So, let me start off by saying that I am a pretty easy customer to please. I can definitely understand most things, but this was UNACCEPTABLE! Firstly, I drove 25 MINUTES on a Friday to get this food! When I get there, I ask for my order, and one of the girls tells me that she has to cancel my order because they didn't have ribs anymore. Secondly, I look at my email and she said she put in for the cancellation half an hour prior) but I looked at my home and she actually put the cancellation in 8 minutes prior (so that was a lie) and she refunded me about $20 of the entire $26 order. My family lives about 5 mins away, and we pass by all the time, so we finally decided to give this place a try. The meat did not disappoint! I had the ribs, which were absolutely delicious and definitely give Fox Bros some healthy competition, in my opinion. Loved the vinegary bbq sauce. I tried the half slab of ribs chased by 3 wings. I also did baked beans and green beans. Let's start with the sides. The green beans were not worth it either by flavor or by value. The baked beans I found to be unique as they were a bit sweet and had a strong tone of onion. I gladly could have taken on a larger portion of the baked beans. The wings were moist. Great flavor picked up from the smoke. I wasn't too keen on the texture of the skin. This falls to the category of it is what it is. I don't fault the establishment. I'm thinking next visit I'll try the half or whole chicken. The ribs. I found them dryer than I would like. I liked the Smokey flavor but not the sauce. The pulled pork is really great and the portion sizes are excellent. They have a variety of BBQ sauces which is what makes the meal. I finally tried this place out today. I got the Memphis style pulled pork sandwich and the smoked wings. I got both with the sweet hot bbq sauce. The sandwich would have been enough. It had lots of tender smoky pulled pork and a generous portion of coleslaw on top. It was completely delicious. I am beyond spoiled with having grown up with my dad competing professionally in the Georgia Barbecue Association. This means I have been eating competition BBQ my entire life. I know good BBQ. I really wanted to like this restaurant but the food was subpar. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with fries. The meat was bland however, the Carolina sauce did add some flavor. My "beef" was the cold bun and my fries were extremely undercooked. I brought my meal home and finished cooking the fries in my air fryer. I believe this restaurant could be better with some tweaking. For example, they have a deep fryer so there is no excuse for presenting "blonde" fries. They should be golden in color, seasoned, hot, and crunchy. The buns should be either toasted or heated in my opinion. The young lady who took my order was friendly. This place is conveniently located inside a Shell gas station convenience store. Upon entering you can smell the aroma of goodness. The food smells so good that if you were just coming in for a snack from the Shell side you'd be more than tempted to try something! The bbq smells out of this world! This was a highly anticipated BBQ joint that I've been wanting to try. A featured restaurant in a list of the most unassuming restaurants in Atlanta - I mean, a restaurant attached to a Shell gas station - I knew I had to try it. And so did 10 other of my friends. So I would be surprised, too, if I suddenly saw a large group of hungry Asians storm a Shell gas station in the middle of Lilburn, GA. It's not something you would see everyday. When we approached the counter, a server was so shocked, he called for the manager, who helped us with samples and getting our orders in, and even offered us some samples of the Brunswick Stew. Once you place your order, you pay at the gas station register and bring the paid receipt back to the barbecue counter. This is in order for the Tipsy BBQ to receive their profits from Shell, so don't just toss your receipt after paying! I ordered the rib plate, with two specialty sides of the Brunswick Stew and the Mac and Cheese. There was a 15 minute wait on the ribs since they didn't expect so many people at one time, so if possible do call ahead to avoid the wait. The ribs were worth the wait! Tender and juicy with some great smokey flavor, although some at the table noted they were not as smokey as they would have liked. The pulled pork was a little dry, but had some good flavor. The Brunswick stew was beautiful, but the mac and cheese not so much. It was sitting in greasiness and were cold. Avoid the Mac and cheese. Overall, it was a satisfying meal and a unique experience. Sure, it was weird eating at a table with motor oil right behind us, but the service was great with the attentive staff constantly coming back with water refills (sure, in styrofoam cups, but I wasn't picky).
