My first time here I had a great chat with Joe and every time I visited since he remembered where I was from and asked how our other vehicle was. His son, Adam, was equally friendly and ran the shop really efficiently always taking the time to explain diagnosis, recommendations and show us parts that were replaced. Now, there is a gentlemen running the front desk called Augustine and all this has changed. Our vehicle was back in the shop for an on-going check engine light related to a leak in the evap system, Augustine called me to tell me they had diagnosed 3 separate sensors that were all faulty and needed replacing. 2 of these had already been replaced by this shop last year when this engine code first started. When I asked him to explain the 3rd sensor to me he was either unwilling to or unable to, I asked because it sounded very similar in name to one of the others and wanted to verify which one had already been replaced. I ended up having the other 2 replaced under warranty and plan to find another shop for our repair needs now. Additionally, when Augustine called me to let me know my vehicle was ready I asked what time they closed. He told me 4:30pm (despite their advertised hours saying 5:00pm). I left work early to drive my wife to the shop to collect the car, arriving at 4:25pm only for the shop to be locked up and no one there. When I asked Augustine about this the following say he said he thought I would probably be coming the following day and "it was getting late". I asked if it would be possible to speak with Adam and he told me that Adam doesn't work there anymore. I asked whether the shop had changed hands and he insisted that Joe is still in charge, although when I asked when it would be possible to talk to Joe I was told that he wasn't available and he just "randomly drops in". I'm sorry to see the customer service and professionalism decline at this shop but having older vehicles, we have to trust that the the mechanics working on our vehicles and the shops we take them to are giving us all the information and the correct information. I hate having to write this review, but I feel I have no choice…read more I've been bringing my vehicles to Joe's Auto for years. I've trusted them with my family's cars, my previous vehicle, and most recently my Nissan. When my check engine light came on, there was no question where I would take it. After diagnosing the vehicle, I received a call from one of the newer staff members informing me that I needed a spark plug kit and a fuel injector, with an estimated cost of around $1,200. I declined the fuel injector repair, yet still paid over $1,100 for the work that was completed. Unfortunately, about a week later, the check engine light came back on. I brought the vehicle back, but I never received a clear explanation as to why the light had returned. I left believing the issue had been resolved. Then, on June 17, the check engine light came on again. I immediately called Joe's Auto. Instead of asking me to bring the vehicle in right away, I was told to bring it in the following day. After spending over $1,100 on repairs that apparently did not fix the problem, I expected a greater sense of urgency and concern. Because I no longer felt confident that the issue was being taken seriously, I took my vehicle to the dealership and paid additional money to have the problem addressed. I called Joe's Auto to let them know what had happened, but the response was disappointing. The only explanation I received was that the parts were under warranty and that I should have brought the vehicle back in. I understand that parts can be under warranty, but after multiple visits and the same problem continuing to occur, I expected some level of accountability, concern, or even an offer to work with me toward a resolution. Instead, I felt dismissed. I've been a loyal customer for years, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Unfortunately, based on how this situation was handled, I will not be returning.

I already knew my car needed work, so I wasn't surprised when the service rep told me there were several issues. What concerned me was how everything was handled afterward. He told me the repairs would cost approximately $3,700 if we did it the "cheap way" and over $5,100 if we did it the "right way." He repeatedly talked about discounts he could give me, told me I was lucky he was helping me because he could give me so many discounts, and mentioned having sisters and understanding how hard things can be. I told him I wanted to speak with my brother-in-law before agreeing to thousands of dollars in repairs. He said that was fine and even offered to speak with him himself. After calling my brother-in-law, I went back inside and asked for a printout of the inspection results and an itemized estimate showing what the $5,100+ actually covered. I've received detailed written estimates from American Tire Depot before, so I didn't think this was an unusual request. While I was waiting in line, the service rep approached me and asked if I wanted to "go for a walk." I was confused but followed him outside, assuming he wanted to show me something on my car. Instead, he continued encouraging me to get the repairs done and asked what my budget was. He said even if I only had around $2,500, he could "make it work" and handle what he could. I again explained that I wanted to review everything with my brother-in-law first and asked for the results and estimate in writing. His demeanor then changed. He told me he couldn't give me a printout because the notes were handwritten. I said I'd take whatever paperwork he could provide. Instead, he told the employee working on my car to put it back together and pull it out, then walked back inside without further addressing me. The only paperwork left in my car was a receipt showing the inspection at $0.00. There were no inspection findings, repair recommendations, or itemized estimate for the $3,700-$5,100+ in work we'd just discussed. The entire interaction didn't sit right with me. Around 6:30 PM that evening, the service rep called to follow up about the repairs and told me his work schedule so I could bring the car back while he was there. I again asked for something in writing showing exactly what I was being asked to pay for. Again, I didn't receive it. Instead, he offered to verbally list the issues while I took notes. I'm not a mechanic, so I was scrambling to write everything down and understand it. If someone is asking me to authorize over $5,000 in repairs, I don't think it's unreasonable to want an itemized written estimate first. The next morning, 8/5, he called again asking when I was coming in. At that point, I told him I was taking my car somewhere else. He asked if it was because of the price and again said he could work with my budget. The money wasn't the issue. If my car genuinely needed $5,000 in repairs, I was prepared to pay for necessary work. My issue was being asked to spend thousands while repeatedly being denied documentation showing exactly what I was paying for. When I explained this, he claimed he had offered to write everything down for me if I wanted it that badly. That was not my experience and was never offered during my visit. He then said I could drive back to the shop and he would write it out for me. By then, I was done. I took my car to another mechanic for a second opinion. They performed a thorough inspection and sent me a digital report with the findings, recommendations, and actual photos/videos of my car showing the problems. They even identified additional issues American Tire Depot hadn't mentioned. I authorized the repairs with the other shop and ultimately paid approximately $4,000 for more work than what I had been discussing with American Tire Depot. That's why I want to emphasize: this was never about avoiding the cost of repairs. It was about transparency. If you're asking a customer to authorize $3,700-$5,100+ in work, they should be able to see in writing what was found and what they're paying for before handing over thousands of dollars. I especially encourage women and anyone who isn't knowledgeable about cars to ask questions, request everything in writing, and get a second opinion before authorizing major repairs. The saddest part is that I had been a loyal American Tire Depot customer for years and regularly purchased my tires here. After this experience, I won't be returning.

He says ok $70, I rebuttal come on $60. He says nope these are name brands, and he says the owner is gonna be here soon and he's gonna charge you $75. I still say $60 and he refuses so I give in and that's that. Mind you, at the time I didn't think about it but he took me into the tire shed where it was dark and couldn't really see the tires that good. Well, he puts the tire on and he's working super fast and feverishly and he keeps looking at me and I'm thinking what's with this guy? So, while I'm waiting I look at my other tire and it needs changing as well so I say, you know what just put the other Bridgestone on which he does and I'm thinking damn I'm getting a deal! Wrong! I text my uncle (mechanic) the Bridgestone tire deal and he says take a closer pic of the tire thread and luckily I did. He said return them you're getting Jacked! I'm like what???? He says those tires have dry rot and are gonna cause you a pop. Return them now!!!!! Coincidentally, guess who happens to pull up, the owner! So, I go back to the shed where they're both @ and I say hey come check out the tires. So taking initiative the owner comes with me I ask, What's this? He rubs the tire and makes a B-line to the shed and 5 minutes later emerges with 2 other Bridgestone tires and I'm like wtf? Why didn't the guy show me these before? The owners says I don't know? I take a look at them and take a pic to send to my uncle and my uncle says yes these ones are better, take em! I let the owner know and he's like perfecto! It's gonna be $75 each and I'm like huh? He reiterates, yea $75 I said I was charged $65 for those 2 and both are used and he says these are better with a gleam in his face like he just won something. I said forget this, take both of them off,I'm done with these games, I'm out!!!! He said fine I'm going to charge you $20 per tire to get off I said what???? That's ridiculous!!! He said yep we worked to them on and that's why I charge to take them off. I said I'm not paying you a cent. He says fine then you're paying me for those tires, I said no I'm not! I said that's ok I'll take them off myself and I walk away. He stops me and says look these tires are better. Look at them! Takes them out of the dark shed and makes me see them. I paid $65 for a used tire I feel like it could've been a little cheaper, but I was in a tight situation and needed something fast, so I didn't negotiate. Overall, great experience.
