I told them it's literally hanging like I can't take the other side off. May I bring him in and the assistant said the doctor said no to take him to UMC HOSPITAL . I said but my copay is $500 . She can't wait 15 minutes extra just to get my son looked and we can fix this she said no. Where is the sympathy or empathy or the care or consideration. The receptionist said she had left a message the day before telling me this. I did not get that message - but even if I had, how was I supposed to get a referral the day before with my daughter in school? There had been plenty of time to check this to give me the opportunity to get one. I called my insurance and they said they hadn't changed their protocol and if a referral was needed that information would have been available to the provider when they checked my insurance when I made the appointment. So my daughter missed school and I lost my morning for nothing.
