Growler's Tavern had the best drink specials. I had an Apple Bush beer for $2-3. Service was fair. I liked how they had many play areas with games, fuse ball, video games, and pool tables. It was not too crowded. We congregated at a nice sitting area to hear the ghost stories and got to see the original door and area of the barbershop untouched.

What should have been a joyful occasion was marred by an egregious display of arbitrary authority from one of the front-door staff. Upon arrival, 2 members of our party were finishing their drinks outside, a common and reasonable practice before entering another bar. One individual finished his beer (which he set down outside on a table at The Ivy) and attempted to enter. The staff member at the door, who had visibly watched him finish it, refused entry. This was not about policy enforcement; it was the beginning of a clear power trip. Rather than joining the rest of the wedding party, our friend went next door to The Ivy, where he enjoyed a drink and danced for about 20 minutes. He then returned to Blue Post, was screened by two other staff members without issue, and was allowed inside. He was simply talking with friends when the original staff member sought him out within the bar and ejected him--for no discernible reason, no violation of any posted rules, and no disturbance whatsoever. The decision appeared entirely personal and capricious. For context, the bouncers at The Ivy (literally next door) were stunned when we recounted the events. They confirmed there was no law or standard rule being broken and found the handling of the situation baffling and unprofessional. They also saw him drink and set the drink outside, but had no problem with him entering their establishment multiple times. In an industry built on hospitality, especially in a social setting like a bar during a wedding celebration, this level of pettiness and lack of basic customer respect is disappointing. A single employee's ego should not dictate the experience of an entire group trying to celebrate together. We spent money at Blue Post and expected a night of fun, not an exercise in arbitrary exclusion. I would caution others, particularly larger groups or those celebrating special occasions, to consider whether this is the right venue. There are plenty of welcoming bars in Wilmington that understand how to balance reasonable policies with good judgment and basic courtesy. Unfortunately, Blue Post fell far short on this occasion immensely. I've heard many same sentiments about this place from locals.

By the bar is an indoor theater where we sat at and had our drinks for the pub crawl. The creepiest place in our pub crawl tour was at that theater area by The Rooftop Bar. We used a tiny elevator to go up to this bar. There are stairs to go up and down the floors to the bar if the elevator is too cramped or too long of a wait. The server at the bar was pretty and kind. I was in awe of the views behind the plexiglass and the sunset over the water in Wilmington and the USS Battleship North Carolina. This is a bar I would definitely go to again just to see the spectacular views.

The Rooftop bar is on the 5th story of the building it is in. There is an elevator, but if you are a glutton for punishment, you can take the stairs. The drinks are very reasonable. 3 beers cost me $10. Not a huge selection of draft beer, but many others in cans/bottles. Bartender was very good, friendly and efficient. The bar is in the middle, with seats all around. You can also take you drinks to seating outside with better views of the Cape Fear River. One section gives you a great view of the battleship across the river. There are criticism in other reviews about the views, which I get. The Southside views are mostly looking at the rooftops of other buildings, not that they can change that. There are other obstructions they can control if they wanted which would improve the viewing experience. The bar is very laid back, with a mixed crowd. Recommend.

I ask them to move and let me in because it's my 21st and I wanted to get a picture in the cage. Right?! No. They were so rude to me and wouldn't let me in to take photos. Then my boyfriend gets annoyed and asks them to please move. This is where things take a turn.... I was slipping down shots trying to enjoy my 21st. And... the guys from the cage decided my boyfriend and I were their targets for the night. Long story short... these men started throwing punches at my boyfriend. The security never saw it, never did anything to ensure my safety or my bfs. My boyfriend had to defend himself against 4 men. It was literally a shit show. We complained to the bouncers many times that we felt unsafe and were just trying to have a good night. We explained it was my birthday and we weren't looking for any trouble. I will never get to redo my 21st.... now it's a memory tainted by drunken punches. F*** this place and the incompetent bouncers.

Tony the bartender was very patient with my request for a flight of local beer with no IPAs or hoppy beers. He picked out: 2: Wrightsville Beach Orange Crush, 3. Waterline Kolsh, 4. Teaches Peaches, 1. Watermelon Dragon Fruit Burst. I was familiar with the first three and loved them. I jokingly refer to Wrightsville Beach Orange Crush as creamsicle beer. It isn't too sweet, but the Orange flavor is quite strong. The Waterline Kolsh is light and very easy to drink. The Teaches Peaches is one of my favorites due to its light fruity flavor. The Watermelon Dragon Fruit Burst was a wildcard in Tony's lineup. This sour was a refreshing way to mix up my beer tasting. My friend also got a flight and didn't like one of the beers he chose. Tony swapped it out for a different beer as soon as I told him and the new one was well-received. My favorite part of this visit was that Tony decided to bring me a sample of the 8. Firestone Walker Mind Haze, because it was a non-hoppy IPA and he thought I might like it. It wasn't my fave, but I really appreciated the opportunity to try something new. I snacked on free popcorn all during my visit. The popcorn machine is in the back. Also in the back are single-stall restrooms. Tavern Law has an A+ in my book because they have great local beer on tap and they are gay friendly.

She only gave me an itemized receipt and actually told me not to tip her... what?? I always tip. I insisted on a new receipt that I could actually sign. Other patrons witnessed this and were super confused and apologetic. Nice military oriented wholesome crowd, but I wouldn't expect great bar service here.
