Cons: NO cable. I realize a lot of people have on board satellite. However some of us for a one night stay don't want to go thru the hassle of set up. We have Starlink, setup was great. It is next to Hwy 97 at time noisy with traffic and Jake brakes. Trains, lots of them, but never heard them at night. Overall an enjoyable week. Would book again when we come thru Klamath Falls.

The host there was rude and condescending when we just wanted the table we reserved and waited for. Wish I had gotten her name, but we just left pissed off. You know what? Maybe don't put a child there? With no manners. It's not the first time it's happened to us either. It's a bad look for LOW and it ruined my husband's birthday for no reason. She told us 10 to 20 minutes. Then she was pissed that we wanted the table we reserved. Were are disappointed because we are locals who go there all the time. What utter bullshit. That host cost you money. I hope you at least talk to the person. She has a bad attitude and we did not. I guess she was freaked out because it was busy? Whatever it was, she was inappropriate and ruined our day. Will start going to Harriman's or the Running Y. They are decent and respectful to people. Christ! Do something. Thank you!

To be fair, this was one of the busiest weekends I've ever seen there. As a business owner myself, I understand that on extremely busy days things don't always go as planned, and because of that I was willing to overlook quite a bit. We stayed in Chipmunk Condo Cabin #3. The cabin had a musty smell and a very small bathroom. The beach area was great for families, and my daughter absolutely loved it. The biggest issue was the food and customer service. Around 2 PM on our first day, we stopped to get pizza for lunch while waiting for our cabin and found out they were already sold out. Since there aren't many nearby dining options, I stopped by the lodge around 6:45 PM to specifically ask when they stopped seating guests. The two younger employees seemed annoyed and unsure but eventually told me the last seating would be at 7:45 PM. I explained that I was traveling with my wife, a 2-year-old, and a 3-month-old, and that driving an hour to Ashland or Klamath Falls for dinner wasn't ideal. We hurried back to the cabin, got ready, and returned around 7:35 PM, only to be immediately told they couldn't seat us because they were too busy and had a large party. My question was simple: Why wasn't I told that when I specifically came in earlier to ask? Had they explained the situation, I would have gladly come sooner. After asking to speak with a manager, who never actually came out, we were suddenly able to be seated. Once inside, there were several empty tables available, which made the whole situation even more confusing. Our server seemed annoyed from the moment we sat down. We decided to order our food to go instead of dining in, and even that seemed to bother him. When I politely provided feedback about the miscommunication, his response was essentially, "Well, we got you seated, didn't we?" That completely missed the point. The issue wasn't whether we eventually got a table. The issue was being given incorrect information and then nearly being turned away despite arriving before the stated seating cutoff. The next morning, we discovered mice had chewed through snacks we had left on the kitchen counter overnight. There are no cabinets available to store food. When I reported it, the manager apologized and explained that even the cabin she lives in on-site has mice because they're in the forest. While that explanation makes sense, it didn't make my wife feel any better with a 3-month-old baby sleeping in the cabin. The second day, pizza was available for lunch and was actually very good. The older gentleman working there was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, when we returned around 6 PM for dinner, pizza was sold out again. My wife then tried ordering dinner to go from the lodge and was given a completely different takeout menu that excluded many of the better dinner options, including items we had ordered to go the night before. When she asked if she could order from the regular dinner menu, she was told absolutely not. The inconsistency made no sense. At that point, we'd had enough. Between the restaurant issues, the mice, and the overall lack of customer service, we decided to cut our trip short and leave a day early. The lake and beach are beautiful and have the potential to make this a great family destination. Unfortunately, poor communication, inconsistent service, restaurant issues, and mice in the cabins overshadowed what could have been a wonderful stay. Mice may be part of being in the woods, but regular preventative pest control inside the cabins would go a long way toward making guests feel more comfortable.

It cost about $85 but it was well worth it. The river running through the campground is lovely and they have Adirondack chairs spaced out along it so you can sit and enjoy. It is off the highway about 6 miles so there is no noise from the freeway just the sound of the river. Very clean and dog/pet friendly. The owners are helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back!

We were a bit worried by the road there (lots of fair sized holes) and the weather (California was experiencing a bad heat wave, and it was 105 here), and considered only staying one of our two nights. So so glad we stayed both nights. The wild horses were hanging out the whole time, and much of it in front of our trailer. I'm sure the heat drove them down to the river and tasty lawn. We also saw the blue heron, bats, and two river otters! Baby bird above the men's bathroom. Lots to see and enjoy. This place is pristine and quiet. We'd just come from a gross Thousand Trails and a loud state park. Coming here with the clean (and air conditioned!!) bathrooms and showers was lovely. The hosts were so nice. And it just felt quiet and relaxing, only punctuated by territorial stallions making a fuss. Nice additions are the giant shaded area with picnics tables and Adirondack chairs to hang out in- our space didn't have a tree so the shaded option was much appreciated. This is a way away from us, but we hope to come back and spend more time here. Also- shoutout to the hosts who spend a lot of time cleaning up horse poop to keep the roads clean for us!

No visible water hook up so we,had to run our hose into next spot over. Sewer hook up not at the back of our rv. Management did not address any of these issues. After 19 months they decided to do something. Their solution for part of the issues,was to make us move our rv over a few feet. Anyone knows who has moved one knows it takes the same prep work to move 5 feet as it does 500 miles. We moved completely out. We got tired of the not getting things done, telling us our on l y concern would be to move our water hose. (Not sure,where to though.) The bathrooms and laundry room are not kept clean. It is very popular because it is inexpensive but the only thing they provide is water and sewer. You pay for your own garbage service. Also there is no more overnight stays.

The loop is narrow and one way which makes traffic a little tricky at times and not good for kids riding bikes in my opinion. They can't play around the camp spot because of the thistle without long pants and boots. We had the lake to ourselves this morning which was nice. We kayaked, didn't swim. The water slides are open Monday, Thursday, Fri-Sun, June-Sept. Pay for it. It's well worth it. The line moves quick and the kids had a great time. The snack bar has treats. Heads up, cash only. Great playground too when it's not in the 90°s.

For tent camping, what I loved was being able to set up on grass - which is a huge luxury, keeps dust down and offers an extra layer of padding. The facilities were very clean and though there was some wear and tear, they were super nice. This place is like being in a hotel after camping in forest service camp grounds with no amenities. Though I didn't plan on it, I ended up going to Lava Beds National Monument, which is just 10 minutes away. I went because Barbara, the owner/host gave me a map and said there was some must see caves and hiking. I really enjoyed my stay and will be back with my wife who enjoys more refined camping. It's a great balance between nature and everyday essentials, like water and electricity.

We stayed at Hawk's Nest two nights during a week long camping adventure we took as a family with…read moretwo kiddos (6&9). Overall, great place to stay with great (free) showers. The kids really enjoyed the playground (but be warned, they will come back extra dirty- yay for the showers). We only have a truck camper that has a battery with solar, but still booked a site with full electric just in case we needed an extra charge (we did use electricity for our air fryer though). One downside to me was not having a camp fire ring or a table (luckily we had our own, but we don't always take one)... but it wasn't a deal breaker. Pamela was very friendly, and when we came to the on site store for something we ran out of, unfortunately it wasn't available in the store, she did however get us what we needed from her personal house. Thank you again. If we are ever in that area we'd definitely come back.
