The chips were thin and crispy and tasty. Shared the chicken and beef fajitas which came with beans and Mexican rice, and guac salsa and sour cream, and tortillas (only three to an order) and it was perfect for two people with some added tortillas. This a really cute place made to look like a Mexican outdoor cafe, complete with an illuminated tree in the dining room. Very pretty wall decorations add to the ambiance. Came in on a Sunday at around 4:30. There was about 8 tables, not super busy at all. Sat for 15 minutes, in 15 minutes no one brought us water or came to take any order. No one even acknowledged us. At some point we literally hear the waiter taking the order of the table behind us, that walked in after us. Again, didn't come to our table to take our order. The food was the best Mexican food that I have had in this area in over 15 years. We have found our new place and I wish I would have found it sooner but we will be back with our family. My wife and have finally made a visit to this wonderful restaurant which we find out has been around for three years. Finding the right Mexican food can be a challenge and we scores with Cinco De Mayo where it is clear from the professional service and quality food we scored big time by coming here tonight. The chicken tortilla soup was flavorful and robost amount of substance with veggies and chicken. Truly one of the best in NOVA and most likely beyond. I had the Masitas Del Peurco which is flavorful blend of onions and chunks of pork with white rice and black beans. Sort of like carnitas but I na class all it's own. Fresh homemade corn tortillas we tried that will lure us back for more and will need to save room for dessert. Plenty of beverage options. Prices are in the right range for the quality and compliments to the chef and staff. Roxanna spent time sharing with us the history of the restaurant and the commitment she and her husband have for quality and service. We will be back and bring some friends along next time. Visited for dinner for the first time this past week. Was seated within 1 minute of arrival. Ordered water with lime, a small side of Guacamole, and a Beef Burrito with ground beef. They first serve you a basket of tortilla chips and salsa. The salsa was tasty - but not hot. The side of Guac was for the chips. The Burrito came out in about 15 minutes. It's served with rice, refried beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, and sour cream. Filling, hearty, and delish! I asked about hot sauce - they brought me house made hot sauce two in small ramekins: the first was a thick green sauce made with Cilantro and Jalapeños - nice heat and flavor; the second sauce was a thinner red sauce - apparently it has 11 different Chile peppers in it. It's much hotter than the green sauce. I drizzled a good bit of the red hot sauce over the rice and refried beans. Made the top of my head sizzle! Service was good! Food was excellent. I got the steak and chicken combo, others got just chicken, seemed to be a bigger portion with the just chicken vs $2 more for steak and a little less food. Got the large house margarita, it was good, but probably not worth $18. Service was good and quick, it wasn't crowded so the noise was down and plenty of space to spread folks out around the restaurant. It's funny we aimed to eat at Foster Grille but saw this Tex-Mex next door and switched on the fly! We were glad we did because the food was so good! I had a good feeling as soon as the chips and salsa came. The chips were fresh and hot and crisp and the salsa takes you right to Mexico! I have never been to this particular Tex-Mex and I was hungrier than I was adventurous so I went for the safe choice of ordering Lomo Saltado - the dish that's familiar to me. The waiter recommended two other top choices (check pics!) The staff was really friendly. The place was decorated like a typical Mexican restaurant - nothing that stood out to me to complain or compliment about. After about 3 bowls of chips, the food came. That took a while but it was the right amount of time to cook fresh meals. No complaints here. The portions are huge! If you don't eat a lot, there's enough for two meals. The taste was authentically Tex-Mex. I'm glad my friend tried Masitas de Puerco al Horno which was equally good! The lemon balances out the rich porky taste so well. The oiled up rice (maybe salted too) just brings it all together. I will definitely come again. Oh, don't forget to order a LARGE Horchata (rice drink) that's not on the menu. Came with a party of 5 on a Saturday night. A casual place with plenty of seating, clean (even the bathrooms); we didn't have to wait long for a table, and were immediately served chips and salsa that everyone liked. I ordered a frozen margarita which was really tasty and balanced. The food was seafood enchiladas, burritos, and tacos, and everyone really enjoyed it. We were on our way home from baseball games and we were hungry, tired and craving Mexican food. Typically Mexican is served super fast and the reviews were really good so we gave it a try. Well. Food was great but holy moly the service was soooooo slow. Took forever to get our order taken and even longer to get it. We were there an hour before our meal was served. Not acceptable. Food was delicious. We tried burritos, tacos, chile rellenos and enchiladas. The enchiladas were the only disappointment as they were very small and the refried beans could have used a little cheese on top but the rice was some of the best I've ever had. Don't get me wrong. One of the frustrating parts of living outside the beltway is that getting to quality restaurants usually requires a drive up I-95. So we were really happy to find this little tex-mex gym in a shopping center in Bristow. The restaurant is really nicely decorated and clean inside. We were greeted by friendly staff, had a very attentive waiter and service help bringing our food and clearing dishes. The menu is what you would expect from a tex-mex place. I personally had beef and chicken enchiladas and beef taco. My wife had chicken fajitas and the kids had enormous burritos. Everyone was very pleased with their food. I would say it was above average compared to other restaurants of this size. I would also say if you asked me to choose tonight between coming here or to our local Uncle Julio's, I would probably choose Cinco de Mayo. I had a very good margarita, chose the smaller size option. (It was pretty large so I'm curious what the larger size looks like!) We had tasty queso and salsa to start, our server happily refilled the chip bowl. My wife's fajitas looked and smelled delicious. And I know this is kind of basic, but my taco was the favorite item on my plate. I found the price for our meal to be very reasonable. So look, I'll be honest for comparison's sake, I just ate a really high end, super delicious tex-mex place in Richmond last weekend. Cinco de Mayo is not that level. But I'm giving it five stars for the wonderful, friendly service, above average food and being a very nice local dining option in an area where those can be kind of difficult to find. read more

Great location, just off 28 in Bristow. You can enter off Linton Hall Rd or Fitzgerald Way. When I walked in, I heard music playing and saw smiley employees. I was seated right away by a rather charming server. He was very attentive. Place was clean and food was good. -I ordered Plantanos Fritos, which were so sweet and soft. A lot of good flavor. I liked the nachos. Fresh guacamole. The coke tasted good and fresh as well. I ordered a Togo fish tacos when I ordered my nachos. I never had to remind him. Christian was able to hook us up with some margaritas and we were able to watch a soccer game here while we enjoyed our authentic salvadorean food with a hint of Tex mex. But it was the real deal food was deliciously fresh and well seasoned.Definitely the best quesadilla we have ever had, I ordered a big platter of different meats and it was some of the best Spanish food my brother and I have had in this area. I have eaten a few times now and decided to give the Lomo Saltado a try as it's a dish that many places have their take on the seasoning and spices for it. The meal was good but not great but the presentation looked great, the only thing for with it was really the seasoning as it wasn't spicy enough for me. When I say spicy I am not talking like burn you mouth and start sweating spicy but just enough heat the blends everything together well. I also must mention the Calamari that I ordered as an appetizer, it was good and definitely worth ordering again. The chips and salsa are great, thin and crispy chips and the salsa has some heat to it. I have also eaten the tacos and enchiladas here and was pleased with the flavor. We've come here with about 12 people a couple times and they have been great to accommodate large groups. The atmosphere is unique. There is great Mexican decor and music. After hearing recommendations and reading reviews, we decided to give Cinco de Mayo a try. The good news is that the place is bright and clean, and the service was excellent. The bad news is mediocre food and drinks. The margaritas were overpriced and under-poured, making for an expensive glass of maggie mix. The salsa was flavorful but lacked any spiciness. (Adding the green "spicy" sauce to the salsa helped, but it was still just mediocre.) The actual meals were. Flavorful and appropriately portioned, but once again they lacked the kick of true Tex-Mex cuisine. (I don't like my food super spicy or anything, but our meals borderline on bland.) And the beans? Something was very wrong, because they were a thin gray slurry rather than beans with texture. Of course, considering all the other great reviews, it's possible we just visited on an "off night." Maybe the bartender forgot the tequila? Maybe the chef forgot the spices? Or perhaps it's just a subjective thing... a "matter of taste." Admittedly, we lived in the Southwest, and we've spent a lot of time in Texas, so perhaps we expected something more authentic and familiar. Your miles may vary. Would we go back? Probably not. There are better competitors in the area with more authentic and bold flavors (and significantly better margaritas). read more

We ate here for the first time tonight. Restaurant is very clean and service was excellent. They serve you chips & salsa to start. They were very good. They should have brought waters to start but didn't. We had to ask for it. My husband had the steak fajitas, and I had the chicken fajitas. Both dishes were delicious. Our server was always checking in on us and very nice. We ordered flan to go as were too full from eating our dinner. The flan was very tasty. It was creamy, and had good flavor.
