Mr. Lee advised me on the necessary quantities to order, which was exactly what we needed. Sundays we brunch but not this Sunday! Today I wanted BBQ and for some reason the main places I would normally go to are closed on Sundays I found this hidden gem on google and I'm so glad I tried them. Tipsy Pig is located inside a gas station but don't let that discourage you. The food is not like you would expect from a gas station. They actually has a sitting area, TV and a seat down and order bar counter top so you can see your food being prepared. It was very clean and organized. I ordered the Rib plate which comes with 2 sides $14.00 and the Wing plate which comes with 1 side $9.50. The ribs were cooked perfectly and so flavorful that you don't need any sauce. I ordered the following sides, potato salad, baked beans, Mac and cheese and peach cobbler. The sides were ok much like you would expect from a local bbq joint. The Arnold Palmer was really good also The customer service was amazing and very personable. Steve greeted me with a warm smile and was more than happy to spend 20 mins talking to me about the history on the business. This place is conveniently located inside a Shell gas station convenience store. Upon entering you can smell the aroma of goodness. The food smells so good that if you were just coming in for a snack from the Shell side you'd be more than tempted to try something! The bbq smells out of this world! I had this place bookmarked, so my boyfriend and I decided to come here and give them a try since they were close to the house. If I weren't a yelper, I could honestly say that if I saw this place in the gas station I probably wouldn't have tried it nor came inside but since I saw this place on Yelp I already knew I was in for some delicious bbq. This experience was awesome. The guy who waited on us was such a kindred spirit, he made the experience from a 4 to a 5. He kept a smile on his face and made sure we didn't want for anything. We ordered a slab of ribs, macaroni and cheese, greens and since I just had to try the wings I got some of the smoked wings as well! Everything was great. Normally, I like my macaroni and cheese with more cheese and I'm not sure if it was because I was extra hungry but it was good. The ribs were just as good as the pictures you see when you scroll through here, too. Collard greens were tasty as well. Now, these wings, I cannot believe how I felt about these wings. This was a highly anticipated BBQ joint that I've been wanting to try. A featured restaurant in a list of the most unassuming restaurants in Atlanta - I mean, a restaurant attached to a Shell gas station - I knew I had to try it. And so did 10 other of my friends. So I would be surprised, too, if I suddenly saw a large group of hungry Asians storm a Shell gas station in the middle of Lilburn, GA. It's not something you would see everyday. When we approached the counter, a server was so shocked, he called for the manager, who helped us with samples and getting our orders in, and even offered us some samples of the Brunswick Stew. Once you place your order, you pay at the gas station register and bring the paid receipt back to the barbecue counter. This is in order for the Tipsy BBQ to receive their profits from Shell, so don't just toss your receipt after paying! I ordered the rib plate, with two specialty sides of the Brunswick Stew and the Mac and Cheese. There was a 15 minute wait on the ribs since they didn't expect so many people at one time, so if possible do call ahead to avoid the wait. The ribs were worth the wait! Tender and juicy with some great smokey flavor, although some at the table noted they were not as smokey as they would have liked. The pulled pork was a little dry, but had some good flavor. The Brunswick stew was beautiful, but the mac and cheese not so much. It was sitting in greasiness and were cold. Avoid the Mac and cheese. Overall, it was a satisfying meal and a unique experience. Sure, it was weird eating at a table with motor oil right behind us, but the service was great with the attentive staff constantly coming back with water refills (sure, in styrofoam cups, but I wasn't picky). Food The food was not noteworthy. We ordered the brisket platter, along with a pulled pork sandwich. We ordered the mac and cheese and baked beans sides. Nothing tasted seasoned and nothing makes me want to return to this restaurant. The baked beans were supposed to have bacon in them and they didn't. 2. Service I feel like ordering BBQ should be a pretty fast and straightforward process since all the meats are already cooked. The staff was disorganized and kept prioritizing DoorDash orders over the orders of the customers waiting in the gas station. I had to ask twice for styrofoam cups for water. We were planning on taking our meal to a nearby park to eat it since seating is so limited at the restaurant. When we got there, we realized they hadn't provided forks so we couldn't eat the sides. We decided to pack it up and drive home 20 minutes. Overall, service was disorganized, inefficient, and incomplete. 3. Value This food is not a good value. The quantity of meat provided was pretty pitiful compared to Heirloom or Fox Bros. Sides were similarly small, which always boggles my mind. Mac and cheese is cheap to make and it doesn't make sense to me when BBQ joints will only give 1/2 cup or some other scant portion. Went to this BBQ place I order Ribs the ribs were delicious I also ordered the Mac n cheese and collard greens the food was very tasty the manager was very nice to. The bbq sauce was cold I asked the manager why and he said that the Health Department said that the sauce had to be refrigerated, it didn't make sense to have warm food and cold sauce. If you venture outside of the Atlanta area, way outside, then you realize that it is not abnormal for a gas station to have a BBQ joint. Or a produce stand that sells boiled peanuts. It seems to be a novelty here, however. The store says they open at 11 am, but I say don't come before 1:30 or 2:00 pm. They don't have all their meat ready at 11, ribs in particular are ~1:30. So if you want ribs, think very late lunch or dinner. Don't wear your nice clothes either unless you just want them to smell like BBQ for the rest of the day. I ordered the 2 meat combo with pulled pork and chicken, baked beans, fries and brunswick stew. Your typical dressed up pork-n-beans from a can and the usual frozen fries. The brunswick stew was not what I'm used to, but others may like it. It was more vinegary and less "tomatoey" and sweet than I prefer. I love me some BBQ and I know my stuff too. I loved their chicken so much that actually ate the skin too. That's something I NEVER do. The spice rub and smoke was incredibly good. I had the collard greens and it was not bad but I had better. ( my own lol) Then I had their Brisket but I am going to be honest i should not judge it at all just to be fair. It was at the end of the day and what I got had been sitting around for some time. So it was not up to my standards but I will try again in a earlier day for sure. The people behind the counter are very helpful and so sweet and nice. Now it is inside a gas station but it is worth going out of your way to try it. They have a website where you can order from as well. What I really liked is that they wait till you get there to fry the fry's. I think that's considered of them. So you get fresh food. My first review of 2021! This place was great! I love the convince of it being in the gas station. Pull up get your gas get your food. This not convenience store made food, it's just at a convenient stop and go for some good food currency the hot spitta loves this place I am told by the owners son! They have a picture of him and wiz khalifa visiting and frequently visiting. I don't know if they are foodies or not but the clout is cool lol. I, however, am; and I give this place a solid 5 stars. The wings(sorry I didn't picture, I dug in!) and be fries were both cooked perfectly. The wings are smoked and then flash friend. The 3 wings are big and a side of fries is an additional $1. I finally tried this spot out after driving past it for over a decade. The service was awesome. The menu is quite simple. I opted with 4 rib bones, Carolina sauce and the sweet heat sauce that is the most popular. The plate comes with 2 slices of bread for a total of $10.60, tax included. The plate was hefty! This can definitely feed two people. Im very picky with my ribs as I come from a family who is SERIOUS about barbecue. I'll start with saying that the texture was spot on. There was a candy like stickiness that the smoke pulled from the fat which was my favorite. An honorable mention is the fat to meat ratio which is really good. It doesn't feel like too much of either which complements the cut and overall eatability. That being said, I missed flavor. The smoke didn't have the assistance of seasoning which is necessary! Therefore, the main flavor profile of the rib is smoke. The sauces were my least favorite. The sweet heat wasn't enough to compensate the absent spice and the Carolina vinegar, although it cut through the fat, tasted mostly of vinegar and too lacked flavor. Considering the lack of salt, that didn't taste too great in my book. Still, This was a good experience and I'm glad I finally tried out this local eatery! read more

After hiking Stone Mountain today, I wanted to stop by and grab some food. Unfortunately, a lot of places were closed on Sunday!! Oh well. Tipsy Pig to the rescue. It is located right next door to a gas station but shares the insides with the gas station. Half of the gas station is dedicated to bbq customers. There are a few tables but they were all occupied with hungry customers ripping up the food. You order at the bbq side and get a receipt to pay at the gas station side. Then you return back showing that you paid. If you want a receipt for what you paid for, you have to request it. Otherwise, sorry, no receipt. I ordered the family pack #1 that feeds 3-4 people, 1 1/4 lbs of pork, 4 buns, & 2 pint size choices of sides. I decided on fries and mac & cheese ($1.50 extra). The fries filled in a huge to-go container. Since I love me some chicken, I ordered smoked wings. The two sauces I chose were regular and spicy. I took it all to go. I opened the fries container and looked inside, it's edible but sooooo dry! They were over fried. But I still kept eating them. I do not know why I thought I got ribs. For some reason, I thought that. The pork meat was pulled and wrapped in parchment paper. The flavor of the meats were nothing to rave about. The sauce was great though. I liked it but I do hate when you rely on the sauce for bbq. I feel the meats should be smoked with some yumminess and the sauce be the supporting star, not the main star. So the smoked wings were 3 whole wings. They were so dry. Without the sauce, it would not even be good. Overall, disappointed. I wonder if I got the ribs that it would make a difference.
