Such a cute hidden gem! Me and the gurls visited the Tin Goose Diner on our summer trip to Catawba Island. Some friends recommended visiting TGD for breakfast and I'm so glad we did! I got to B-25, which was biscuits and gravy with potatoes. It was so delicious and rich! My friends all got pancakes, which were absolute heaven as well! The service was friendly and super fast, and the diner itself was so charming and retro! We didn't visit the museum but it looked really interesting as well. Restaurant found by accident, super cute place inside the Erie-Ottawa International Airport / Liberty Aviation Museum store. The restaurant reminds you Happy Days sorta restaurant, with the views of the airport and planes parking after landing. Super cute, and did not have to wait long to be seated. Food; Had Eggs and Bacon breakfast, and added cheese to the eggs. The plate literally came out with an actual slice of cheese, don't let it fool you it was still very good. Have been patiently waiting through the winter for this diner to be open when I'm in the area. It was definitely worth the wait and I'm telling everyone to get here this summer!! This is the proverbial step back in time ! The diner has been meticulously cared for. The decor is a thoughtful collection of memorabilia from a time when counter diners were all the rage! Our server Emma was sweet and very good!! She checked on us and made sure everything was good. I will have to come back for the country fried steak and gravy for breakfast. We arrived about 1:30 pm, so understandably they weren't serving breakfast. I got the Rosie the riveter bean burger and fries. My husband ordered the tin goose burger. I avoided the milkshake because I had my eye on the coconut pecan pie. However, once I finished the delicious bean burger and perfect fries, I didn't have room for pie. :-(. Husband and I flew in about 11 this morning expecting a big wait (usual for them). Got seated in this charming 40's style diner immediately. Service was perfect - quick, often, but not pushy. Husband had the seafood basket (fish, shrimp, clam strips and fries). He said he'd easily order it again. (I snitched many of the clam strips - delicious.) I had the cranberry chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. Very tasty! I too would order again. The diner is located just adjacent to the Erie County Airport. Dad and I were hanging out for the afternoon to give my Stepmom some "me time". Our initial stop was to check out a car show happening at Riverview Nursing Home in Oak Harbor. We arrived about half an hour after the posted start time only to find 2 autos and 7 or 8 tractors on display. Hopefully more vehicles showed up after we left... We decided to get some lunch, and the first 2 places we went to were packed with lines out the door. Tin Goose Diner was not far away, so we decided to give it a go. We arrived just after 2pm and the diner was open until 3pm, whew! We were seated right away. Took a while for Dad to make a decision on his lunch selection. We ordered the Angela Chicken Salad Croissant w a cup of Lobster & Crab Bisque and The Stearman w grilled ham & Swiss cheese. Not too sure what happened in the kitchen, but it took almost 45 minutes for our food to get to the table. I picked up the top of my Croissant to add some pepper to the chicken salad, and there was a very tiny scoop in the center of the Croissant. I waited for our server to come by our table, and I showed him the tiny portion of chicken salad and asked if that was to the expected. Our server was apologetic and said there is usually a decwnt amout filling the Croissant. Took several minutes, and a different server brought my sandwich back, and I still couldn't see the chicken salad from the edge of the Croissant without offsetting the top half of the Croissant (see pic). Dad said his grilled ham and swiss was okay, but nothing to write home about. We have been to Tin Goose Diner before and had a satisfactory experience, this was almost the polar opposite. Tried this place for the first time when on vacation,we discovered this place when visiting the liberty aviation museum. It's a 1950s themed retro diner, I tried the chili with cheese and onion the chili was pretty good. Now I ordered their cheesesteak with american cheese, when I got it I first notice the american cheese isn't what I'm use too as I am a person that lives around the philly around. Their cheese is that orange like plastic wrapped cheese and the bread was like a cheap tasting hoagie bread, the bread was dry so was the meat and the bottom of the bread was soggy. I'm used to like cooper sharp on a fresh amaraso roll or a fresh roll. So if your coming here from the philly area I recommend getting something else. read more

With 100+ reviews and a 4 star Yelp average, we figured it would be a safe bet. We were wrong. The onion rings were dripping in oil (there was a puddle in the tray beneath them). The perch was so over-cooked it resembled sun-aged leather more than a flaky fish. It was difficult to bite, cut or tear through. I only ate a few bites of my food yet the server never once asked how our meal was or if he could bring me anything else. Even our refusal to box up leftovers didn't signal to him that something was wrong. The person who appeared to be a manager was on her cellphone the whole time and did not interact with customers or supervise the staff to ensure quality. There was no iced tea and I can only described the atmosphere as chaotic and the service as abysmal. This is a shame--I am a local resident and the Diner has great ambience and had good food in the past. With its now limited hours I would expect better service. I left and will not be back. We had a miserable experience! After waiting 20 minutes for a table they shoved 6 people into a 4 top table, this was after my husband made it very clear to the manager we were happy to wait just to be seated in a more comfortable spot since my mother is in a foot cast and non-weight bearing.The 6 top booth table behind us approached us saying we could have their table they were just waiting for the check after seeing how uncomfortable our mom was. They approached the waitress asking for the check and asking for us to be moved to their table. The waitress came over told us they were clearing the table and would be moving us to the bigger table and took our drink order. Then the manager seated a 5 top of people in the seat instead leaving us at the 4 top seat and when my husband approached the waitress she just said yeah I know sorry. As a pilot, I'm always interested to know which small airports have diners that I can fly to for the requisite $100 hamburger. Granted, given the cost of aviation fuel these days, it's more like a $300 hamburger, but I'm trying to forget that. The actual price of the burger at the Tin Goose Diner is what I'd expect to pay for a burger at a diner -- the cost of fuel might break the bank, but the cost of the burger won't. On a bright and beautiful day, a friend and I decided to take a flight from Columbus up to Port Clinton with the express purpose of eating at the Tin Goose. It's a cute diner that takes you back to the 1950s. The only thing missing is Buddy Holly playing in the background. It's full of locals and other pilots, and it has that real down-home feel to it. We were seated promptly, and the food arrived maybe ten minutes after we placed our order. I had the single-patty burger and fries. I had thought of getting a double patty, but I'm glad that I didn't. The single was thick enough, juicy enough, and cooked perfectly. I have to say that I think it was the best airport diner burger I've ever had. And the fries were not just regular old diner fries -- they seemed to be seasoned with something delicious. Or cooked differently from the way other diners cook their fries. I don't know, but they were great! On our way out, my copilot and I eyed up the pies, thinking of taking some home. I love diners at airports as it's fun to watch the little planes taking off and landing. This diner has lots of nostalgic pictures, statues, etc which is neat. The diner is very clean and has a really nice atmosphere. We arrived at 11 and I was happy because I could get lunch but my husband had breakfast. Service was quick and she even blocked the vent which was blowing cold air all over us. I had the turkey club and I asked to have only 2 pieces of bread and they actually did it right. My husband had a ham and cheese omelette, which was served with home fries and toast. My sandwich was hearty, and all the ingredients seemed fresh. Good sandwich served with chips. His omelette was a bit dry, could have used more cheese. Some potatoes were hot, some cold, which means they were sitting on the griddle waiting to be served. The toast was perfectly toasted and served hot, with melted butter on it, which never happens. All in all, nice meal. read more

We went here today for lunch after hearing about it on a facebook group. Very clean and such a cute old fashioned dinner experience. The food was great. I got the cream chipped beef (breakfast served all day) my son and MIL got burgers and fries and my MIL raved about how good the burger was. Its connected to the Aviation Museum so very cool things to look at. The staff was extremely nice. We ended up purchasing a membership to the museum because we liked it so much! I've been waiting to come here for a long time, and I wasn't disappointed. Read some bad reviews on other review sites and really don't know what the heck those folks were talking about. Food, service and location were great. Everything was spotless, there was plenty of parking and even the restrooms were squared away. The only complaint I have about the place was that it was slightly cold inside, but I guess with all the glass on a warm summer day it'd be very hot inside. The diner has the ambiance of a classic American diner. It's really a great experience if only to try it once, but believe me, they'll have you coming back for seconds. We had the French Dip, Angela Swiss & Mushroom burger, and a kid's hot dog. Funny thing was the moment the kids bit into the hotdog there was this overwhelming "this is the best hot dog I've ever had." Now they were starving and you could have fed them anything, but they still loved it. Only thing they didn't like was the chips as a side. Their chips were, meh, boring. Wish we all read the menu better about the chips. Otherwise the half order of fries were fantastic--perfectly cooked, crunchy, yet also remarkably chewy, golden brown and salted just perfectly. After driving home from a visit with friends who live south of Detroit, we were looking for a place to have breakfast. In consulting Yelp, we noticed the Tin Goose. Not knowing what to expect, we were excited to find that it was located at a small airport and part of a building that housed an aeronautic museum! The restaurant is very bright and clean and most tables offer a view of the runway. We were warmly greeted and seated promptly. The menu is varied and offers all of the standard breakfast fare. The added plus was that (at our 11am arrival), we were able to order from the lunch menu as well as the breakfast. Service was very good. The total price came to $25, which is not cheap, but reasonable given the location and atmosphere. My wife ordered a club sandwich and I had a ham and cheese omelette. My wife was happy with her sandwich. I was a bit disappointed with my breakfast. The omelette had only a sparse amount of cheese and the homefries were cold in spots. We enjoyed the atmosphere and, despite my disappointment with my meal, if we were in the area, I would give the restaurant another try and check out the museum as well. read more

After hitting Cedar Point found this gem hiding besides an Air Plane Museum. The character of the diner is almost enough with its decor and character. The staff is very friendly, the menu has many things, onion rings were great, I had the Perch Dinner which is priced well and filled my need for fish. The Mc and Cheese is over the top good, topped with more cheese. My son enjoyed the Bologna sandwich with thick Bologna. Highly anyone in area to try this local gem. read more

I love this little joint. The food comes out hot and the wait staff is friendly. I love their breakfasts but my kid loves their hot dogs. It's a small thing, but I love that they have real butter on the table! It's attached to the airport and sometimes you can watch the airplanes take off for the islands. I flew into Port Clinton Ohio for two things, one the aviation museum which I forgot to check into and to eat breakfast at the Tin Goose Diner. The only issue I had with anything here at the Tin Goose is the Coffee, I must say I am kind of a snob when it comes to certain things coffee being one of them. I ordered coffee while waiting on a 4th person to fly in and join us for breakfast and when the coffee came out my first thought was it smelled just like Nescafe, and then yes it tasted like Nescafe. Okay some may really like the smell and taste of Nescafe instant coffee, but well I am not that person. I will never order coffee here again, unless I of course forget, which will probably happen sadly. My breakfast was hot and very tasty and a large portion. I ordered the barnstormer with eggs over medium and toast. The portion of my meal was huge in my opinion, but somehow I ate it all (I was hungry after a 2.3 hour flight. It was very good and I had zero complaints other than the coffee (this is a personal thing so your mileage may vary). When I am back up here again, which I do plan to fly to put-in-bay, so I am sure I will stop in for fuel and a meal. I will gladly order something new and tasty off the menu. First visit since the remodel and Again, we weren't disappointed! Brought my grandson for the first time and he ordered a ham and cheese omelet as did I! We couldn't eat them they were so big and fluffy! The hash browns were nicely browned on top and the toast! The toast is delicious! Not your average run of the mill toast! I have been going to Erie islands area for 20 years and never stumbled into this joint. What a pleasant experience - we actually ate in the diner and watched a small plane come in for a landing. It is attached to an aviation museum that we will return to for sure. We both had omlet Specials and they were excellent. Home fries done just right and service with a big smile. Only advice to owners - make the portions smaller. Still can't believe how much food is wasted in America. I do blame some of this on restaurateurs who load the plate. I am sure if you reduce the portion size a few will complain but in the long run you are saving the food from garbage and helping the waist size of America one plate at a time. We were in the area for another reason and Googled Diner's. What a surprise! Very easy to find. We were immediately welcomed by a museum volunteer. We then went to the diner and again were immediately welcomed by friendly staff. Absolutely adorable decor. Fun music too! We ordered hamburgers and chili cheese fries. The chili cheese fries were large enough to have been a meal as we were warned by our friendly waitress. Both the hamburgers and Fries were delicious! Everything tasted hot and fresh. They did not cut corners ! The museum looked like a lot of fun. We chose to wait and bring our grandson back at another time. We traveled over an hour to visit Marblehead, and this diner was well advertised. It was VERY clean, lots of clear protocols in place, including individual salt and pepper packets instead of shakers. Five stars for that! The food was ok. The onion rings were very tasty and the fries were excellent. The chili was normal chili. The grilled cheese was great for picky kids. The Tri-Motor burger was a lot of meat with no condiments. We would eat there again to further explore the menu. read more
