After comparing prices, we found that Burlington Furniture was quoting us $2,000 more than a California company, even with shipping and assembly included. Still, we wanted to support a local business, so we returned to Burlington Furniture, and they agreed to match the competitor's price. We were given an estimated delivery date of 4/30. When we followed up, we were surprised to hear that our furniture wouldn't arrive for nearly two more months. We understand that delays happen, but we were frustrated by the lack of communication. I called the manager to get clarity and was told that the employee who gave us that update was no longer with the company. She promised to follow up--which she did--but she didn't provide a new delivery timeline. Instead, she told us the order wasn't actually delayed and that deliveries typically arrive two weeks after the estimated date. It's unclear why the original estimate wouldn't account for that window, and what's worse, I never heard back from the manager again. Ultimately, the delivery company brought our furniture just five days after the estimated date, which we appreciated--but the poor communication and lack of accountability from Burlington Furniture left a bad impression. We're happy with the product, but extremely disappointed in the service. Sadly, this experience has cost Burlington Furniture a customer.

This item was not in stock so I knew I would be waiting a few months to get it. I was out of town when the call came that it was ready to be delivered. I instructed my husband to look it over before signing off with the delivery guy. When it came, my husband looked it over. Looked at the one installed shelf that was covered in protective wrap and did not see any scratches. He looked at the other shelves and there was no noticeable damage. This unit is massive and the delivery guy told my husband to look quickly because he had to go. It took 3 men to get it into our house. The delivery guy was not going to wait for all of this and told my husband to sign and he went on his way. This item was not damaged by us or the delivery. When I got back in town and started putting the shelves in I started to notice the top shelf,which is attached to the metal sides of the hutch, looked a little bowed. When I put the other shelves in, it became obviously clear that the top shelf was installed too tightly or not cut down enough. If you put a level on the shelf the middle part of the shelf does not touch the level. It is definitely noticeable when looking at the hutch. When I I contacted Addison West, they said they would contact the manufacturer. After a few back-and-forths she offered me $300 so that I could fix the shelf myself. I explained that it is not fixable because it is attached to the side and doing so would damage the unit. She informed me that when we signed off for it with the delivery man that we accepted it. I told her the hutch wasn't damaged, it was a lemon. That's a manufacturer messed up and they should never have sent it to us in the first place. There was no damage, it was just not built correctly and that the "damage" could not be noticed until you started putting the other shelves into the unit. Now she offered $400. No exchange of the unit and we are stuck with this expensive hutch. That is not as advertised. I think this is poor business practice, and would never use this company again.

The young woman at the counter was pleasant and she spent a little time checking things a few things out. She said she was unable to find the issue, and said she would need to bring it back to the bench to look at it. In all honesty, she did briefly mention a $45 bench fee. She said to come back within 20 minutes and she should have it fixed by then. That surprised me because she said she didn't know what was wrong with it. When I came back to pick it up, the owner (?) was at the counter and charged me $48+. I asked what was wrong with it, and she said it was a bad plug. I was shocked by the price, and queried, " You're going to charge me $48 for a $3 plug and work that would've taken about five minutes?" Her reply was curt and somewhat rude. She told me that they had to cover their bills somehow. To me, this was terrible customer service. It is my theory that the young lady at the counter could tell right away that it was just the plug when she examined it. I felt scammed. I would've happily bought a plug from them and done it myself if I only I had known. It would have been good customer service if she would have worked with me, but this woman was unwilling to budge. I tried communicating with them through email, asking if we could come to some sort of compromised bill. No one ever responded to any of my emails. Poor customer service doesn't pay in the end, but I had to!! $48 was a lot of money out of my very limited income.
