Rosie the riveter black bean burger and fries
    Rose K.

Have been patiently waiting through the winter for this diner to be open when I'm in the area. It was definitely worth the wait and I'm telling everyone to get here this summer!! This is the proverbial step back in time ! The diner has been meticulously cared for. The decor is a thoughtful collection of memorabilia from a time when counter diners were all the rage! Our server Emma was sweet and very good!! She checked on us and made sure everything was good. I will have to come back for the country fried steak and gravy for breakfast. We arrived about 1:30 pm, so understandably they weren't serving breakfast. I got the Rosie the riveter bean burger and fries. My husband ordered the tin goose burger. I avoided the milkshake because I had my eye on the coconut pecan pie. However, once I finished the delicious bean burger and perfect fries, I didn't have room for pie. :-(. The good news is, I'm coming back! Opportunity to try other items !!! My husband Loved his burger. He said it was tender and cooked to perfection. Smash burgers eat your heart out!! The buns were perfectly toasted too! Excellent diner! Would give 10 stars if possible ! Thank you for capturing the diner experience both visually and tastefully. "Functioning Artifact" truth! Heck out this great video https://youtu.be/GNwszmYCFmo?si=vWek7aFaxTLjfRv-

Immersed in nostalgia top to bottom. Immaculate as well. Good food with a front row seat to the runway. Very good experience if we are ever in the area again its on the must return list.

Seafood basket - fish, shrimp, clams and fries.

Husband and I flew in about 11 this morning expecting a big wait (usual for them). Got seated in this charming 40's style diner immediately. Service was perfect - quick, often, but not pushy. Husband had the seafood basket (fish, shrimp, clam strips and fries). He said he'd easily order it again. (I snitched many of the clam strips - delicious.) I had the cranberry chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. Very tasty! I too would order again. The diner is located just adjacent to the Erie County Airport. We parked the plane across the field at the very welcoming FBO. They loaned us a crew car to get to the diner (helped with my new knee)!

The Stearman w grilled Ham & Swiss

Dad and I were hanging out for the afternoon to give my Stepmom some "me time". Our initial stop was to check out a car show happening at Riverview Nursing Home in Oak Harbor. We arrived about half an hour after the posted start time only to find 2 autos and 7 or 8 tractors on display. Hopefully more vehicles showed up after we left... We decided to get some lunch, and the first 2 places we went to were packed with lines out the door. Tin Goose Diner was not far away, so we decided to give it a go. We arrived just after 2pm and the diner was open until 3pm, whew! We were seated right away. Took a while for Dad to make a decision on his lunch selection. We ordered the Angela Chicken Salad Croissant w a cup of Lobster & Crab Bisque and The Stearman w grilled ham & Swiss cheese. Not too sure what happened in the kitchen, but it took almost 45 minutes for our food to get to the table. I picked up the top of my Croissant to add some pepper to the chicken salad, and there was a very tiny scoop in the center of the Croissant. I waited for our server to come by our table, and I showed him the tiny portion of chicken salad and asked if that was to the expected. Our server was apologetic and said there is usually a decwnt amout filling the Croissant. Took several minutes, and a different server brought my sandwich back, and I still couldn't see the chicken salad from the edge of the Croissant without offsetting the top half of the Croissant (see pic). Dad said his grilled ham and swiss was okay, but nothing to write home about. We have been to Tin Goose Diner before and had a satisfactory experience, this was almost the polar opposite. Disappointed to say the least.

Tried this place for the first time when on vacation,we discovered this place when visiting the liberty aviation museum. It's a 1950s themed retro diner, I tried the chili with cheese and onion the chili was pretty good. Now I ordered their cheesesteak with american cheese, when I got it I first notice the american cheese isn't what I'm use too as I am a person that lives around the philly around. Their cheese is that orange like plastic wrapped cheese and the bread was like a cheap tasting hoagie bread, the bread was dry so was the meat and the bottom of the bread was soggy. I'm used to like cooper sharp on a fresh amaraso roll or a fresh roll. So if your coming here from the philly area I recommend getting something else.

Sat morning we went to The Tin Goose Diner in Port Clinton. This little place is inside the Liberty Aviation Museum Complex. Cute little diner, but we waited over an hour to get our breakfast after ordering. The food was meh, waitress was good and very apologetic for the long wait.

    Lobster Bisque

This is the second time I visited here and still one of my favorite places to eat in Ohio. It is a hidden gem, no really it is very hidden. The Lobster bisque was amazing. I look forward to coming back next time I am in the area.

Perch sandwich and battered onion rings

Food was awful, service mediocre. I brought my dad to the area for a fishing trip to celebrate his upcoming birthday and wanted to get some local fish. With 100+ reviews and a 4 star Yelp average, we figured it would be a safe bet. We were wrong. The onion rings were dripping in oil (there was a puddle in the tray beneath them). The perch was so over-cooked it resembled sun-aged leather more than a flaky fish. It was difficult to bite, cut or tear through. I only ate a few bites of my food yet the server never once asked how our meal was or if he could bring me anything else. Even our refusal to box up leftovers didn't signal to him that something was wrong. The person who appeared to be a manager was on her cellphone the whole time and did not interact with customers or supervise the staff to ensure quality. If you go, order something other than the fish.

This was a great stop while in Sandusky recently. The restaurant was mostly empty inside so we could be spaced far apart and the food came quickly. We will go back again! Really cute diner and we wished we had saved room for dessert because the pies looked great. This is a great diner experience if that's what you're after.

    Biscuits and gravy with potatoes

The biscuits and gravy were delicious. Ohio has some great biscuits and gravy, I'm just saying. Try it, get it, enjoy it. Nice diner vibe and good service. I would come back for sure!

We would give Red's Lakehouse a solid 4 stars. It's good and it's good in every category (food,…read moredecor, service, etc.). Then why not 5 stars, you ask? While the food was good, nothing "blew us" away. This was on a Wednesday afternoon. The initial discussion with our server centered on the apps, Their flagship app is the Walleye Bites - which they were out of! Began with a flight of 4 different alcoholic slushies. That's neat and different. Overall, very refreshing. They used the whole gamut of liquors like vodka, wine, rum, triple sec, etc. For apps we did the wings and the whipped feta. Whipped Feta with hot honey is served with pita bites/chips and carrots. Yes it's suppose to also have celery but they were out of celery. Nice dish. The wings (we chose Hickory BBQ sauce) were excellent. I know this is not a word to describe food but they were "clean". Excellent size and great clean chicken wing taste. Finally we split a perch dinner (again, a flagship dish for Red's). Good perch dinner but no where worth the $28 price tag. 2 pieces of perch and fries and tarter. Again, very clean taste. Fries were also good. Our server, the only male on the staff working that day, was good and seemed to enjoy working there as he was busting out vocals to the 80's songs playing in the restaurant. Good to see someone enjoy themselves. In looking Red's up on-line we did see Doug Petrovic (former partner with Michael Symon's restaurants) is a partner. It shows - all in a positive way. The decor is on-point. Lakehouse feel. Varied menu offerings. Huge liquor listing. Also, the place is huge with an upstairs bar area and we would say two areas of outdoor patio seating. Would we go again - yes. Will I run back there soon - no.

Brought my in laws here for brunch on the way out to see the lighthouse & do some scenic driving & it did not disappoint. They are simple small town Ohioans who do not like fancy & abnormal environments so a low key place like this fit their preferences perfectly. Menu had plenty of options & there were specials on a board when we came in that caught my eye. I asked the waitress to pick between two items off the special board for me & she went with a steak & eggs type dish that was very good & filling. Had some of the best toast I've had anywhere too. I think mine was just $9. Unless you are real uppity I think it would be hard to not enjoy eating here.

The pretzel nuggets with beer cheese brought me back to LIFE after two hours of kayaking in the sun. Service was absolutely impeccable -- I must've drank 4 Diet Cokes and my cup never ran out. The waitress even figured out a way to split an appetizer between five tabs. The whole vibe of the place is comfortable and homey... You can look at the table and spot local businesses or look at the wall decor and pick out a new mantra. I had the kielbasa and it was pretty good; be sure to get it with extra grilled onions. The home fries also hit the spot. I'm jealous of my friends who got breakfast AND my friends who got dinner, a chicken-fried steak sounds good. Overall? I'd recommend and I'd go back!

I enjoyed chorizo scrambled eggs, refried beans and home fries - see pic. It reminded me of my dear friend from work, Irma's family breakfast she'd share with us. Hubs had made his own feature, 2 huge pancakes, sausage & eggs, typical Oak Harbor diner fare executed very well; no pic because it's normal for Kozy's. We felt both of our breakfasts for fairly priced as they were plentiful. Kozy's still opens early for their regular breakfast features and has plenty of small town offering on their menu. They are now open later for Mexican dinner features as of 1/5/26, I'm looking forward for full on Mexican dinners to try! Jill, our server was as wonderful as ever--so pleasant, prompt service and kind, on our visit 1/9/2026. It was great to see so many long-time staff & friends still working there, under the new management. They always greet you when you come in and make you feel welcome. I especially enjoyed how enthusiastic the staff were about the new project and how the owner chatted about their new menu, when we paid for breakfast. The interior has been refreshed with a calm light blue gray paint, cream curtains, farmhouse wallpaper and tasteful Mexican pictures. The 50's mural has retired and extremely white ceiling lights have been toned down a bit. They still offer plenty of counter seats to dine at as well, nice for when you just want to quietly relax enjoy solid cup of coffee, good Mexican & check what's on Facebook/Pinterest a bit. Also, I enjoyed the beautiful Mourning Dove in her nest, in a small bush by the north-facing window, looking in at the diners activities. There's easy parking onsite and allowing quick access to the restaurant. They said they are in line for a liquor license but we all know that takes forever. I hope they ask town council for an amendment to get a boundary change for the DORA right away. Hopefully being in DORA would help move their license app to be approved. IMO there's nothing better than a good Margarita with my Mex or with today's to go changes, to have a treat at home. I wish there would be room for a nice patio there too lol! I'm so glad someone took a chance and opened Mexican food in town! I'm finding it hard to get excited about the new places popping up around here--it feels like they're all just trying to be the next burger joint, wing spot, or deep-fryer obsessed.
