Never go here. If I could give zero stars I would. Jimmy is an absolute scam artist who charged me $1,000 just to tell me the engine was at failure. We took the car in for his assessment because it was doing a worry-some knocking sound while driving. He did not provide any type of quote, just informed us that due to his "time" viewing the car, that is what his time was worth. Would not release the car until we paid $1,000 even though he did not do anything at all to fix the car. It was very difficult for him to provide an itemized receipt and took him many days over email to add up the numbers to make up what would entail the cost totaling to $1,000. These people are phenomenal!!! I have a son in law who is a Master Mechanic and usually fixs my car but he and my daughter just had their 3rd child and have the stomach flu. My car was acting up with all kind of lights on and what felt like a transmission problem. I went in and asked the 2 ladies and 1 man at Jimmy's to check my transmission fluid and he stopped what he was doing and checked my car for me. I tried to give him money for his time and he refused. Jimmy is a crook plain and simple. As mentioned in previous reviews he's an up seller. I had a simple muffler issue and ended up with several thousand dollars in unnecessary repairs. Eventually i took my car to dealer who confirmed the recommended repairs weren't needed. When i tokd Jimmy i was on a fixed income he suggested i borrow from friends. He hides behind comments about Jesus while siphoning $ from your wallet. His mechanic actually broke something and he tried to charge me for that repair too. When it was all over my car was in worse shape than when i brought it in. I had to buy a bew car. Avoid Jimmys at all costs! read more

First, be aware that Jimmy upcharges, meaning he waits until you leave your car and finds extra problems to charge you money. He didn't allow me to order my own parts, and he charged me $1,200, then another $400, which came to $1,600. Goes both ways.... Jimmy saved me a lot of money by doing a muffler (weld) repair on a 2004 Infiniti G35 exhaust when the dealer wanted me to replace the catalytic converter. KUDOS on the small repair. This week I brought in my "hunting truck" for making a loud clanging noise. They diagnosed as a bearing issue & I also needed new rotors. Jimmy gave me a "discount" because I really didn't want to do the work but he convinced me. $975 later I had new bearings & rotors. Unfortunately after picking up the truck I discovered it didn't do anything for the initial issue. The truck likely did need the bearings (definitely the rotors too) but I didn't need either of those done for my issue especially not on a truck I specifically informed was a hunting truck. Next, he diagnosed it needed a new front differential and offered another discount due to time of year to put in a used differential for $1050 which he solidified would resolve my clanking issue. I took the truck to my friend, who I should've originally taken it to, and he diagnosed it with me. It was the universal joint which can be repaired for $50 (no labor) & instead we replaced the entire drive shaft for $165 case closed. My friend isn't a vehicle mechanic by trade but it took him longer to jack the truck up than it did to diagnose the problem & will take about 10 minutes to change out the drive shaft. Told me he/we could have done the hub assemblies & rotors for about $450-$550 less worst case. Super happy he was able to do it but NOT HAPPY AT ALL WITH JIMMY's who nearly cost me an extra $1500 total for no reason. What really ticks me off is they probably never took all 4 wheels off the ground to (very easily) determine the issue I brought it in for but instead drove it & just moved on to the differential without putting eyes for the actual sound/problem. Final review - great for small repairs but get a 2nd opinion for anything major unless you already know what it is. read more

Well i left. Tried telling me 275 for a dicharge of ac system wether they charged it or not. I also explained my suspicion about the compressor clutch but told me no way to look at that first or bearing. Guess they thought i never seen under a hood before. First thing they wanna do is discharge and recharge ac and charge 275 to me. Then even just a ac discharge is 275 wether they fill it back or not... i guess they figured out i been under the hood of a car. And amost forgot, estimate of a compressor replace for an 04 mustang is 2000. Its a 250 to 350 dollar part at the zone yall. Not to mention the bs and rudeness. We rented an RV to limit our exposure and drive from NY to Florida. Unfortunately, we had one repair after another culminating in the need for an entire rear brake job on a Saturday after closing in North Carolina during COVID. Shop after shop was closed or refused to help. Finally Jimmy guided us threw the issues and directed us to his shop in Charleston. One of his guys was waiting and had agreed to stay to help us. I live on Daniel Island and was on my way to an appointment at a Honda dealership to have my AC looked at in our Odyssey because it wasn't blowing cold air. Being new here from Atlanta I still don't have a "neighborhood " auto repair shop so I had no idea where else to go except for a Honda dealership. In route I decided to Yelp auto repair centers and this shop came up with 5 stars. Because it was on the way I said what the hell and stopped to check it out. Thank the good Lord I did because it was a home run. They had my vehicle in the garage before they even knew my name and I was on my way back home in less than an hour. Total cost $145 plus $9 for a part and that included flushing out the freon and recharging the system. Both Firestone and Honda wanted around $99 just to evaluate and wanted me to leave car the afternoon. It would have taken longer just to get the paper work done in the amount of time it took to get me on my way at Jimmy's! Don't be fooled by the cosmetics of the building or the area they are located, truly a wonderful experience and there is a auto parts shop right next door. Thank you so much. I came in and Jimmy was not there I spoke to a guy named Danny. He didn't have a clue on how to answer my question about my car and made some stupid remark about something that didn't even pertain to my issue. I asked him about a freeze plug and he didn't even know what i was talking about. How could a mechanic not know what a freeze plug was? If you don't know about cars you don't need to be talking to customers because it only makes you as a business look incompetent and not able to fix a car properly. It was making a loud rattling noise and the service engine soon light was on. Apparently, it was just a broken cover to my exhaust and my gas cap. I have a ten year old VW Jetta that I love, and has been having some issues with a high rumbling idle, the check engine light coming on, and odd shifting times. The engine just wasn't performing well at all. I had the car repaired a few months ago, outside of NYC, and I recently relocated to Charleston when I began experiencing some major issues- the car seemed as if it wasn't getting proper air, or something. (I'm not the mechanic, so I obviously didn't know). Jimmy was quick to take our car- and that's not easy to find, because it's foreign. We didn't have to wait until the next day to get service, either. Unfortunately, being a ten year old car, there were multiple problems- including the timing belt and tensioner that a previous mechanic failed to change. (And note- my timing belt was less than 100 miles away from snapping, as cracked as it was. The tensioner could be moved with your index finger. Just BAD on the part of the previous mechanic) There were multiple hoses that were bad, as those NYC winters weren't kind to my car. In addition, the spark plugs and the valve gaskets were bad-- oil was leaking into where the spark plugs are, and they were covered in oil, causing them to not even work properly. After diagnosing the car and telling me what was wrong, Jimmy gave me an estimated cost. It was pretty high- far too much for my budget. But I had to do it- I can't be without a car, at this point. Jimmy gave me a HUGE discount on the labor hours, plus a discount on the parts, didn't charge me for the shipping of the VW parts he had to use (where generic parts wouldn't work), and I was able to pay for the majority of the bill. For the remainder balance, he allowed me to make payments to him, so it didn't just hit me all at once. THAT was truly appreciated, and very uncommon to have someone work with you when your budget is so tight. but he wanted to do right by us, he said, and given the age of our car, he knew we'd be back. Either him or another mechanic- right? And Jimmy will definitely be our guy. That's to say nothing of how nice he was to deal with. He explained everything to me so that I knew what was going on, why the bill was so high, how long things took, and what to expect in the future. For example, there's the tiniest air leak in my turbo. But it's nothing I need to jump on right at the moment (since I did just shell out all this money), and it won't harm anything else in the engine. So I have some time for that. Most mechanics I've dealt with act like everything has to be done sooner than later. Other people I have talked to may swear by their mechanics, but I'm swearing by this one. Saved out butts, he did. My engine overheated on the way back from Myrtle Beach, SC. My family and I were only a short way into our 9-hour trip when we found ourselves sitting at an AutoZone, looking for available mechanics in the North Charleston area. I ended up calling Jimmy's Auto after the store's recommendations fell through, and I am so glad I did. I highly doubt we would have received such great service anywhere else. Jimmy came up to the AutoZone immediately and helped us get back to his shop. One of his mechanics stayed late into the night to make sure we were on the road in the morning. Jimmy even took us to and from our hotel, which was a welcome gesture considering the unexpected service bill! Still, I was pleased with the price of service as well, which more than fair considering how quickly they got things done. We made it back to Florida safely, and on schedule! DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE HIGH RATING. This place is run by dishonest hacks. They managed to break my car so badly they had to get it towed and fixed by the dealership. I brought it in for a simple checkup and oil change. There was nothing definite wrong with the car prior. I have never, in my life, encountered such incompetency, ignorance, and lack of knowledge. They, in attempting to jump my car after they fucked it up the first time, hooked up their jumper to the battery terminal... And the car computer interface. Fried my entire electrical system. A mentally challenged monkey could figure out "red on red, black on black". The only thing they did right was not charge me for breaking my car. Edit: Nope. Promised to not charge me and charged me anyway. And they even fucked up the maintenance they DID charge for, and I had to go back for them to do it again. Entire day wasted thanks to these people. 600 dollars almost entirely wasted. Follow up edit: The brakes they installed are now knocking my car back and forth. I have to go to a new mechanic to get the problem they created and charged me for fixed again. THESE PEOPLE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE. Stay away. Jimmy's is an affordable and honest Mechanic. This place saved me from being ripped off by Hudson Nissan who diagnose me as having a different problem (supposedly a crack cam shift that was leaking oil on passenger side) and wanted to charge me $911.00 dollars to repair my 2008 Nissan Rogue. Jimmy's only charged me $ 366.00 originally plus $ 70.00 to top off transmission fluid for a total of $ 444.00 because the problem was only a (cracked CV axle that was connected to my transmission shaft) but that price was still way better than the 911.00. Plus they did not charge me a diagnostic fee and did it the same day in less than 2hours. This will be my go to mechanic for all moderate to major repairs on my Nissan. JIMMY and his crew are the absolute BEST in North Charleston. We came to Charleston for the first time and had truck trouble. We had it towed to Jimmy this morning (Saturday morning) in terrible weather! Jimmy could not get the specific part we needed over the weekend from any store because they were ofcourse closed due to bad weather. He went ABOVE and BEYOND for us he knew we were out of towners and our only transportation was not going to be fixable until the beginning of the week. He came and got us from our hotel with all of our stuff, brought us to his shop where we could stay warm (even though he was closed) , helped us find and get transportation to be able to make it back home all the way to Myrtle Beach! Jimmy made sure we were NOT stranded in the bad weather and cold. He took care of us when we were in a bad spot and now we are safe and sound in a car rental until our vehicle is fixed!!! I am from out of town and I had a tail light out. I just needed the light replaced. I walked into Jimmy's and it was very friendly and had a family feel. Three generation were there at the time. They were able to replace my light and had the bulb in stock because the part supply store is right next store. It is as if they have their own warehouse. They changed the bulb quickly and I was charged a minimal price. I am from the DC area in Virginia and I will say this is the best service I have ever had for my auto care.
