Expensive but good service. If you can't get into your normal mechanic, it's a good substitute. Just don't buy any of the extras they offer.

I'm disappointed that I have to write this, because when you find a shop you like, you stick with…read morethem. For about 6 years this was my go to place. I've had brakes done, oil changes (when I couldn't be bothered to do it myself), bought tires a few times and had those changed, inspections, and more. (I typically perform standard maintenance myself.) The employees and manager(s) were always fantastic and helpful. It was one of those places that said, "Hey your cabin filter's probably due for a change. If you want to do it yourself it's not hard, but we can do it for you for $X or Toyota might do it for free if you still have a maintenance plan with them." I used to work in my father's automotive and body shop and don't trust other ones easily but this is the type of response that makes me feel good about the place. The irony is that with this trust came recommendations. While they might not make bank on me, we've sent scores of people to them. However, today I brought in our two vehicles for inspection. I had called a few weeks before and the usual cheery voice got me on the schedule. As I've had simple issues before that would lead me to not pass, I checked the basics yesterday so i wouldn't have surprises today. After bringing in my first vehicle, I got a phone call saying that my car would need a new driver side wiper blade to pass as it was torn. I didn't mention the fact that I had checked it before bringing it in, assuming that the tech must have done it by accident. Also, it was raining the night before and I had rain on my windshield on the way there. I would notice if the blade tore off from the end on the way there. It wasn't that big of a deal though; the wiper was about 9 months old anyway. She asked if I wanted to replace the wipers for $50. Of course I asked if I could just run back over and put one on myself as I already had a set, and whoever called (I was told later it was the manager) said that would be fine. It's happened before and there was never an issue with this. (Again, it's why I checked the wipers before bringing it in.) I live about half a mile down the road and was there in less than 10 minutes. I walked over, changed the blade and walked in to have them finish up the paperwork. As an aside, the blade was torn inches (!) from the end, flapping in the breeze, so clearly not the way it was when I checked them the night before or when I used them on the way in. I was charged for the inspection and got my keys back. The person at the counter then asked what day and time I'd like to come back for a re-inspection since I had failed. That threw me for a loop. I explained the situation, and that it was only a driver side blade (probably torn by mistake) and that I was told on the phone I could just run over and replace it. He apologized and went to ask the manager and came back to apologize again and inform me that they'd be okay with fixing it right then, but that they'd still need to charge me for the "re-inspection." I think he could see how absurd it was and checked again. I paid because it wasn't worth asking him to go back a fourth time. I would understand if I failed for brakes or something more catastrophic and needed work done, but it was a wiper blade (that wasn't even torn when I brought it in). It truly feels as though it was done out of spite for me choosing not to pay for wipers when I already had new ones. Anyway, my wife decided she didn't want to have her car inspected there after that, and I agreed, so we canceled the appointment. We were also planning to get new tires for her car so opted out of that too. If the new management is going to be this petty and destroy the relationship, it's not worth going there anymore. There are plenty of other places around to try.

Scheduled appointment for Sunday afternoon to have tires rotated an an oil change and was told that…read moretwo had called off and I sho reschedule to avoid a long wait. Returned on Tuesday as scheduled and was told I would have a long wait and they suggested I return at 2pm. I returned and I waited for 40 minutes and then requested my keys back. They had no intention of accommodating me. I think they hate women.

I was feeling a bit of a vibration after hitting a nasty pothole a few days prior. I wasn't sure if…read morethe two things were related or if I just needed a wheel balance or alignment. I saw they had appointments available on the website the next day, so I stopped by first thing the next morning, which was a Sunday (thank you for being open on Sunday!!). I overheard the person behind the counter telling someone on the phone that they were overbooked and had limited staff available that day, so I figured they wouldn't be able to check out my car. However, once I talked to them, I was told that they could look at it if I was able to drop it off and pick it up later in the day, before 5pm. That was fine with me, so I left the car with them. I got a call less than an hour later where they told me that my rims were bent, so a balance would not fix the vibration. They didn't charge me anything to look at the car and give me a diagnosis, and that diagnosis allowed me to be able to move forward with addressing the situation. I appreciate them taking the time to look at my car so quickly, which allowed me to arrange to install my spare set of rims before my track day at Watkins Glen the following day even though I was several states away from home. I've heard good things about Firestone Auto Care from friends of mine in other states, and it appears their good customer service is consistent across their locations.

An appointment apparently means very little at this Firestone location. I scheduled a tire…read moreinstallation more than a week in advance for Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and dropped off my car at 9:50. By 10:55, they had not even started working on it. When I checked again around 11:25, I was told it would take another 45 minutes. At approximately 12:05, I went to ask for an update and noticed my car sitting in the parking lot. The employees at the front did not even seem to know that the technician had moved it there or what the actual status was. I understand that Saturdays can be busy, but that is precisely why customers make appointments. Waiting more than two hours for a scheduled tire installation--with no proactive update, no reliable estimate, and obvious confusion about the location and status of my vehicle--is unacceptable. If they were running behind, the courteous and professional thing would have been to tell me when I arrived. This was not simply a delay; it reflected extremely poor scheduling, communication, and management. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this location and will not return.
