We come here EVERY week. We started about 1.5 years ago, we stopped in one time for the tacos and immediately fell in love. Daniel started recognizing us and a beautiful relationship between us & Tippy's was underway. We now have a tradition of coming in every Sunday morning because Jaime and Nancy are unbelievable. Those two are the definition of a true asset. We've never had a bad meal on Sunday. Friday night however, is a different story. The younger girls in the front don't seem to care as much about Tippys...and the difference in experience from Friday to Sunday is very noticeable. All in all, Tippys is a historic Warrenton landmark and a MUST TRY for anyone who has never been! Cheap food yes, but the hot items are hot and the cold items are cold. The service and ambiance are fine; nice service at the counter but other employees were having a bad day. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean. We used to frequent this restaurant at another location, which we LOVED: crispy tacos, flavor-loaded beef, and to-die-for taco sauce. In contrast, at this location the taco shells did not taste so fresh, the beef was bland, and the taco sauce--the SPICY taco sauce--tasted very much like ketchup... and not even spicy ketchup at that. The crew working the evening of June 5th 2025 was useless. The young girl working the counter couldn't figure out the clover system so couldn't figure out my discount.. she asked the two guys in the back and they ignored her when she asked them twice. Then when the guy brought my food he didn't say a word.. they all just followed me out to the front patio to light up again like they were when I arrived... nachos had a spoonful of cheese and the 4 hard shell taco shells were broken.. if I EVER see this crew working I'll go somewhere else. I'm hooked on this food. It's so very good. Nothing fancy, very low key place. Quality and flavor is fantastic.

As someone who grew up in San Antonio, Texas and knows hella about Tex Mex food, I did not view the food to be even close to what you would get at a typical Tex Mex place. While the wait staff was nice and helpful, they were on their cell phones and not really showing the best customer service skills. There was about 3 instances where one of the girls on their phones when I needed something. Now onto the food lol. The food was meh. My friend and I went to get a meal and I ordered a chicken taco salad and he got a bean burrito. His bean burrito was just a slab of beans and he said it felt like "it was microwaved for like 8 minutes." Each bite felt like lava haha. Now onto mine, the olives kinda confused me since it was the first time I've personally seen them on a Tex mex meal, however that was not the worst part. The chicken was hella cold and unseasoned. I don't even think salt was on it...the "edible" shell was burnt and tasted stale. I couldn't enjoy the salad. Also that ketchup mild sauce??? I'm fairly sure the "hot sauce" is actually mild sauce like Texas Pete or something. We did like the queso and chips tho. The chips were fresh-ish. Also appreciated the fact the food came out fairly quick. I'm not typically someone to write a review but the experience was not that great and hope that my review can help them improve and make their future customers have a better experience than we had. I've been coming here since I was little but today will be the last day. The queso is no longer good. The chips were super stale and the chicken was bad because it did not taste right. I LOVE Tippy's Taco. I used to go to the one up in Fairfax, but that was years ago. So my wife told me about this one and how she would go to this one with some friends from work. So absolutely I was down to go one day after a visit to Luray Caverns. This place is awesome. It sort of has that "hole in the wall" feeling. The woman at the register who took our order and delivered our food was super nice. I saw her clear and clean 2 or 3 tables pretty quickly. The food was AWESOME. I had the Mexican pizza... annnnnd... 3 tacos, one bean and two beef. Yeah. I've been craving this place for awhile. All of it was just awesome. They had this sauce on the table, so I had that on my tacos. It was really great. Spicy. But not DEATH spicy. It had a REAL great flavor too. I'll be coming back. read more

How is this restaurant in business? I can make better Mexican food at home. I guess that's why you have to order and pay for your food at the counter first when you walk in. They would be giving free meals to unhappy customers. Everything we were served was room temperature, the nachos had a blob of refried beans with unmelted blobs of white American cheese. No flavor and waaaay too much beans. The Mexican pizza again was a mushy mess of beans on a soggy (supposed to be crispy) tortilla with unmelted cheese. All room temperature. The enchiladas were literally cold and the sauce tasted like a can of hormel chili. I took 1 bite and was disgusted. The fish tacos "looked" great but once the smell hit my nose I again was disgusted, there was something rotten on those fish tacos. The best thing I had was my corona beer with lime, and that's probably the only thing that saved me from getting food poisoning, because none of the food was hot. This is all food from a can, and the ground beef is mush the refried beans had more texture then the ground "beef" meat! I was shocked this place is serving this quality of food, it's like middle school lunch or struggle meals. We will never be back. read more

Ate lunch here today for the first time - ordered the Super Nachos - with black olives added in - and a Diet Coke. When I lived in Centreville, I used to frequent the Tippy's in Centreville, and often I ordered the Super Nachos. It appears as if there are differences in how the various Tippy's prepare certain dishes - for example the cheese the Centreville Tippy's puts on their Super Nachos is a creamy cheddar/nacho like sauce, whereas the Warrenton Tippy's uses a white Monterey jack cheese. And the Centreville Tippy's did not provide Guacamole on the dish - you had to pay for a side of Guacamole. The Super Nachos come with jalapenos, chili, sour cream, and guacamole, plus the black olives I had them add. Nachos were tasty, although I was wishing the quantity were just a tad more. read more

I write reviews for the really good and the really bad. This is the latter. When you don't see cars in the parking lot that's a sign. The food was OK. The service was non-existent, she took my order brought my food no other contact. We ate inside the restaurant. We should have been given fly swatters upon entering. I ended up putting some of my food on another table to lure the swarm away. Tables were dirty, floors were dirty, trash cans were full. The employee behind the counter was goofing around on her phone while my wife and I are cleaning our table shooing the flies off our food. If I owned the place I would put a few cameras in the place with remote viewing capability. I've eaten at Tippy's in Warrenton for many years. It's always been a bit rundown, that was never an issue. Flies, dirty tables, floors and overflowing trash cans make you wonder about what goes on in the kitchen. These employees are killing your business! read more

Tippy's has been in Warrenton a long time. A feat not easy to achieve. I had the best hard tacos ever here recently, a testament to the quality ingredients used. The shells were the best part, very crunchy and lightly textured. The cheese was also high quality. Staff was friendly and in good spirits. This place deserves more business! read more

Had tacos with my 1 year old baby girl last week (who eats everything haha) we enjoyed sitting outside because it was a warm day! One chicken soft taco, one pork taco and an order of chips and Queso. The tacos were good, the pork had a really yummy sauce on top. The queso was cold, but I didn't take it back up because I didn't wanna lug my baby girl back in . Service was pretty good. They had some high chairs and I had to take one outside. On the way back in someone came from behind the counter and helped me out, that was very sweet. Not far from my sons school so nice to stop in and have a bite while picking him up and stuff. I would get the tacos again but probably pass on the queso. read more

Went here for Friday lunch w/Mr Funk. He invited me to join he and his wife as she took a break from counting $ @ TFB. He had clipped several coupons from the Warrenton rag that were offering four tacos @ $4.99 including beverage. I liked the tacos, though small and with low grade ground beef, they are made tasty with fresh lettuce and tomatoes, they have hot and mild sauce and both were fresh and flavorful. The ice tea was a little sweet so next time I'm going half and half. I like the laid back casual vibe here. They have a nice 70 inch HD in the main dining room. along with a cool jukebox. The side dining roomhas a foosball and pool table with a couple of smaller tables. I will look forward to checking this place out this summer and sitting on the outside patio. read more

I'll be honest, this place is one of the worst Mexican places I have ever had. I appreciate that their food is fast and comes hot but it's just so bad. I would honestly prefer Taco Bell if I wanted something inauthentic. The chips we're good, and the queso was so so, therefore I gave an extra star. I genuinely hate giving bad reviews but the burrito I had which was $8 and another $1.25 for cheese was just so fantastically awful. Meh. Food was not really yummy. Taco sauce was funky. I think it was French dressing. Salsa must come out of a jar. The guacamole was the best part of the meal. Nothing had much flavor. This place is great. I had the brisket tacos and they were awesome. I've tried many taco places around Haymarket/Gainesville and this place beat them all. It isn't a fancy extravagant place but it doesn't need to be, the food reminded me of some of my favorite places from my college days in Chicago. In this day and age it's nice to find a place that can give you some semblance or normalcy when you go out for lunch and the staff here did just that. Friendly professional service and obviously a safe and clean environment. This is going to be a place I come back to when I need to get my taco fix. The menu is diverse and well priced. I dont like using the word racist but you can tell there selective with who comes in , The place is disgusting , smells old , carpet is gross , tables are sticky. Wouldn't recommend . Good place to grab a bite. We stopped in for a late lunch and ordered a couple chicken and a couple pulled pork tacos. Plenty of meat on all and very good. The hot sauce is a little sweet and has a little bite but not too hot. Quick service, clean restrooms, a home town place. If in area would stop again. read more

Tippy's serves the worst food I've ever eaten. My wife and I stopped in last night on our way south down US 29. I had the Santa Fe Chicken Dinner; she had a meal with "meat" tacos and "tostadas" (more on those later). My enchiladas were indistinguishable from a mediocre TV dinner. The chicken was dry and rubbery, and the "house-made" enchilada sauce was over-sweet goop from a can. The refried beans clearly came from a can and had been microwaved; they were bone-dry and flavorless, the kind of stuff served at elementary schools. My wife substituted shrimp for "meat" on her tacos, which the cook arbitrarily decided would cost $3 extra. Those premium-priced shrimp were two unseasoned, nuked turds on each taco, served with some lettuce and tomato on a cold taco shell. At the bottom of the basket was a mysterious pool of rank water. Her meal, like many others on the menu, came with "tostadas," which made us think it provided a variety of foods. But no: those tostadas were plain, cold tostada *shells*. That's right: the meal came with a few flat taco shells plucked straight from the box and served in a basket. And they were stale. Why anyone would eat plain taco shells is beyond me. It's the kind of thing only a very small child who'd been abandoned in a pantry would eat. I doubt they serve plain taco shells in prison. On top of all that, Tippy's isn't cheap. We paid $28 altogether for this canned, nuked misery (along with some cold chips and Old El Paso, and bottled drinks). And it was dirty. The carpet looked like a college apartment's, and the tables were sticky. This is a dreadful place to eat. It's an insult to Mexican food, which can be cheap and easy and still good if you make more effort than microwaving canned beans and serving stale taco shells. I'll say again, without any exaggeration, that it's the worst food I've ever eaten. read more
