Responsiveness - 5 stars. Jonathon always picked up the phone when I called. They were able to start the job after a few days. (I never want someone who can work in one day, it means they're not busy enough for others to hire). Knowledge - this is the reason I hired tree top. I had eucalyptus trees butchered previously and wanted to avoid that entirely. Jonathon knew what needed to be done and executed. He was in the trees like a monkey thinning out 6 medium/large trees. Cleanliness - 3 stars. Not that the guys weren't clean, but more like the job site. I had to do a lot more clean up than I would like. I didn't let this affect my overall review score too much because we had Santa Ana winds come through the last couple of days, so I can't pin the whole mess left behind on Tree Top. I notice my neighbors yard seem a little extra messy too. It would've been nice to spend a little more time cleaning the spillover. Again winds could have contributed over last couple of days but I have no baseline. Price - 2 stars. Tree top was the most expensive quote. But you have to pay to have things done right. I negotiated the price down a little and then the price went back up after looking at the job closer. Jonathon was willing to negotiate a little, but this is the only reason he lost 5 stars. Update- next day. Trees still look good but my sprinkler pipes were shattered in 3 places. It's actually pretty egregious. A cap on my retaining wall was also broken. Trees still look nice, but the attention to detail outside of the trees was poor. They lost another star for that. read more

I had a dead tree that I wanted removed along with its stump. I called a number of removal services and discarded those who said they will grind not remove the stump. Tiptop said he's remove the stump for $300. I expressed that I wanted the stump removed as I was planning on re-planting a new tree. Tiptop removed what he said was the stump and I gave the guy pictures of three possible new tree options. I asked if he could re-plant a new tree and he said he could. After many unreturned calls and messages, I elected to go with someone else to plant a new tree. When the new guys came out with the new tree, I learned that Tiptop had not removed the stump as he said he did and I paid him to do. In fact the guys planting my new tree showed me the stump. Tiptop had simply grinned it down and told me the stump was removed. I now know why they didn't return my calls to re-plant a new tree! Very uncool! read more

THIS IS BASED ENTIRELY ON MY EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH JONATHAN. I am not going to comment on other people's reviews and their experience. His work for me speaks for himself, in my case I can provide samples of his work and you be the judge. Initial response was good but now Jonathan never answers my phone calls and texts. His report was declined by city twice. OMG, compare his site map and tree pictures with professional arborist, it's as simple as day and night. Even after paying him $1800.00 upfront in the form of check to do all work, I ended by taking trees pics and fixing the site plan, which was accepted by city after declining this guys unprofessional work twice. Also, when city asked Jonathan to provide his arborist number, he gave FAKE number which was not in international arborist society database. All my experience, his fake ID's, his unprofessional work is well documented in emails and texts. Everything will be submitted to court and International Arborist Society for further investigation. read more
