I've been going to Tip Top for over 10 years, because they have a decent selection of cocktail ingredients. Today, for the first time ever, the owner told me I have to use a tap card to pay, instead of the ordinary insert/swipe card I've been using for years. My bank (a large regional bank) does not issue tap cards yet. So I had to put the bottles back on the shelf and drive across the street to Big John's. I know tap cards are trending but have never encountered a store that forced their customers to use them. Seems like Tip Top has hit rock bottom ... and just lost a loyal, long-time customer along the way. read more

I had previously been a customer of TikTok Blicker on and off for over two decades. But after a recent experience with the owner of all people, I will not be shopping there again. I cannot believe the level of rudeness and shortness that he had with a customer. It was almost as if he was on drugs, how aggressive he was trying to get me out of the store. I forgot my wallet and had gone to go get it, and then when I came back, he was only more aggressive and accuse me of wasting his time. I attempted to pick out some value shots from the $.99 jar when he grabbed it away from me and accused me of wasting his time and asked me what I want and asked me if I still wanted what I had put aside and despite the fact that it was a hard cider that I had never seen before and looked interesting. I did not want to support his business after that level of rudeness. Hopefully, I will find it elsewhere, but I will not buy it from him. he has every right to run his business the way that he wants, it is not illegal to be a asshole but seeing as this is the most society appropriate outlet I thought I should let you know he's an impatient asshole who may or may not be methed out; but is certainly rude! read more

Am I upset? Absolutely! My caregiver, who presented two forms of ID, was denied a purchase for me by the woman cashier on duty. Two forms of photo ID proving that she is 21, and the woman rudely turned her away. We'll be taking all our business elsewhere! read more

Lady working said I looked really young and I gave her my ID and drivers license and she still didn't believe me which I thought was really rude I even showed her pictures of me on my birthday so I left and took my money somewhere else. I even told her to scan it and she said she couldn't what kind of liquor store is this.. just because I look young I mean I'll take that compliment but the fact that she didn't believe me. Racist treatment of people of color. My two friends and I, Hispanics and black, walked in here about a week ago at around 4:20pm looking for tequila. We were looking at the selection for a about 2 minutes when the clerk (an older Asian man) walks away from the register to ask us if we need help. When we tell him "no, we're okay", he still lingers there watching our every move. About 2 minutes later he tells us to hurry because he has to close shop. He began to rush us to buy soon because he has to close right now. I didn't bother to look at my clock when he said this because i gave him the benefit of the doubt that he wasnt racially profiling us. But right after i paid for my tequila, I asked him what time do u close, and he said 5pm. It was 4:30pm. I showed him the clock on my phone, he glanced at it, but did not respond. White customers , about 4 of them walked in at around this time frame and he didnt say a word to them about having to close right now. In he didnt approach them to ask if they needed help. He didnt stare at them as they browsed the merchandise. He just kept ringing their purchases when they were ready to pay. More customers arrived after we had left the building and he kept on servicing them. So we felt racially profiled and discriminated. If you've ever seen the movie Menace II Society, the scene where the 2 young black men get discriminated by the liquor store clerks and told to "hurry up, and buy", our experience here was reminiscent of that scene. read more

Ya know, I have no reason not to like this place, in fact I've been here 100 times for absinthe and other exotic spirits that i can't find at safeway. I was at big Johns and figured Id save a trip and run across to tip top to get a couple of cases of Bogle merlot that someone asked me to get for them. This guy demanded to know who wanted the merlot because "that stuff is crap" ....Wow, does Bogle know you talk that way about their wines? He then said "The only wines from Bogle worth drinking are the essential red and old vine Zin. And tried to sell it to me... Thanks for the tip mr tip top somellier ....Do you sell allot of wine insulting the taste of your customers? Unless you need something safeway doesn't have , skip this place. read more

I wanted to have a bottle of wine delivered to a friend that was staying at a hotel in Healdsburg. The hotel recommended I call Tip Top. I spoke to Prem. He was working alone on the day that I called but still took the time to go over his recommendations while serving customers in the store. He also gave me a 10% discount on the bottle I purchased and delivered it to the hotel free of charge. Great customer service! read more

Went in the store to ask for a bottle of something. My friend was in there not 5 minutes prior and showed me his receipt for the same bottle. Owner claims he sold out. Not 5 minutes later, another friend stopped in and they sold him a bottle. An owner that lies to his customers means I won't bother shopping here again in the future and would recommend against it to anyone else. read more

This place is phenomenal. I called to have a couple bottles of liquor delivered to a friend. Prem completely went the extra mile. Not only did he personally deliver the bottles to my friend at the house she rented, but when she wasn't there, he went back to make sure she received them. He also gift wrapped the bottles to add an extra special touch. The prices are totally reasonable too. This kind of customer service is a rarity! Let's encourage by buying local! One of my favorite place ! The owner and his workers are the best !. They are always smiling and always helpful ! Great people ! They will probably give you a deal too depending on what you are getting . All I know is they got my business for sure ! Please check then out and give them some credit . I am not a regular but in do stop in when I am looking for something exotic. They have one of the best selections of spirits in the county. Most of my experiences have been good but two stand out as sub par. I purchased an expensive bottle of whiskey that he swore was the last one he would be able to get. The following week I see that same bottle in there again. I think he embellishes to make a sale sometimes. My other experience was his response to a comment I made asking if he ever goes home. As a transplant myself I often ask this of people that are from a different area. He took offense to my question and started to lecture me about how I can not ask that question. He told me I need to watch what I say because the president blah blah blah. I apologized for the misunderstanding and told him I was only curious. Needless to say I will not be going back to this establishment. I don't need a lecture on political correctness from a liquor store clerk. read more

I had such an incredible experience with Prim from Tip Top Liquor. I had no idea ordering beer kegs could feel so personable. I initially called Prim 1 month prior to the wedding but he said it was too soon for orders and he would call me in two weeks. Low and behold, two weeks later I had a voicemail from Prim saying it was time to place my orders! He told me exactly what and how much to get. I was able to pay for it ahead of time. This was all so nice for a busy bride in the final month of wedding planning. I am so impressed with Tip Top Liquor... Healdsburg's hidden gem! read more

My initial contact with Tip Top would have earned it 4-5 stars - they were very helpful on the phone a couple weeks before my wedding in Healdsburg, advising how much beer and ice to get for the weekend (150 guests). However, I was extremely disappointed in them for the following reasons: 1) they told me not to order ice in advance since they always have enough, but in fact they RAN OUT and had NO ice when my friend went to pick up the keg and ice; 2) they encouraged me to pay for my order ahead of time, ensuring that it would be easy to cancel anything I decided I didn't need at a later date, but then once I called to cancel one of the kegs, they wouldn't give my friend my refund back and I had to make an extra trip there; 3) I ordered specific kegs over a week ahead of time, one of which was not available when my friend went to pick it up - what is the point in ordering and pre-paying for a keg if it will not be available??? They get 2 stars because at least they were seemingly helpful initially, but I would not return there were I to have another event in the Healdsburg area. read more
