The reason why I'm giving this salon one star is because how I was treated 10 mInutes ago. This was my 5th visit...so I have experience there. I felt a "resistance " vibe before many times but I continued to support and give great tips! Today I was 3 mins late and the first thing the owner said to me was "You were late", and NEVER said anything else for 45 mins. Not a greeting, or any words! His wife the owner was just as cold to me. Remember, I've patron this spa in the past, so they both know me. I felt like he was prejudiced towards me as I compared him speak and converse with many many white customers. By the way, I'm Black. Kevin stated my toe nails were too short and asked me did I cut them? Once in the past., he stated if I touch or cut my toe nails again before I arrive to him. he would turn me away! True and honest review I decided to share. Ann, his wife didn't greet me or ask how i was doing? A greeting is standard at a minimum for great service. When my pedicure was finished, Ann only stated "You arw done" and I felt dismissed and I felt like her energy and vibe was just as offensive. As I began to put on my socks and shoes.Kevin asked me if everything was alright? I replied back. "Oh. you are speaking to me now. as I leave?" He stated I had my ear buds on. ..yes i did, but only one on low. I am not on my cell talking "at all" and I'm always on time...except 3 mins today and when I walked in I acknowledge to Ann I came from Chesapeake to Va Beach is why I was 3 mins late. I felt so much animosity and ill feelings from Kevin because my toe nails wasn't as he preferred them to be for him. I told both Kevin and Ann I would not be back and I paid and exited the business. I can honestly say... I will not return back or refer my friends to Tip and Toe! imagine both Kevin and Ann both communicating to their white clients one on one while I'm waiting for my services. and suddenly neither one of them were engaging..smiled or even greeted me ...needless to say I wanted to just walk out based on that sort of service when my anxiety was difficult to be quiet and not say a word! I believed and it is my truth that I was being singled out and it was unacceptable and unprofessional and they both exhibited a cavalier attitude towards me and because I've experienced it every time I went...Tip and Toe is off the Radar for me forever! I swear what I am about to say is the honest truth. Yesterday I walked in waited for a minute to even be acknowledged. Then a lady comes from the back and says "I'm sorry we don't have time right now." THE SAME THING that was said to another black woman on this review site!!!!! I asked what time they closed and she replied, "whenever we get ready but we don't have time for you!" You do the math! Don't support this place if you have an ounce of morality in your body. first of all this is not a place with 20 people working , you need to make an appointment !!!you cant just walk in and be seen. There are only two people working there husband and wife. First let me say my nails look amazzzzing so I'm really disappointed by the interaction I had with the nail tech. After reading the other reviews I called ahead to make sure they weren't too busy. Initially she asked me to come at 4. She called me at 1:45 and asked me to come at 230 so I did. When I arrived she noticed I had on red polish and she was annoyed I wanted a French manicure. She said getting the red off would be a "pain in the butt". She offered to do the same color in dip powder and stated it would be much easier. I told her I really wanted the French tips and my polish wasn't gel, just regular sally hansen. Instead of soaking my nails to make sure all the red was removed she decided to aggressively grind my nails. (At the end of the appt she mentioned she didn't typically grind that much and now that she knew me she wouldn't do it next time.) I can't imagine how thin my nails are under this dip powder. Next she was annoyed by the short length I wanted. I explained I started IVs and couldn't do that with long nails. She asked if my work allowed us to have nails, to which I replied yes and she stated she wasn't aware nurses were allowed to have nails. There were a few other "jabs" here and there but the last one I remember was when she was done with my nails. Again, they looked excellent and probably best dip French mani I've ever had. When she was done she looked at my nails and said "yeah they look better now! Now you can go home and tell your husband to buy you a bigger ring". I'm clutching my pearls at this point and can't believe the nerve of this woman!! I was so nice, I didn't walk in, I repeatedly thanked her for squeezing me in last minute, I left a generous tip...I don't know what I could've done different. Honestly my nails look so good I might go back one more time and pray she was just having a terrible day lol read more

I have been going to this family owned nail Salon for over 10 years. You have to make an appt, but believe me it's worth it. Kevin and Ann are the only ones working, so be patient but they stick to your appt times. Normally pedicure I'm in and out in 45 min. Love meeting a lot of the customers, many from the neighborhood and a lot travel from bordering cities too . . Always lots of laughter with them. read more

I am thankful for this lady named Anne who gave me advice on how to properly manage peeling skin on my feet which I had learned from her that it came from sweat. However, I don't like how the gel paint she put on lasted for less than a day before it started chipping off. read more

I have been getting my nails done by Anne and Kevin at T&N Nails for about 5 years now. It is a super clean shop, that is done up very nice inside thanks to all of Kevin's hard work. Kevin and Anne are married and opened the shop together as their family business. It is usually just them there, and maybe a few family members that they pull in on busy days. They do take walk-ins, but you are better off having an appointment, since it is usually just the two of them. I usually get my nails done every two weeks and get a pedicure every four. They always do a fantastic job and they keep me laughing the whole time I am there. Anne even likes to call my phone to make sure I don't forget about my appointments. I started coming here for pedicures in 2009. Bar none, they are the best. I've had pedicures and manicure at high end hotels and spas across the country that charge triple, and I would pick these guys if given a choice. Yes, the other reviews are right, this isn't a place where you can just "walk in"... you need to call ahead and see if they have an opening. They are that busy. But it's worth it. I was running errands in VB and needed my nails done. The reviews were good so I stopped by. When I walked in after a few awkward seconds a lady rudely asked me "Can I help you". I told her what I wanted and was told "We only have one lady that can do that, we don't have time.". Nothing else was said to me. She went back to the pedicure she was doing. They are clearly understaffed & rude. I felt unwelcome & unless you are a special customer or something, I guess they don't need your business. read more

Kevin is rude and unfriendly. Anne is condescending and sarcastic. Their kid is out of control and makes the mani-pedi experience not very relaxing with all his running, yelling, and throwing his action figures in my foot bath. Anne stopped mid-pedi on me to tend to a regular client and the tech that finished my mani/pedi did a horrible job. The one star I am giving them is for the decor and not charging extra for toe designs, other than that... NEVER AGAIN! read more

I'm writing a review for my wife. My wife went here today to get a pedicure. This is one of the shittiest nail polish jobs I've ever seen. I'm a guy and saw every flaw from afar. The girl providing the service looked and was dressed like she left the gym. It doesn't matter if your working for a corporation or small business you should dress professionally and act like a professional. My mom and I have been coming to get pedicures and manicures here since they opened! Ann and Kevin are the nicest people and make you feel welcome upon entering the salon. They also do amazing work! There has never been a time when I have left disappointed or upset with my services. I highly recommend this place to anyone. You definitely need an appointment though! I just went into the salon for a pedicure. Two children were running around the salon out of control. A little boy (2-3 year old) was jumping up and down in the couch where clients wait for service. Even though an older gentleman was on the couch, no one asked the little one to sit down. After being asked to select a color a 10-year-old started scrubbing the basin where I was to sit. I told them I would have to come back another day. Please don't take your children to work with you! Your customers come to be pampered and relax. read more
