They took really good care of me and were able to help a lot with the warranty I needed. Shout out to manager, Les! I bought a used car that was supposed to have had good life left in tires and inspected. But the tread was visible worn. While inspecting tires, they checked brakes, oil, and battery so that I could have whatever else was needed covered and completed. Turns out the battery was significantly low and they let me know the oil was brand new. Seeing that they have to prove these things to the warranty office I have no doubt that this is accurate. I could never say enough good things about this place. We were on vacation and our alternator went out Sunday. We got towed in here and they fit us right in no problem. When I arrived, she said "we will not accept you, the next available time is 11am, and I'm not telling you again". On June 29, 2021. I came in to this store for oil change and tire service. My left front tire was flat due to being a Uber Driver. Service advisor walked with me to my car to check my left tire, show me why it was flat, stayed with it until it was fixed. In addition, he did a great job making sure my oil change was done right. How things have changed. Tread Quarters, now Tire Choice is awful. I waited 2 hours before my vehicle was even looked at- for a FLAT repair. I was Initially told I'd owe $25. Then I was told it was unrepairable and you need a new tire. It was a Sunday at 2pm, and by the time I left it was almost 5. I felt like I was cornered. If I had been told it was unrepairable Immediately I could have evaluated my options. I felt cornered and trapped into paying $167. I hated my experience here and likely will not return. Additionally, the repair staff could be heard yelling, cussing, screaming and laughing/making fun of customers and their car Issues while sitting in the waiting room. I have 2012 Jeep Wrangler. Had brakes replaced on all four wheels. Machined the front two rotors and replaced the rear two. Within a day, I heard a lot of squeaking. They suggested that my universal joints were worn (and because of some vibration) I agreed to replace them. After that work was performed, they still heard noise. The manager John took me out to the shop and explained potential issues and made it his personal mission to resolve. He found that the front rotors needed replaced and did it for free. The Jeep no longer vibrates and no squeaks. Much better than lowcountry 4x4 which charged me $130 for a tire balanced that I didn't authorize or need. read more

I have a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica and needed a motor mount replace to prevent damage to my engine - which I plan on keeping my baby several more years. I have to say when I brought it there shy of my 90 day warranty expiring I thought my car was going to fall apart and just drop right in the middle of the street. I spoke with John again advised me to bring car in. Was to scared to drive it had it towed on a flat bed. He called back a few hours later and told me I could come & pick up my vehicle. He took ownership that the part was defective and replaced it. Car has been running smoothly since. Don't come here if you value your money, I went in for an oil change only for them to tell me my front brakes needed to be replaced ASAP, or things would start to go wrong. Well a couple days later I got a second opinion and I took them apart myself only to find out my brake pads were brand new, and my rotors were fine which they also wanted to replace. I went back to confront them and the mechanic told me he never even looked at the brakes , just heard squeaking. I saved 400$ they wanted to charge me because they didn't think I new better. This place will take advantage of people who don't know much, i almost lost 400$ because of their carelessness. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE! It took them 2hrs to replace one tire (with the tire in hand).. And they damaged the rim! They don't use anything to try to protect your car from their greasy/dirty hands and clothes when the drive it in and out of the garage. Just go to Gerald's down the street! Had a particularly unfortunate experience at the Tread Quarters location in North Charleston, SC on Rivers Avenue (location #742) where I was trying to get a warranty replacement on a tire that went flat while I was driving on I-26. The manager at the store was very condescending to me and appeared to want to take advantage of my lack of knowledge (as a woman) about auto mechanics. I was told that my tire, which had a nail in it, could not be plugged, and that I needed to have it replaced under warranty, which would cost me $98 (this a tire, with VERY minimal wear, for which I had paid $138) - 3/4 of what I paid for the tire in the first place. As a single parent and small business owner, I did not have the funds at that time to have the tire repaired, so I then called the store to ask about retrieving my tire and was told that it was likely trashed, but they'd have to see if they could find it (though I had not given them permission to make any alterations or perform any work on my tire). I went to retrieve the tire, expecting to have it in returned to me in the same condition in which I left it there, and the rim had been removed. The same condescending man also proceeded to argue with me about why my tire could not be repaired as he moved my tire to the trunk of my car. I called the national customer service line and was told that a district manager would return my call. He was EQUALLY rude and condescending, proceeding also to argue with me about the condition of my tire. I come from a school of thought that says that the customer is always right, and even when they aren't, they still deserve to be treated with respect and handled with dignity. It seems the folks at Tread Quarters believe fair treatment should only be afforded to certain people. . I personally will NEVER return to ANY TreadQuarters location, and I would strongly advise local drivers to patronize any of the locations of Gerald's Tires and Brakes where I've always been treated with respect and fairness. read more

I took my car to get it diagnosed. The charge was reasonable. They ran it through the computer but it couldnt pinpoint the cause. I was told it could be two items and they recommended I take it to the dealer. In the end they didn't charge me because they couldn't pinpoint the problem. Three different AAA representatives told me that my tires were cross-threaded. When I called Tread Quarters, the man that answered the phone, John, told me that "none of [his] technicians would do that," and then sighed like I was a child. I had AAA tow me to Tread Quarters bright & early for them to fix it. They had to replace all 4 lugs and 1 bolt. Hmm. John was much more personable off the phone, though you could tell he'd probably rather be at home. Trust me, buddy, so would I. They tried to convince me that somewhere in the quarter mile between Point A (where I turned on my car) and Point B (where I realized I had a flat) that I'd hit a pothole so large it bent the steel rim of the tire; since I drive that route literally every day, I find that impossible to believe. A nail or something, sure, but a pothole that big didn't just jump up out at me. I had to go down the street and spend $76 on a new rim, which I brought back to Tread Quarters. They then put on the new rim and my repaired tire. To Tread Quarters' credit, they did this all for free. So, while they did fix my tire, I'm still not particularly satisfied with the way things played out in my two encounters with them. I'll definitely be going to Gerald's from here on out. read more

This place sucks! Came in for an oil change and a flat and was informed that I had a nail with a head the size of my thumb nail stuck in the sidewall and was going to need to buy a brand new tire instead of getting it patched. Considering I throughly examined the tire and saw no such thing before taking it there, I'm 99% sure they stuck it in the sidewall just to sell a tire. They quoted me $250 for the tire and install... I've bought the same tires from several dealers and have never paid over $120. Jokes on them because I had a warranty with Discount Tire so I told them to forget it and put the spare on. I drove all the way to Florence for the closest Discount Tire just to get a free one but in the future I'll be giving Gerald's my business. I had a coupon for the oil change too but then ended up getting up charged for this that and the other thing costing me more than if I had taken it elsewhere for full price.
