Went in on a Saturday and the place was packed... with only men. No one greeted us and I honestly couldn't even tell who worked there. We just got weird blank stares. It was almost completely silent inside, minus a few conversations at tables here and there, which added to the awkward ambiance. It was just weird and uncomfortable. I was out running errands on a Wednesday night and was in the mood for a good cheesesteak. Decided to pull out my phone. and instead of using Yelp, I actually just punched cheesesteak into Waze, and what do you know?! I ended up finding the cheesesteak joint. This is actually a food truck, which is parked on the side of the Tipsy Catcus, which is a really cool brewery I also checked out while I was waiting for my order. This is a really chill brewery, and not a huge spot. Maybe 8 to 10 high top tables with bar seating, and a mostly open floor plan. They have a small patio too, with what looks like about another tables but because I visited at night, nobody was outside. They also seem to be extremely dog friendly as they had one table with a really chill cocker spaniel completely laid out on his side in the middle of the floor. I'm not sure how many taps they had in total, but definitely more than 40 I would say. I'm not a big beer drinker, so I ordered a cider. The cider I was served was on tap and really tasty. And it definitely hit the spot of terms of price point. One thing to note, while I was talking to the owner/manager of the tipsy cactus (shout to him because he was really cool), he told me that Friday night and Saturday nights are usually popping so I wouldn't expect to be first in line on any of those nights. It also looks like they rotate food trucks on different nights, so don't assume that the cheesesteak truck is going to be here every night. I would check the tipsy cactus website, or Instagram page to be sure. I'll definitely be looking forward to checking this place out again in the future, especially if I'm hitting one of the food trucks parked outside. read more

We're big beer fans, and my significant other surprised me with dinner at Wilderness followed by a visit to Tipsy Cactus. I'm so glad we went! From the moment we walked in, it felt like we were hanging out with friends. The vibe was relaxed and welcoming, with beer-themed decor lining the walls and a lively group of people enjoying the soccer game on TV. We grabbed a high-top near the beer fridge and were checking out the menu online when Saad, who was working behind the bar, came over to introduce himself and welcome us in. His energy was awesome - super friendly and easygoing - and he made us feel right at home. He checked in to see if we had any questions, which was a nice touch. We tried a bunch of different beers, both from the taps and the cooler, and honestly loved them all. You can tell they're really passionate about craft beer here. 3.5 Stars It was a busy night at Tipsy Cactus for The Brit Invasion Fish and Chips night featuring Samuel Smith Brewing for AZ Beer Week. I love AZ Beer Week and take time off from work every year since it started to go to the events. This was my first Beer Week event at Tipsy cactus and my first food truck at Tipsy Cactus since I started coming a year ago. Gabe's staff were clearly unprepared with only one hot oil pot for a bar full of patrons. 15 minute wait, then another 10 minute wait, $15.00, and the fish was tasteless. Great batter, fresh oil, and very good chips. Get a new food truck provider. The fish was that bad. A waste of money and I even asked a patron who said it was good. The Samuel Smoth organic beers were well worth the trip. I had all of them. Tipsy Cactus has standard Chandler area bar ambiance. Nothing special, but nice. Great bar staff. Tipsy Cactus = Me after a couple of drinks. Wee! We stopped in after dinner one Saturday evening and it was a packed house. Tipsy Cactus was absolutely bouncing off the walls! The bartender is friendly. I wasn't sure what I wanted so he recommended that I get the Cider Corps Whiskey Charlie. He even let me taste it first. As a fan of Cider Corps already, I was impressed by their maple bourbon barrel aged black cherry cider. It was just slightly tart. We also got to try the Santa's Little Helper which reminded everyone of a Guinness. This place also has their own house Tipsy brews which is highly recommended. Tipsy Cactus is totally cute. The stools at the bar are a bit uncomfortable but that's because I'm an old lady with back problems but that won't stop me from coming back. They also have purse hooks under the bar. I like it! We have been frequenting since discovering this "bottle shop" a few months ago. I say bottle shop in quotes because I've been to many across the country and this has the smallest bottle selection of them all. It's not really a bottle shop, but a bar with some bottles available - no problems here, just surprising given the name. Today I discovered the new dog policy, aka no dogs allowed. So for me, Tipsy no longer has anything special to offer, they are just another "bottle shop" for which I give a 3 star review for average venue with a good beer selection. I deduct another star for the pricing. The least expensive pints on the board at $6.75 which comes to $5.50 at happy hour with tax. Keep in mind this is a commercial strip mall location next to well, strip mall type businesses. Contrast this this to say buying a pint straight from the brewery in downtown Tempe at happy hour for $3? Not happy with that $3 venue? No problem, pay $3.50 at 3 others within walking distance. My point is, the premium price isn't worth it unless you have something special to offer. You no longer have anything special to offer, including the happy hour pricing. read more

Sampling is not frowned upon for those with fear of commitment. Bring your own food from one of the places in the shopping mall or on weekends they have a food truck to offset the delicious beers. Dogs are okay because it's a tap house but make sure they are chill. Come on in and you will return to have another pint or ten. Their H2o is second to none! Atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. He was SO charismatic and outgoing and really made the night one of the best experiences. I came back in this week and luckily he was there again. Was excited to discover this place. It's nice to grab a brew in this heat sometimes, right? And a bona fide taproom at that. Well, there's this thing called service. Recently, around the third time I went in, it was somebody new running it. Fine, no problem. So I walk into a bar. It's locked, so it happened differently, ok. Eventually she came over and let me pass. I checked my watch, and it was quarter past the hour, ok. It's officially open. I am grateful. Also, I am clear as to why there is no one in the place yet. Playing shithouse 80's pop, really uncomfortable, but ok. It's early? On her own initiative, she turned off the TouchTunes, requiring 30 minutes to re-boot. She apologized for the brainfart. It came back faster than expected, maybe 15 minutes, so ok. I could only stay for an hour, but... After it fires up, 'I Would Walk 500 Miles' came on, probably the second song. I remark that it is nice the season is turning and we can walk again, cuz it's cooler, and then the song just cuts off, right smack in the middle. I ask what happened? She says she didn't want that song in her head the rest of her shift. I guess the TouchTunes is just for her? I say thank you, not really meaning it. Not OK. In a bar, there's three things -- service, drinks and music. And it's not a two out of three game. Come on man. read more
