Everything you read in the wonderful reviews about Golden West Motel are on point. Yes, it's a motel and in some ways takes you back in time but the service, cleanliness, comfort and overall adorableness of Golden West is unmatched. They are pet friendly, which was a must for us and charge a nominal fee (standard). We stayed 2 nights and I actually got one of my best nights of sleep here as their beds are super comfy. The couple that runs the place and lives on site are so sweet and welcoming... everything you read in the reviews about them is true! The little flower vase, in room coffee set up (really good coffee) and quaintness of all the little touches did not go unnoticed. Our room had a pretty large mini fridge with freezer and a microwave. Nice big area for your pups to sniff around as well. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! read more

I stayed three nights at the Golden West Motel: 09/19, 20 & 21. I made my reservations via Booking.com. Upon making the RSVP and messaging the property that I'd have my two dogs with me, I received a phone call from the owner of the property, Luisa. What a lovely sweet kind woman. She was just as wonderful when I checked in and throughout my stay. What a quaint hotel, which allows dogs. The bathroom has been updated, super comfy bed and great pillows, plenty of towels, sheet to cover the bed (in case dogs jumped up), everything I needed including a microwave, refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker, dark curtains and blinds, etc. It was so quiet, I slept well plus my dogs got to run and play on the big lawn. There are deer which visit the property at night. Luisa made me feel welcome and assured me to reach out if I needed anything. Such amazing customer service, Reasonable rates, great location, good WiFi, good parking and maps and info in the office. I look forward to visiting Klamath Falls again and rebooking at this location. Thank you for my great stay! read more

We had an unexpectedly delightful night at the Golden West Motel in Klamath! The place is super clean, welcoming, and quiet. The lady at the front desk was incredibly friendly, she waved to us when our car pulled in and let us know that the AC had already been turned on for us while we were checking in. So thoughtful, especially since it was 100°F outside! We stopped here for one night on our way back from Crater Lake and had a wonderful experience. The room was spotlessly clean -- honestly cleaner than many hotels we've stayed at. Whoever is responsible for the cleaning does an amazing job! The space was charming, with fresh flowers, neatly folded towels, a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. The motel has a beautiful lawn in front, adding to the tranquil atmosphere. They also offer pet-friendly rooms, we don't have pets, but I believe the dog would have loved running around that gorgeous grass! read more

We stayed here after leaving Crater Lake. When we drove up Vince was sitting outside and gave us a friendly wave. Luisa checked us in and was extremely nice and helpful. She gave me a map and located places to eat nearby. And a bag of ice for our water bottles. The room was so nice! Two queen beds with colorful quilts that added a homey touch. Fridge, microwave, a table and 2 chairs with comfy cushions. Plenty of hangers in the closet area and a luggage rack, plus extra pillow and blanket. And a bottle of air freshener on the shelf. I've stayed in so many motels and this was a first! The bathroom had a very large nicely tiled step-in shower with a bath mat for safety. Water pressure was very good. I appreciated the 3 shelves by the sink for toiletries. I've taken to packing a plastic tray to place on top of the toilet tank in motels that have a pedestal sink and no place to put anything. Everything was extremely clean, too! The owners gave a lot of thought to guest comfort! My husband was having trouble with the aspect ratio on the tv and Vince quickly brought a remote to fix it. When we left the next day we ate a delicious lunch at a barbecue place Luisa recommended! While we were there she called me because she found my husband's phone on the ground outside our room. We didn't even know it was missing. What a relief! We went back to pick it up before leaving town. It could have been a disaster, but Luisa saved the day! I was so grateful. You don't get that kind of service in a chain motel. Very highly recommended. read more

I discovered this place while on a business trip two years ago. The couple that own it keep it well maintained and neat as a pin. The woman that owns it works the front desk, and is very sweet. She also has a good memory, and always remembers me from my prior visits. The wi-fi works. I recommend calling if you are going to be later than 8:00 so that she can stay awake to greet you and give you the key. The rooms are extremely economical. I see contractors stay there regularly for that reason. The parking lot is off of the street, so you shouldn't need to worry about your car being rifled through. I will be staying here for years to come. read more

This is one of the nicest motels I have ever stayed in. Our room had two very comfortable beds, and a table and chairs. It had another room that was a kitchen with a large refrigerator, stove, sink, microwave, and coffee pot. Although we didn't prepare a meal, we could have. The shower had great water pressure and the towels were large. Even the facial tissue was a high quality, not the cheap, scratchy kind. As others have mentioned, everything was spotlessly clean. Total hidden gem. Other than maybe the lack of "curb appeal", this place is impeccably clean, well maintained & stocked, very cute inside, and run by the nicest people I've met in a while. It's also surprisingly quiet for being right off the road (once "rush hour" traffic subsides). Towels, toiletries, and even fresh coffee in the room were all above and beyond (and not the cheap, single serve pucks of charred coffee grounds. I've honestly stayed in dirtier Marriotts, less-inviting Best Westerns, and Hiltons with less amenities in the rooms than this little speak-easy of a motel. Will definitely stay again if we're ever back in town! read more

What a hidden gem! The owners are wonderful, motel is absolutely spotless and the rooms are very comfortable. All of the amazing reviews are spot on. My husband (ages 10 & 16), and I were driving from California to Washington and needed somewhere to stay overnight. The owners were very accommodating, gave us advice on area to travel and eat. When I say this place was spotless, I cannot stress it enough. Unit has very comfortable beds and pillows, a kitchen with fridge and freezer, even a stove/oven and kitchen sink. Coffee was delicious and there were even fresh flowers and mints on the tables. We just got done staying six nights at a mainstream hotel for a tournament, and my entire family mentioned that they wish they could have stayed at Golden West. Small family operated family motel in Klamath Falls CA. We stopped here for two nights on our way to central Oregon. Our stay was totally pleasant and very quiet. Owner lives on premises and pays close attention to the property. Very clean with a lovely well manicured lawn around big trees with bird feeders for song birds and hummingbirds. Conveniently close to a busy road but wasn't noisy. Recommend for those on the road. We have a well behaved service dog who enjoyed his stay as well. read more

We had absolutely the best stay at Golden West Motel, Vince and Luisa are incredibly accommodating, the rooms are super clean and it is very personalized. My friend Monte and I were leaving for a eight day bike packing trip across Oregon and I managed to leave the room without my wallet which I forgot in the room. Vince and Luisa actually drove 45 minutes (4 hours by bike) to meet us in a small town that day with my wallet so I could complete the trip. Incredibly gracious hosts and people. Luisa the owner was a most gracious hostess steering us to the best spots in the area to hike, and enjoy fine food. We picked the hotel on the strength of the Yelp recommendations. We're traveling through rural Oregon to do some research and really appreciate getting well-rested and refueled with tasty food for our next long day on the road. Golden West Motel was a throwback to road trips I took with my family as a little kid. So it was a treat to share this experience with my daughter. We loved the special little touches in the room like fresh cut roses. Also, the wonderful suggestions for restaurants in and around the town were quite good. Stayed two nights and were very pleased. Couldn't ask for a cleaner hotel room and nicer front desk staff. Plenty of clean towels, and really clean sheets. While we were out, housekeeper came in and made our beds, dumped trash. We had only one downside, but this may be because we live in the woods and are used to very dark rooms while sleeping. There are porch lights in front of every room and the walkways. I'm sure it's for safety, but we couldn't turn them out, and they are bright behind the curtains. I would suggest the owners get blinds to pull down behind the curtains to block out the lights. But again, that's us, used to the dark. :) We would used this motel again in a heartbeat. read more

I'm staying here RIGHT NOW. The room is spotless and the owners are fantastic. Can they adopt me? I will stay here every time I go to Crater Lake even though other fine (but certainly lesser hotels) are closer to it. Staying here is part of a vanishing America that is harder to find with big chain hotels dominating the landscape. Did I mention petting the owner's dog Francesca when we checked in? She brought out her stuffed toy to show us. What a great dog! Did I mention that Luisa turned on the AC in the room so it would be nice and cool for our arrival? The owner is a lovely Italian lady who is determined to make everyone feel as though they are a VIP. What a great place to stay, Luisa is so sweet and greets you right away in very personal way. The room was so clean, and we had plenty of everything we needed. Luisa even put fresh flowers in our room. They have fresh coffee and real glass coffee cups to drink out of. There were real creamers and not the powder kind. Every room has two chairs outside with a snack table to sit outside and enjoy relaxing. They also have chairs in a grassy area so you can sit out there too. Luisa helps with restaurant suggestions and things to do. It is not a fancy motel but is so much better. We have stayed here before and plan on returning next year. We found this family owned motel to be very quiet and especially clean. I was pleasantly surprised to find real flowers in the bud vase. Nice seating area in front of our room so we could relax and enjoy the night air. The rates were very affordable compared to other chain motels in Klamath Falls. This old-fashioned motel is a little gem. For 1/2 of what any of the big chains charge, you'll get a serviceable, very clean room with fresh flowers on the table, a comfy bed, TV, small fridge & microwave, coffee maker & a super clean bathroom with a gorgeous tiled shower! No, it's not in the center of town but is within less than 4 miles & it's pretty quiet. The proprietor is THE sweetest lady & takes time to give you restaurant tips, directions, etc. & wants to be sure you're enjoying your stay. There is free wi-fi & small packs of ice if you need them. She'll also ask if you need a hair dryer (I bring my own) & even her dog is super friendly! So what if there's no free breakfast (boring), pool (I never use them anyway), or workout room (ditto!). For what you save staying here, go have breakfast at Nibbley's, get pastries at one of the many good bakeries around & still have $ left for a nice dinner! Only reasons it's not 5 stars is the A/C unit is old & noisy but hey, it works just fine. And the towels are a little small & thin, but at least they're soft & not scratchy. read more

This is by no means a luxury hotel. Situated across the street from the Home Depot along the truck sales strip, it is a classic low-dollar roadside motel. That said, the place is clean, comfortable and the owners have to be the nicest people on the planet. They do everything possible to run a clean and family-friendly place that accommodates most needs, and I think they do so successfully. I take a medication that has to stay refrigerated, an impossible task on a 2-week road trip. Based on the reviews here and elsewhere, I contacted the owners to see if they would allow me to ship the medicine to them, which meant them keeping it refrigerated until my arrival. They were so nice about it! I was able to ship the meds and move forward with the trip with confidence. Sure enough, upon my arrival, the meds were waiting, refrigerated and ready for me to take. We stayed at much nicer hotels on our trip, but I can't think of one that would provide the level of personal service I received at Golden West. read more

At first, the motel does not look like much. However, as soon as I pulled into the driveway, I was immediately greeted by the owners. They were very nice, and made the check-in easy. they said to call if anything happened. As a young traveler, traveling alone for the first time, I was nervous at first but they reassured me. The room was so quaint, and I was honestly surprised with the personal touches (flowers in the room, candies) and the quality of the facilities (the bathroom was modern, the shower was nice). The price was an absolute steal, and I was able to book the night before. So as I drove up to the office this nice lady came out of the door and she stood there, she waved to me I got out of my car and she said you must be Tina, I said well yes I am and she said I know who all my guests are. She got me all checked-in she asked if I was going to have dinner and she asked if I was going to have breakfast and she recommended places for me to eat. She was very nice and pleasant. This place is awesome! We arrived late around 9pm and we were greeted with smiles and the cutest dog around. They kindly told us of some great breakfast places and were just ridiculously nice. This is such a nice change from chain motels. They have all sorts of channels for post drive tv watching. There is coffee, cream, a mini fridge, a table, a desk...all very clean and spacious.
