My roommate gave me $40 to buy ribeye steaks. I still work in Spokane, but I'm newly moved to Post Falls. So, I thought I would try a local butcher. I historically have always gone to Eggers in Spokane. I called this place ahead of time and asked if they have Prime Grade ribeye. She said with absolute confidence that they did. I asked again, "Prime?", and she doubled down. When I got there, I realized the ribeye they had labeled as "Prime" had zero, I repeat, zero marbling. It was, without a shadow of a doubt, Select Grade. I ended up buying their "Prime Grade" New York Strips, which I would say still looked like choice. I don't like liars. I probably shouldn't have even bought the New York. My roommate was mad at me to because he specifically said ribeye. read more

Tim's is our only local CDA/Hayden/Post Falls Butcher. Gotta admit prices are high but this isn't Costco or Wal Mart meat. This is high quality professionally butchered meats. A grillers Valhalla! Best ribeye I've ever cooked came from Tim's. Also, hard to find items like Dino Beef Short Ribs. Again, as of 2023 $9.99/lb but you just won't find the cut or the quality anywhere else. The owner is very friendly and he has a great crew of guys - like they are all friends there. Wide assortments of BBQ rubs and sauces. read more

As soon as you walk in you get that awesome aroma of seasonings. They have tons of seasonings to choose from. I appreciate the fridges stocked with local fresh produce like raw eggs, bacon and sausage. The meats they have displayed are very enticing and fresh. I've also always experienced really friendly service when I come in, which is really important to me. Even if they're busy, they let you know that they'll help you soon. When it's your turn to be helped, they give you their full attention. People complain that it's overpriced, but I disagree. I'd pay a few extra dollars for more quality meat. Been looking for another meat market, I like Costco but today I wanted a Pork belly to try in my smoker, the store had some customer and they were all being helped, soon they gave me a choice of pork bellys, store has a lot to offer but I prefer my own rub, 6 hrs later one of the best smoked pork belly I have done, 15 mim away from CDA but worth it, friendly service and was on my way, Thanks TIms meats I'll be back!! read more

I've been a regular here with my husband for over a year now. We cannot imagine going anywhere else for quality, freshness, and service. We also believe in supporting as local as possible and they source as much locally as they can. I felt inclined to write a review as most of the negative reviews are from several years ago. People and businesses can change and improve, so I thought an update should be had. This was my summary for you, but continue reading for more deets. QUALITY: As a Post Falls local my whole life, I'd only recently tried Tims in the last couple years because we decided since COVID, to spend more to support locally owned and sourced for meats as well as after reading several consumer reports for grocery store meats commonly containing fillers and disgusting additives. They are often so busy now, that sometimes they are out of certain products largely based on freshness. I know for a fact that whatever is in the case is very fresh and the quality is always top notch. I always follow the representative's suggestions too! Ask them what is the freshest and best right now. They won't steer you wrong if you are skeptical. We like, and enjoy, that though there are always some consistently in stock products, but they also have a large quantity of "seasonal" or hit or miss products to allow for variety and continued freshness. You can also place orders in advance which is especially helpful if you want to make a specific dish or want to prepare for the holidays. OFFERINGS: We've tried their prime rib, ribeyes, salmon, thick cut pork chops, ribs, sirloin, lunch meats, bacon, chicken breasts and thighs, sausage, duck, jerky, spices/rubs, and marinades. Probably close to everything at this point. When the salmon is in I always get it. It is my personal favorite and my now 9 month old is also obsessed with it (since he was 6mos). Most tender and flavorful filets I've ever had. We haven't bought the set meat packs they have, but we would consider it if finances allowed. Since their products are locally sourced, the flavors of products do have a "grass fed" or unique flavor to it which can take some getting used to overall. It also varies by farmer. Sometimes even now, I'm not a huge fan, but I'd say 8-9/10 times I enjoy it! So just keep that in mind that flavor can vary. SERVICE: I've had exemplary service from all staff here. Even a blonde young lady, which must be her first job, is eager to please, friendly, and is helpful even if she is not as speedy as the more seasoned associates. If she didn't know something or was unsure about how to do it, she always asked for help to make sure it was done properly. But I love all the staff that has helped my husband and I! There's a sweet woman there that is very helpful, the Asian American man is awesome and super fast, then a couple other men one middle aged and the other older (usually in the back cutting) are a plethora of knowledge. Literally everyone is so knowledgeable and so helpful. I always trust their judgment when selecting products and I haven't been disappointed yet! Happy to have a local butcher we can trust! We plan our whole week's menu around Tim's and their business hours too. We trust them that much. I'll update with pictures soon :) hope this is helpful! read more

I called them at 9 am to have an elk processed. An employee said they would take the 4 quarters with the bones in for a 50 dollar additional process fee. I packed up the elk and arrived at the loading dock outside the store. They employee then said it would be 100 dollar fee but he had to check and see if they would accept it. He then came out and said they would not. I asked to see Tim himself. Tim then said no, they would never say they would take it. I explained what was said on the phone and he called me a liar saying they haven't taken meat like that in 4 years and the 100 fee was how they did it. I said ok, so you agree that your employee said I could do it for 100 extra??? He said he had no room and no one to cut it, so I again asked why was I hear then if his employee had refusedd me on the phone? He then began a profanity laced tirade screaming about how his shoulders are hurt and how i needed to get the F out of his store and F this and F that. Apparently, not knowing I am a vet with PTSD, he triggered me and I told him what he could do with himself in the same fashion as he told me to. I then left the location immediately. Look, if you have to use Tim's great. If you agree that no customer should ever go through that, perhaps get your meat someplace else read more

They have a great selection of meat, including meat not found in grocery stores (like rabbit). The meat we did buy was delicious. The prices are higher than a grocery store, but then again, the service is more personal than a grocery store. Good meat packages for those who like to stock up, but none that we would be able to use unfortunately (they include meats we would/could not eat). We will definitely go back. read more

This place is a nice butcher in the area, but the quality is not consistent. I I recently purchased a sirloin steak that was the best I have ever eaten. Then, I purchased a meat pack with sirloin steak and it was a mucher lower quality than what I purchased out of the case. I will still go back to purchase out of the case, but unfortunately will not purchase another over-priced meat pack. read more

I went to Tims and bought 2 thick cut pork chops. I got them home and put them in the fridge. About an hour later I opened the fridge and a real bad sour smell. I opened the chops and they smelled sour ( A way to know the meat is no good) I called the store and took the chops back. They replaced them. Got the new ones home that I was told "they were just cut fresh" nope they had the same sour smell. Took them back and the guy tried to tell me because of the quality of pork it would smell different than other pork. NOT TRUE!!! He did not know that pork has NO SMELL!!! AT ALL. He had no idea what he was talking about and I will NEVER STEP FOOT IN THAT STORE AGAIN!! read more

I may just make it my mission in life to open a meat shop and put this place out of business. Maybe just become a vegetarian! Roast beef for a trip on the lake last summer was shiny and smelly. Last fall thought I would try some Jerky. Over seasoned. Rock hard. Looking around for interesting spices or rubs, many were out of date. "Oh that stuff never goes bad" he tells me, when clearly the label says best used by... a month I may have given it a try. Not 6-8 months late. Can I give this place zero stars? HORRIBLE ATTITUDE! I'm assuming it comes from owner or manager. The people that helped me had zippers on their mouths and gave me the I am sorry, I can not say anything eyes. Fortunately for Tim's I'm required to leave at LEAST one star or I'd immediately give them zero to accurately reflect their level of professionalism and concern for consumer health. Went in for a nice cut of filet only to be told that there wasn't anymore and they would need to cut more followed by a blank stare... thank you for the update (?) would rather just have you cut the filet and ring me up as would be normal, instead of trying to insist on being lazy and hoping I switch meat preferences. Instead I had to request more be cut which was seemingly an issue for them based on the demeanor thereafter and obvious initial reluctance to take 3 minutes to just cut it. Don't you just hate when you have to do your job? Apparently they did, as I got home only to unwrap the grayest most disgusting piece of meat that you couldn't even have paid me to eat. Had this been a professional butcher, they wouldn't have even cut me that for my dog. I'm so frustrated with the quality of meat here! One day it's great in every way, but more often than not lately, the chicken is already turning bad when I take it out of the package when I get home. Tonight was just the case. I bought three whole chicken breasts for tonight and the weekend, but when I opened them up to cook and re-wrap in butcher paper (because for some reason they put the chicken in a plastic bag and not just the paper), I could instantly smell them turning. So, needless to say, I ended cooking all of them tonight. I don't know if it's pure laziness or sheer greed, but either way I've had it with Tim's. Granted, I've only had issues with their chicken, but not checking on the quality of their product is inexcusable. read more
