Do not go here, I went here because I was hearing strange noises from my car and I was worried about it. I made and appointment, went in and they did a safety check. They got done with the check and told me my head gasket was blown. We called my hometown mechanic and he called bs on it, if my head gasket had been blown my car would've overheated, had a lot of smoke and coolant in the oil (which they said I had) I took it to another place to get a second opinion they told me there was nothing in my oil I just needed a new air filter. This place acts like people aren't going to get a second opinion, I'm 19 and go to Mansfield, I know I'm not the only one who got taken advantage of here. I got my car checked there about almost a week ago and my car is running perfectly no signs of a blown head gasket. Do not go here trust me. read more

Here in town visiting family. I called for an oil change asked them on the phone if they had an oil filter for a Volvo, they said yes. Arrived dropped off car, came back 30 mins later. They said they were delayed because they had to go to Autozone to get an oil filter. Car finally got done. 135+ dollars for a synthetic oil change!!! Holy cow, what kind of oil are they using? 17 plus dollars a quart, I pay 87 dollars at home for an oil change. Not overly impressed. read more

Need a simple state inspection done. Call a week ahead, they can do inspections we set up time. I get there, they tell me "whoops we actually can't do your inspection because you're from a different county that requires emissions and we don't do emissions." Hands down worst experience I've ever had was at this shop. My girlfriend took her Jeep Liberty to this "shop" and was told she needed to replace her engine after breaking down in the Dunkin' Donuts parking lot across the street. When I got off work I looked at it and it needed a 12$ valve spring. How does a 12$ part translate into a 2,500$ engine? Do these people know what they are doing? I was more than impressed with the customer service that we received. We were on our way home to Ontario after a long trip and a flat tire left us stranded in Mansfield. Having an odd sized Tire meant that a new one had to be ordered-it arrived the next day earlier than expected and Chad had us up and running in no time. Meanwhile, Chad helped us book a hotel, drove us to our hotel and personally picked us up the next day! I've gone here since I went to college in Mansfield, and I don't know if it got worse or if I just wasn't paying attention before. I was told by their location in Williamsport that I needed a new fuel pump, but held off until it got worse. When I took it to this location they quoted me for $400 higher than the Williamsport one. I mentioned it and they said Williamsport "must be doing it under the table." It doesn't matter to me how they're doing it, if they're doing it cheaper. I sat around waiting until they ultimately told me they needed a new part and wouldn't have it until tomorrow, so I had to try to get my car started, get it home and bring it back the next day. When I did, they kept me waiting some more because it turned out they ordered the part for the wrong year and had to get a different one. At one point they came in and asked me how many cylinders my car had. What kind of mechanic has to ask the customer that? As I waited, more customers came and went, each getting told something like "I'm not gonna charge you for the labor" or "When I saw it was you, I made sure to get it in right away." I wasn't so lucky and got no discount whatsoever for the extra hassle. I gave them my parting gift of the new charge (which was $100 over yesterday's quote) and left, never to return. When I left I found that my back seat, which I had put stuff on previously, had been removed and thrown back on halfway, and my check engine light was still on. If you have any other option to take your car on a weekend, stay far away from here. read more

they accept too many appointments than they can keep up with in a reasonable amount of time and walk ins seem to take priority over customers who made appointments. If you are the poor soul who brings your car in for unknown mechanical trouble expect it to be diagnosed with the worst case scenario problem requiring a super expensive repair job or else your car won't pass future inspection and/or you may die withing minutes of leaving their shop if it's not taken care of there and then. A routine oil change that should take maybe 15-20 minutes take roughly an hour. I am an idiot for going there as often as I have. For $18.99 it's hard to argue that price. read more

I set up an appointment giving a list of things I wanted to be done on a specific car, like oil change, radiator flush, tranny fluid change, and inspection. When I got there, they told me they couldn't do the radiator and tranny flushes cause they didn't have the equipment. If I knew that, I would have went to another garage but one would think they would have known if they could before the car came in. But what grinds my gears (no pun intended) is I was told that my tires were no good and I had a bad bearing. Little did they know, I caught them in a lie or their worker didn't know what they were doing cause I, myself, have state inspection license. In 2012 I took my Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L Cummins in to Monro for a 100+ dollar oil change. After getting my truck back and paying the bill, I naturally opened the hood to make sure they didn't forget to put oil back in (it happens sometimes). The tech came out to make sure everything was ok. It had oil, but it seemed kinda thin. The very next morning my truck began misfiring on cold start up. I couldn't ever figure out what was wrong. Anyway, I later got another oil change, this time at Mansfield Exxon, and the mysterious misfire went away. I think Monro put 10w30 or 5w20 or something in my engine instead of the required 15W40. I shared my experience with co-workers in Mansfield, and they told me that my mistake was in going to Monro in the first place. They have a less than desirable reputation in Mansfield. read more

Stay away!! My son, a student at the University nearby, went there for an oil change and was told he needed over $700 in brakes, calipers, tires and whatever else they could think of. They told him that all sorts of things would happen to him if he tried to drive his car any distance (we live in Florida). Well he drove to Allentown, Pa and then to Long Island, NY and had a mechanic check the car to find he only needed his brake pads changed. What a horrible place! I went in for an oil change that was advertised as being $16.99 and ended up paying 20 something with all the added-on stuff... I realize there is tax and disposal, etc... but I felt it was misleading. Also, I have a car that is like new and the man tried to tell me there were all these things wrong with it. I went in with a car that drove great and after having the "free" tire rotation, the car wobbled and vibrated because it wasn't apparently done right. I had my regular garage correct this and they said one of the tires was not at the right setting... kind of seems a little intentional in hopes of having a repeat customer. I made an appointment on-line. Entered the make, model and year of my car. They responded with a confirmation. I drove more then 1/2 hour to get there, my wife also drove down so we could run some errands while in town. When I got there I was told"Sorry, we don't have a muffler for your car". No attempt was made to rectify the situation, no offer to find a muffler and reschedule, nothing. After leaving a feedback they called my home and lied to me about offering to find a muffler. They tried to claim that there were no complaints, I tolf them that most of the on-line reviews are negative. What good is a muffler shop that does not have mufflers, a total waste of time. I've been using this shop for quite a few years, likely around 15 years to be exact. It's located in a rural community with access to State Route 15 and few other choices for brake and muffler shops. In the end, I take my vehicles to this location simply because they offer more operating hours than any of the other local shops. When I initially started going to the shop I was a college student with limited funds and the technicians were helpful and mindful of my budget. As I grew older the shop became more concerned with miscellaneous charges and upcharging for oil changes and high end filters. I would receive coupons in the mail for money off an inspection and money off an alignment only to go to the shop and be told that they already discounted the services and the coupons were not useful. If I call and ask for the cost of an alignment and you tell me it's 75.99 and I arrive to pay for the service I contracted for at a cost of 75.99 and I present you with a coupon that came from Monroe Tire and Muffler...I would expect the alignment would cost 55.99. This is not the case. I've had two alignments done in the last month and it's the same each time. I'm always told the coupons aren't accepted. Back to the miscellaneous shop charge...this charge varies from 5.00 to todays charge of 10.59. I'm not sure what the charge involves, but it's on every bill I receive, like a tip for the shop. I completely understand that shops need to buy supplies, but you would think, that as an end consumer, they'd build that charge into their fee schedule. I've been overcharged for oil changes in the past and told that my car took 8 quarts of oil. When I called to advise that the car only holds 4 quarts I was treated like I was a fool and knew nothing about my own car...the one I have an owners manual to and drive every day. I take my car to be worked on as a convenience, not because I'm not savvy enough to do the work myself. Today was another example of being told I needed to spend an extreme amount of money to fix the brakes on my vehicle. I declined the service, came home, looked up the technical service bulletin that dealt with the problem, and fixed it in 20 minutes myself. If you're looking to get tires mounted and balanced and buy them online and have them shipped there, the guys do a great job. As far as brakes and other repairs, save them for a shop that can explain what they're doing and will explain the charges for what they're doing. read more

I brought my car here to have my annual inspection done. Afterwards I was told that I needed new outer tie rods because mine were, and I quote, "broken." I quote this because if your tie rods are actually broken you can't turn your wheels. I wasn't told that they were going bad or needed replacements soon, I was told that they were broken. They gave me an estimate of $350 to replace them and I told them I don't have the money now so I drove away. I called my mechanic at home ( I go to college in Mansfield) and was told anything over $200 was a ripoff. I took my car to another garage 4 days later and was told that my tie rods were going bad (not broken!!), but I also needed new rear brake pads and rotors, and I also needed 1 tire replaced, all for $325. So not only did I get lied to about my tie rods being broken, they were also going to let me drive on bad brakes and a bad tire, and charge me $25 more than what another place will charge me for the same job PLUS a brand new tire and brand new brake pads and rotors. If I could give 0 stars I would. DO NOT GO HERE!! You will be scammed and could also drive a dangerous car out of their parking lot. read more

Follow-up on post from July 2018 about muffler installation. Not only was there no hole in the manifold as was suggested by the "muffler professionals" making the noise that sounded worse then when I took it in, my mechanic said they didn't weld the top of the pipes which caused the noise. Fast forward not quite four months, took my car in for an annual inspection last week and my mechanic said they configured the muffler in such a way that the pipes were rubbing against the gas tank and causing damage there that made the car unsafe to drive. So, got a rental car because my mechanic could not fix the botched muffler installation until tomorrow. Car was towed to my mechanic and the tow truck driver said it wasn't only installed badly, it was also the wrong muffler! Manager was contacted and was supposed to come up yesterday to look at it mid-morning and I waited around all day for him, finally calling in the afternoon to have him tell me he had family problems to deal with. I asked why he did not call to let me know and he just said it didn't happen, did it? What a piece of work! Legal action will follow! read more

Do not go here, took my car in for simple oil change because works been hectic didn't have time to do my self, pulled me in back said to change 1 tire rod would be over $200, told him no thanks I can do that myself, he seemed agitated, when he pulled my car out and I got in it to leave the second I started driving it I knew something was off, then when I got to bottom of their driveway I realized my tire rod was completely broke. Never had issues before but I just said oh well ill fix it when I get back to my house. as I'm about to fix it I notice that something was set on the hood of my car!? the scratches are about 2ft x 2ft and you can tell what ever was set on top slid off accidently which is what made the scratches. called and asked politely if they could ask whoever worked on my car if they set anything up there. was told by guy at desk that they don't do that there and hung up.
