This is the quintessential greasy spoon. Small, down and dirty (figuratively) ambiance with a deep menu, solid food and friendly service. Coffee was good, refills were fast. The tuna melt was barebones yet quite satisfying. The coleslaw was dialed in. Staff was nice but were not as polished/experienced as I would have expected. This diner is by far has some of the nicest people working there. The cook in the morning is a first class one of a kind guy. He truly cares about the food and the his customers. It's sad when you go to other diners and all they care about is the wrong people. Tinys loves to take care of his regulars, in fact they know my family are early birds and doesn't mind letting them in a few minutes early so they can sit in from the cold. They go above and beyond always to make sure my family is happy and always leaving full. Yes they are a little pricey, but it's riverdale and honestly what's not pricey now. The egg prices are absolutely ridiculous now and if you buy them your self you are paying an arm and a leg. I don't mind paying a little more especially when you are valued and cared for. The lunch and dinner I don't find the greatest but the breakfast by far is very good. read more

I was in the Bronx today looking for a place for breakfast and I happened upon Tinys Diner. This little spot made us an Excellent breakfast. I had the French toast made with challah bread and it was so good I ate the whole thing. I never finish my breakfast but this time I practically licked the plate. Then I asked the guy if he could make an egg cream and he said, "could I ever". He made us some egg creams that tasted like the ones I used to get when I was a teenager. My sister, her boyfriend, and I came here for bfast. It was not crowded. We waited over 40 minutes for an omelette, challah french toast, and a tuna melt. When we asked our waiter where our food was he said it was coming and then I saw him arguing with the cook bc the food slip was clearly lost. I had dinner tonight with my mom at Tiny's. Honestly, it was heartbreaking to watch Kim, who is lovely and works her butt off, struggling to wait on 4 or 5 tables, bus her own tables, handle the cash register, and manage all of the takeout orders and the problems that were happening on the takeout apps. Management is clearly expecting one person to do four jobs. It's a disgrace. I have been going to this restaurant for most of my life and tonight was the first time I felt like I didn't want to go back. The service is horribly slow because one person can't juggle running a busy restaurant all by herself. Overworking the staff to death is like watching a small animal being tortured. The customers suffer because management is too cheap to hire more help. It's very sad that a restaurant so integral to Riverdale is going down the tubes due to poor management. My review was five years ago. I have since visited once in 2022 and called in an order. My in person experience was negative, I sat at the counter for literally 10 minutes before even anybody acknowledged my presence. I understand they were busy but they literally avoided looking at me even though they were less than a foot away. That's not how you welcome people to your business. I also watched them arguing with each other unnecessarily behind the counter. I also called in an order and sat on the line for well over 15 minutes back-and-forth and never got through. I went out, moved the car and parked 1 block away and get back to my wife still waiting to be brought menus or water or a high chair or at least say, i will be with you shortly. I need a menu, he is like sorry and puts his phone away. then another girl comes and says i will be with you and we are "ok, maybe its better". She comes back and takes our order and we also asked for a baby cup as they dont seem to realize we have a 2 year old there.. We wait and wait and wait wondering why it took 15+ minutes to get pancakes and their special of the day and 1 omelette with american cheese (never get this).. Food comes in, looks great and taste great. we now see 7 people manning the front and kitchen but place is not packed, someone that looked like the owner as he was just standing by doing nothing and the other with the phone still ( maybe family). Back when this place was Blue Moon and Dennis was the cook there was a waiter who knew my order backwards and forward. Sadly since becoming Tiny's the place has gone down hill. The first problem is the pricing. I know Riverdale is expensive but no way should an omelette be over $8 Everything is just priced through the roof. MichaelAnn and Ashanti are great. It is great that Dennis is here too. However the quality of the food is meh. I ordered a Penne a La Vodka which came with chicken. The chicken was rubbery and the sauce was flavorless. Next was a florentine omelette. Mind you the menu states Feta Cheese, Spinach and eggs. Yet mine had onions which was making me sick. I got an iced tea to drink and that had a funny taste to it. My Mother got a tuna wrap and small coffee. The total? $60+ and along with tip almost $75 The prices need to be lowered. The menu needs better specification of what is included. Lastly the size of the text in the menu needs to be bigger. I will just stay with breakfast items and go here and there. If things improve I'll rescore the review. Is this diner operating under new management? I have gone to Tiny's Diner a few times and while it's by no means well presented or delicious, it satisfies that diner craving. After picking up my order and opening at home ... wow! What a disappointment. We ordered egg white omelettes and got this weird textured, tasteless egg scramble thing and the pancakes were burnt and falling apart. For $28, I expected at the very least proper omelettes and presentable, tasty pancakes. I will definitely put Tiny's on pause indefinitely. That's a shame, it was my quick 'go to' for diner type food that was somewhat edible. I am being generous with 2 stars for this specific order. Most likely, this will be my last review of Tiny's. We were pleasantly surprised when we did 2 orders back in February. They were great and prompt. I revised my previous review, from October 2012. Once again, I am revising it. From our third order until today, they have gotten more careless with each order, ie left things out, and we're no longer prompt. We were ready to give them benefit of the doubt, but it is happening too often. I will stick with the last three orders, fir my review. Three orders ago, we ordered gyros, no onions because of allergies. Not only did it have onions, but it was mostly onions. I also received onion rings, not curly fries. A huge slap in the face. Last order, I ordered a buffalo burger with bacon. I got cheese with it. I am lactose intolerant, so that was a waste. My wife asked for her burger to be medium, she got a burnt, puck. She could not eat it. A total waste of money. Today's order, I got a chicken gyro. No onions this time, but it was mostly lettuce and tomatoes. Three small slices of meat for the whole thing. They also forgot to send my fries. When they arrived, my curly fries were burnt and inedible. We tried to give them a fair shot and the benefit of the doubt, but not anymore. I'm PIST! Just ordered a $15 wrap from this place. I started to eat the well presented wrap. But unfortunately the chicken was chewy and hard. It's didn't seem like old chicken and didn't seem undercook. So I decided to call to inform them and request a new wrap be sent. Until this point no biggie. But here was their response: Sorry we don't exchange food. I got upset and told them that wasn't aceptable. Then she said she would talk to the chef "Dennis" of whom also said no exchanges. He said no one else had complaint about any chicken today, therefore they won't be sending me a new wrap. I asked manager and they said they were all gone for the day. Then I asked for a refund and the waitress said that was impossible. I again expressed how unacceptable this was, especially since it was a $15 wrap. I said I wanted a refund again and she then proceeded to say "we can t refund you, but you can come and get a new wrap." I told her it was a delivery and that I am home with my 2 babies. Not sure if mentioning the kids changed her mind. So she then proceeded to say they would make the new wrap but that it would take over an hour for delivery. In any event, your policy SUCKS! I been here couple of times and compared to other diners in the neighborhood, I wouldn't pick Tiny's Diner as my first option. I came for breakfast the first time they opened, and I wasn't impressed with the food or the service. However, I decided to give this place a second shot, because I do love the warm, cozy setting it provides. The service definitely got better, and the workers pay much more attention to their customers, yet I was disappointed by their food. I got an omelet and my friend got panini and both dishes were too salty. My omelet was dry and the content inside my omelet was nonexistent. My friend's panini was so soggy that he couldn't even pick it up. I probably won't be going back (at least for a long time). -giving 3 stars bc service improved, and hopefully their food can too. read more

So my review is for a delivery order. First time ordering from this place. The delivery guy came within quoted time frame and was very pleasant. I ordered a turkey burger with sauteed onions and mushrooms. Also ordered a cheeseburger and buffalo burger for others. The packaging was a bit sloppy as the three cole slaw were packaged together, with no tops and mayo spilling all over. Hence the reason for the three stars. I am at a loss as to how anyone can give this place five stars and not feel guilty for dishonoring the Yelp review system. I have tried Tiny's three times now and every time they have found new ways to disappoint. The servers still act as if it's their first day waiting tables. The food takes a very long time to arrive, and when it does there's inevitably a problem or difference from what the menu states. I ordered a breakfast entree today (which was misspelled on the menu, [South of the Boarder, are we on a ship, or is this a youth hostile?] that described eggs on black beans. When it came it was on Heinz Baked Beans. Baked Beans! With Salsa and eggs, was what they brought me. My wife's pancakes tasted of soap. They told us they were having problems with the stove. Maybe they thought the dishwasher was the stove for a minute. There are some good ideas here, the menu is interesting and not over-priced. The space is nice, if somewhat garish. Every element of the execution is wrong, however. The servers are fundamentally terrible in every way, despite meaning well: They don't know the menu They don't communicate what comes with the dish you're ordering They openly squabble about tables in front of customers, this is probably due to a lack in structure regarding the pooling and distribution of tips which needs to be done on a managerial level They regularly drop food at the wrong tables (of which there are only twelve or so) There is clearly no standard operating procedure for them to work with, that is to say: when a customer leaves you clear the table, then set it up again for the next customer before you move on. For a place with a high rate of turnover like a diner in Riverdale this is absolutely essential. No amount of kitsch (pictures of Clark Gable or Captain America) will make up for a clear and overwhelming lack of organization. One experienced server could handle that entire place with no problem and make a decent living in tips, but two inexperienced people on the floor creates an unacceptable number of mistakes and half the money for each person. The place runs like it's the first restaurant on Earth and they're just now trying to figure out how serve six or seven people eggs and bread at the same time. Tiny: for you to be in business for more than a year you've got to fix your sloppy fundamentals. Everyone in the neighborhood wants you to succeed. I propose you spend more time interviewing servers and training your staff and less time picking out ever-changing colored lights for behind the counter. read more

Thy have a wide variety of food and everything looked good. The last time I was there I had a cheese steak and it was delicious. Its in a great location. Right on riverdale avenue. I was happy for them since we are in need of a new diner in the area. We were greeted kindly and immedately but unfortunately that is where the good part of the meal ended. It took 30 minutes to get our food and when it arrived my wife's sandwich was on a roll and one of my eggs was fully fried. we did not have time or the incentive to have them change it since it took 30 minutes or them to get it for us in the first place. as we were leaving, on e of the other customers started complaining about the wait and the waiter started to talk back to the customer in a rather loud and petulant voice (having been in food service for 20 years I know that is not how to handle the situation). I would like to be kinder in my scoring of this new restaurant, but I cannot. The atmosphere was nice but considering what we ordered, there should have been no wait.
