I live in Manassas and i meet a friend who's down the road so we meet in Warranton, we decided to try El Jaripeo and was pleasantly surprised by their food, the staff is always nice and attentive, and the food portions are excellent. So many places have cut corners because of rising food costs, but El J keep dishing out great food at a great price. This is our new meeting place and we'll keep going back.. Five stars. Excellent. We were here with children and grandchildren: the restaurant is clearly up to the task of dealing with all that such a group entails. The service was great and even cheerful. We appreciated being able to order a small plate of beans and rice for the grands; the children loved their chicken burritos. My husband and i are still arguing which was better: the carnitas or the colorado. I say that they are both absolutely fantastic dishes and he argues that they are incredibly amazing. We both love their refritos and feel sad for the rice. BUT I have been called a rice snob before, so take that with a grain of salt. They even have Modelo Negra on draft -- stinking amazing!! This is my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant in Warrenton. They have the best tasting steak fajitas. I even like their refried beans. The fajitas have always been served to me with the steam coming off of them. I have always received a generous serving of fajitas and I have always had enough for a takeaway box. Carnitas are another great meat to order. Service has always been excellent, even on business nights. If you enjoy a drink or two with your meal, this is the place for you. If you like mangos I suggest you try their mango margarita, If mangos with margarita is not you thing, try a cold Dos Equis and if beer is not for you, just stay with your glass of water or iced tea. El Jaripeo is a nice comfortable place to eat a good nutritious Tex-Mex meal and enjoy a nice cold drink, alcohol or non-alcohol. read more

1) Ordered a top shelf margarita - worst limeade I've ever had. 2) Ordered the cheese enchiladas w/shredded chicken on top. It tasted like what I could imagine cheat cat food would taste like. The cheese enchiladas were just blocks of unidentifiable white cheese wrapped in flour tortillas no seasoning, onions or anything. Shame on ANYONE serving such garbage. read more

I'm from metro NY, I've been fortunate enough to travel quite a bit, and I'm a great cook. That is to say, unfortunately for my wallet and I, that I know good food. Admittedly I am very picky with food, because most of the time I can do it better and for much less money. So when I tell you that this is the absolute best Mexican food I have ever had, I hope you'll believe me. It was very reasonably priced, and I was so impressed with the quality and taste of my dinner. It's in a strip mall, but don't let that deter you. The inside is so cute and the service was on par with what I expect. I went with my dad who is also very hard to impress, and he felt the same as I do about this restaurant. I'm sad it's a 700 mile round trip, but I'm crazy enough to make the trip again just for this food. 10/10. read more

I finally visited the El Jaripeo Mexican Restaurant in Warrenton, VA for dinner on a cool, misty Tuesday evening... I was promptly seated - I opted for a table rather than a booth. My server promptly arrived at my table with a menu and chips and salsa. After looking over the menu - I ordered a small serving of Guacamole (6 oz.), Chorizo Dip, and a Burrito Gordo - with ground beef - which is advertised on their menu as being "spicy." The house salsa is very flavorful. The chips looked like the oil they were fried in needed to be changed - as most of the chips were overly dark in coloration. The Guac and Chorizo Dip came out first - with an additional basket of chips. The Guacamole was fresh - and decent - but it needed more seasoning and spice to it. Same for the Chorizo Dip - I ended up adding a good bit of the hot sauce on the table to the Chorizo Dip. Then the Burrito Gordo came out. Beware - the plates are blazing hot when they deliver to your table. I dug in and was disappointed to find the Burrito was really not that spicy - at least not to my palate. I was disappointed to find the jalapeños in the burrito are of the picked variety - was hoping for fresh jalapeños. Again, I dosed the Burrito with hot sauce to try and amp it up. There's a fellow local Yelper I follow who's been here and really likes it (and since she gave a fav of mine a try a little while ago) I added El Jaripeo to my hit list and finally had the opportunity to try it on a weekday. I met a colleague here for a working lunch. The staff was prompt and friendly with the service. The menu has all the typical Mexican favs. We started with their spicy salsa and guacamole. The spicy sauce was really nice and was loaded with deep redness and hot pepper seeds. I really enjoyed it, especially when combined with the guac! The guac was fresh and tasted amazing! It looked great too! Many Mexican joints pre-make large batches of guac and in order to do that, they usually blend it down with lots of citrus, but this was clearly freshly made and that freshness came through in the flavor and looks. My entrée consisted of chicken fajitas. I got the dinner size and there was enough food there for 2 people! Lots of chicken was left over, which will be lunch the next day. The chicken was flavored nicely and tasted great. I loved the onions and peppers that came with it as well. I'm trying to eat healthy, so I didn't eat the rice or refried beans that came with it, but they looked decent. We have been trying all of the Mexican restaurants in Warrenton and think we found the best. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and taken to our table. The decor is nicely done and everything looked clean. Literally after sitting down, chips and salsa were immediately brought to the table and our waiter took our drink orders. I went with a mojito and my wife got a mango margarita. I have to say that was probably the best mojito I have ever had. We placed our order for a taco salad and tacos al pastor. While waiting for our food, our waiter stopped by several times to check on us. It didn't take too long until our food arrived. Everything tasted so good. El Jaripeo (also know as El Food Lion) is one of my top three favorite Mexican restaurants in Northern Virginia. I have been to this El Jaripeo in Warrenton several times and the food has always been excellent. I have also been to the one in Culpeper and it is also an excellent Mexican restaurant. As for the service in Warrenton, excellent does not describe their service. They never seem to have enough wait-staff in Warrenton. All I need is for only one waiter or waitress to give my table their undivided attention. I had the fajitas and my bride had the Carnitas. We were both very well pleased with the warmth, flavor, and taste of the meat and even the sides. This is one Mexican restaurant you need to try. If possible, avoid the weekend, because of the large crowds. read more

El Jaripeo has become our favorite Mexican restaurant. After driving by it 100s of times we finally decided to cheat on our now second favorite spot. The staff were so friendly to our son and excitedly chatted with him about his Halloween costume. My son also has a particular food order that was getting lost in translation so the server had another staff member assist to ensure the order was correct and we are so thankful for that! After a long morming at the soccer field like 3mins away from this restaurant, my family and I were hungry so we decided to check this restaurant out since it was closed by and it looked good food. But omg as soon we walked in 10 of us , the whole welcoming in the restaurant was so negative unprofessional. Gave us a look like they didn't even want to be there at work and told us we had to wait because they didn't have no table available. Then some of us decided to go to the bar to get a drink in the mean time while we waited and nobody was at the bar and it smelled so bad there! like dirty mop poop and pee etc smh and one server gave us a look and said with a rude voice that someone will be at the bar soon. This has been the most authentic Mexican food I've had since moving to VA. Being from Hispanic decent and living in Southern California all my life, this restaurant's taste is wonderful. My family loved it just as much. It's hard to find good authentic Mexican restaurants by Warrenton, so I am so glad I ran into this place. Staff is super lovely and easy to have conversation with. Very helpful. Food is delicious, I have loved their enchiladas immensely, both red and green taste great, and paired with their rice and beens, its the perfect lunch, dinner, and even breakfast when you crave it. The restaurant's setting, music, and and design represent the culture and gives you the scenery of being in Mexico. I love this place and will keep coming here. :) read more

It was delicious and we had lots of tortillas, chips, sour cream, beans, salsa and guacamole ! EVERYONE including the kids loved it! We've been wanting to try this place out since we saw the coming soon sign! So glad we did. It was fantastic. My fiancé got the enchiladas supremas (one cheese, one beef, one chicken, and one bean) and I got their quesadilla catracha (chicken, bacon, mushrooms). They were both very delicious!
