So I really wish I had reviewed this company over the years previously because they were absolutely fantastic and have provided a lot of great things to consumers with regards to tire selection and review, I'm genuinely disappointed with where the company has ended up. So to summarize, Tire Rack has made it clear that in this day and age, when failure of protecting consumer information is constantly in the news, they have absolutely no problem over-reaching and requesting an absurd amount of personal information from customers. There are numerous other solutions implemented by vendors everywhere for account validation that does not involve requiring customer to have their information publicly available or provide unnecessary information. The fact that tire rack has not implemented these solutions tells me they either have a vested interested in selling customer data or they do not value customer privacy, either way I cannot support a company of that nature. I recently place an order for a single replacement, using paypal (which I use with numerous other reputable vendors frequently and never have any issues), and was contacted via email stating my order required additional credit card validation (immediate red flag because I didn't use a credit card directly, so to my knowledge the vendor should on see that the order was completed with paypal) in the form "a phone number that is listed with Directory Assistance, under your name or your employer's name", which really raised the level of suspicious activity since all of my numbers are unlisted, and they have no way to validate my employer so I'm not really sure what the would gain from a validation standpoint, they would definitely gain valuable information to sell to third parties and use for market research and analysis. Upon contacting Tire Rack, the informed me that they did in fact have the right number provided from a previous order, but due to the high number of fraudulent order through paypal they require additional verification. (Not sure why the continue to allow it as a form of payment then but okay) and that in fact they only needed a "a valid number with a valid person on the other end" to confirm the order, which me calling about my order somehow didn't meet. The staff member from tire rack was helpful enough, but could not seem to give me clear information on how they would validate my purchase, and even went as far as to say "Usually the orders that are valid just provide us the information and ones who argue about it are fraudulent", which both is offensive and seems counter intuitive, basically, if you care about protecting your person information, you are a committing fraud. I may have just ended up on the wrong end of some shitty algorithmic software they purchased to detect fraudulent activity, but based on my phone call with them it seems they are insistent on obtaining customer information that provides no use for identity validation and is strictly used for sale/marketing purposes. read more

Tire rack is the worst place to buy tires. I bought a set of 6 bfg tires and 3 tires damaged out of round and one was inside defeats. Had me to spend extra money to do to road force balance to prove tires out of round. Customer service sucks. Please dont buy from these guys cause if they get you. They will not make right read more

Avoid this company at all costs. First, they delivered the wrong wheels to me, then they claimed the wheels they picked back up the day after were damaged and didn't refund me. And then, they send the new ones to my personal address instead of my mechanic, even though I called twice to make sure they had the address of my mechanic. A complete waste of time and money... Besides, this time around I found that tire prices had gone up substantially since I last bought a set. Upon the recommendation of my middle son I decided to check Tire Rack prices on line. That lead to a phone call to their South Bend location, which lead to a visit for the tires I wanted, plus installed....all for a lot less than I'd of paid on Grape road. I was treated and greeted in a friendly, prompt and curtious manner. I would refer friend, family or stranger to investigate prices and service at Tire Rack when looking for tires. If you ever have need to know anything about tires, or have the need to buy them, this is absolutely the place to go (www.tirerack.com). They have more knowledge about tires, than anyone out there, and don't mind talking your ears off about them. And their prices simply can not be beat! They're a huge warehouse, and stock pretty much ever size and brand of tire you've ever heard of. I ordered some Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 from them for $149 each, and they shipped them to the local "preferred installer" of my choice (which happened to be about 4 blocks from me), for $12 each, and were there the next day! How awesome is that!? $12/ea might sound like a lot, but remember they're out of state, so you don't pay tax on the tires! I checked on comparable prices in the area, and everyone was at least a couple hundred dollars more. One Goodyear shop wanted $1300 to install them! Fsck that! Have ordered tires for 3 vehicles and had them shipped to my installer in Milwaukee and Chicago. I have always worked with Ben (x4660) and he is amazing. He will call you back if you have questions. Recently I purchased 4 new tires for my '95 E320 Cabriolet. Had 3 blow out in a month, they replaced them overnight to Chicago. I can't say much about the other gear they sell, but this is THE place to go for tires. Huge selection of tires from a wide variety of brands at prices that you simply cannot beat. Shop around all you want, but the price you pay shipped ( no tax for CA!!! ) is still cheaper than what you can get at your local shops, Costco included. I'm talking $20 and up savings PER tire. The key here is to NOT buy the same brand/model of tire that came with your car. More often than not, the tires that came with your car are SUPER overpriced if you need to replace them. Without a doubt, Tire Rack is the L.L. Bean of the mail-order tire industry. I've used them on several occasions for full sets of tires and have never been disappointed. I had my tires dropped shipped to a local authorized installer and balanced/installed there. Kudos to Moroso Performance in Guilford, CT for a job well done. Tire Rack often saves me the time and frustration of dealing with my local tire retailers. Local tire sales people in my area are just as sleazy, if not sleazier, than used car sales people. With shipping/balancing costs considered, Tire Rack is usually cheaper than if I purchased tires through my local tire retailers. read more

With friends that live out in the South Bend area, the Tire Rack has been a convenient stop to get tires at the lowest price. The Tire Rack is hard to miss, it's right on the interstate and looks to be the size of a small city. I've never done the mail order route, but that appears to be the bulk of their business. However, the drive in business is also busy everyday. They have at least 30 people working there installing tires. The wait can be long, but the local tire places seem to take forever also. My advise for anyone taking the trip is to know what you want before you get there. The website is fantastic and the choices seem endless. Very disappointed in the customer service. I'm not great with cars so after doing some research online I determined that Tirerack was my best option for price and information and ordered. When the tires were delivered to the installer I selected I was informed that the tires were the wrong size for my car and they they often see this with users ordering from Tirerack. I called tirerack to review what had happened and how to resolve this situation. I was met with a customer service person who not only was not interested in helping me find the correct tire (I had originally just wanted to exchange) but had no interest in helping me with anything but a straight return (which I have to pay for). I honestly would have preferred to work an exchange out as that would have been better for both myself and tirerack - but it was made very clear to me that my business was not wanted. I now feel that I not only wasted a time and money on getting the wrong tires shipped, I'm also completely offended with how argumentative, rude and unhelpful the customer service representative was. Trying to save time and money by purchasing through tirerack has wasted more time and money than if I had gone with the more expensive options as well as caused me frustration. I dropped off my car to the installer and picked it up after work. very smooth transaction. zero hassel and beats waiting in line at costco or sears that are 25 miles away and I did not have to take half-day off to get this taken care of. plus costco doesn't carry the tires I want. excellent price for special order tires, plenty of installer network conveniently located in SF. no more half-day off, early morning drop off and taking train to work while tires are getting installed near my house. Seems the reviews on here are either a 5 or a 1 with hardly anything in between, which I guess isn't surprising since you either had a good or bad experience to spend time writing a review. I'm on the 5 star end for the buying process for sure. This was an amazing experience if you want some new rims because of how it glides you to a slew of tires that fit the rims you choose. The retail shops typically don't have a lot of rims, if any, so you need to get them first then go to the tire shop and so forth. Then gave me a ton of tire options and then local plan ed for installation for like $20 or $30 (with which I also had an awesome experience while there). The staff was super cool on the phone and the distribution facility (I chose to pick mine up near philly and saved $140 or something like that). Only thing that I wish would've been easier was scheduling the installation. You need to pick an installer and then they have that in their system, but then when I called that installer they couldn't get me in on the day I needed and I couldn't figure out how to change that option without calling and going through it it again. read more

This company knows how to take care of their customers! I've purchased 5 full sets of tires from The Tire Rack over the last six years and every purchase has been smooth as silk. They ship direct to my preferred local installer and I just show up for the install. The customer tire reviews on their website are a huge help in finding the perfect tire for your own needs. Today I had to call in hoping to find a small part that was recently lost from some after market wheels I purchased from The Tire Rack some 5 years ago, a wheel centering ring. A small and inexpensive little thing but necessary to assure the wheel mounts properly, safely and securely on my vehicle. Not only did they still have the part available to replace the one I lost, but they are sending me two of them (just in case another gets lost at some point) FREE OF CHARGE! Can't beat Tire Rack - tire sellers are notoriously shady businessmen, using every sort of dirty marketing trick to get you to overpay for an low quality product. That's where the sales and no-brand products come in. I tried (in vain) to buy a decently set of 4 tires at the same place I would have them installed. Total non-starter, the price ended up being $200 above what I paid with Tire Rack and having the tires mounted at a non-tire-specific mechanic. I'm now buying my second set of tires with Tire Rack (only because I sold the first car). Best price I could find anywhere, and I was able to buy one of my preferred brands that not a ton of big box stores hold (Sumitomo - last set were Kumho, but they don't carry those in the new car size). Price came out to hyper budget ($60 per tire for a solidly branded tire), which I don't mind, and I know that they will arrive on time and without issue for my man to install. Where do I start? I'm a previous customer of the Tire Rack. Purchased some new wheels for my 1997 Chrysler Sebring Convertible back in 1998, to dump the OEM steel wheels and hub caps. Those wheels were great, and of course, they went with the car when I traded it for my current 2001 Chrysler Sebring Convertible. Being the Limited model, my Sebring had really nice wheels, so no need for the Tire Rack back in Oct 2001. Fast forward to today....and now there is a NEED! Ordered the Sport Edition F10 wheels, Machined with Black accent. They look GREAT on the Sebring! There was a shipping snafu, as they actually shipped the wheels EARLY and UPS had to hold on to them for me to pick up after I got back from a business trip. Nicely handled by them! Price paid is very reasonable and they were great to explain everything about the wheels and how the installation should be handled (Suggested my local NTB, who did a great job installing them!). If/when I need new wheels, or maybe even the next set of tires or other accessories, I will be back to the Tire Rack. read more

I recently discovered TireRack.com. Great place. Fast shipment of most tire manufacturers. They destroyed CostCo prices and CostCo won't match online prices even with shipping. They have an assortment of other parts as well but they specialize in tires and rims. When you order, you choose a local installer. They ship to the installer if you choose. I used Goodyear in OpaLocka (see my review). Great place. Tires and rims arrived two days after placing order and I placed the order in the afternoon too. The installer noticed a scratch on one of the rims. A replacement is already on the way but I'm driving on the scratched one now. I will use this place again for sure. read more

I called customer service and really didn't get any " problem solving" solutions that wouldn't cost me even more money. Tire Rack and Sonsio conspire together to deny legitimate road damage warranty claims. It's a waste of time. After decades of buying from tire rack I will seek alternatives. I had a tire with a bulge that happened to be at the top of the sidewall near the wheel. I was forced to get Tirerack involved after Sonsio made multiple excuses not to accept the documentation they were sent. Tire Rack took the tire back to inspect and then claimed, or echoed Sonsio's claim, that the damage location was from removal tools. They refused to mount the tire on a wheel and confirm the bulge. read more

Worst first time experience with Tire Rack. They are unprofessional weasels with no concern for your safety. All they care about is making money off of you and Aaron Reitman, the business development manager is truly a devil in disguise. Please watch out for this employee, he lied to insurance companies and gave them false information but acted as if he was helping me. The only reason I know this is he accidentally emailed my friend who was copied on the emails. I purchased a set of Michelin tires for my Lexus, and since I live in Toronto I had them shipped to Niagra Falls at one of Tire Rack's Recommended Installers - Sears Auto Center in Amherst. The installer damaged my wheels badly with the machine and I was forwarded to their insurance company. The insurance company told me to get quotes for my wheels, I spoke to Lexus and provided the insurance company with the quotes. The insurance company tried to short change me and offer me 1/3 of the damage bill. Tire Rack would not get involved even though the Tire Rack website recommends for consumers to have their tires mounted at these RECCOMMENDED INSTALLERS, they tell consumers on their site when checking out that all of their recommended installers are chosen with strict guidelines including touch free machines and properly trained technicians. At the end of the day there was a difference owing and Tire Rack did not want to pay me for the damage. My wheels were so damaged I couldn't drive on them, I had to have my vehicle towed back to Toronto. I had to buy new wheels for my car and come up with over $3,500 because of this Tire Rack experience. I never expected this kind of treatment but it seems somewhere along the way Tire Rack has become concerned with nothing other than making a quick sale off their customers. I tried to save $35/tire but ended up paying over $3,500 from this experience. BUYER BEWARE - Tire Rack is not the best place to buy your tires from, go somewhere that values their customers. I ordered 4 new Pirelli tires from Tirerack mid-2015. Within a month of installation my car began to shake at 65 + mph. After several attempts balancing the tires, it was found that 2 of the new tires were deficient. One had a radial pull and another was out-of-round. Per Tireracks return policy, I have to prove that the out of round tire is deficient enough to warrant replacing. I was told that it needs to within the "wear" limits, which is understandable, but that I also need to have a Road Force test performed. Then, if the tires are deficient by their (Tirerack) standards, I can return them for a refund but only after purchasing two new tires first. For the $ you may save by purchasing through Tirerack, you're best to buy local and save yourself the potential hassle. read more

Couldn't be more pleased with this tire purchase. I sent an email to ask a question - answered. Did an online chat - answered. Ordered - delivered next day to the installation shop I chose (a Pep Boys local to me in So Cal) with texts and email updates. Went by the Pep Boys to inspect the tires. Looked perfect. Four Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Run Flat RSC BMW STAR 225/50R-17 tires. BMW 3-Series approved tire for a 2016 328i. Setup an installation and they installed them this morning. Spent a fortune here on a set of wheels and they send me a faulty rim. Gave me all the excuses why they can not accept it back and blame the problem on everything else. At the end... they didn't accept and now have to find another way to return these wheels. AVOID!! Lots of better local places you can buy from that actually care about their customers. I ordered a set of winter wheels and tires earlier in the season. One wheel showed up damaged with the tire improperly mounted. You couldn't tell it was improperly mounted until it was on the car and the air was released at a rapid clip. When I heard the air exiting, I found the leak and noticed that there was scarring on the lip of the brand new wheel. When I reached out to customer service, they would not replace the damaged wheel that I bought in "new and undamaged condition" and would not present me with a full refund. This place is crap. I have tried several times to buy tires from them without success, and in years past had sucess several times. I try there, because I get tired of tghe long lines at discount tire and want to get in and out with minimal pain and time off work. This time I tried email. Seemed like agreat idea. I narrowewd it down to 3 tires. There are only 3 that are both Z rated, are run flat, and fit my 2019 ZR1. I got a reply from Jerry after a day or two. It was a canned reply that basically said "yes, I will be happy to help, call me." I replied twice saying I could not, did not want to, and cant you just work with me. His reply both times was almost identical. Yes, I can help call me. So, Jerry has no desire to help. No desire to sell cars, at least via email, and does not care about customer service in the least. and is rather bkunt about it. I will from this point on take my business elsewhere, anywhere that they care about customer service. By the way, but I am now of the opinion that paying more for better service is better than the megastores that are impersonal, and dont care in the least about customer service. Want me to self checkout? Want me to wait in long lines? Not unless there is absolutely no other option. I've purchased tires from Tire Rack several times with satisfaction. I almost did not buy from them given a lot of poor reviews I saw on Google and Yelp. But, my last purchase in 2014 disappointed because the tires did not fulfill manufacturer mileage warranty by a significant margin. When I contacted customer service (Katrina S.), they quickly responded, expressed regret for my experience and provided terms of warranty which required proof of rotation, etc., and that tires must be worn down to 2/32nd's (new tires are 12/32nd's). So, I bought new tires (different manufacturer) through Tire Rack, but continued to run worn tires to get down to required depth. I live in CT, and in mid-November, I ran out of time and had to mount new tires to ensure I did not put me and my family at risk with worn tires on ice and/or snow. Trouble was that I was only at 3/32nd's. I explained situation to two customer service rep's (Katrina S. again and Cathy S. - both are excellent) and they arranged for tires to be returned for adjustment to their nearest warehouse. Initially, they said manufacturer would not honor warranty because tires were not worn to 2/32nd's, and they said the the tires were not worn to 3/32nd's. I thought I was about to be disappointed. But, they went to bat for me with manufacturer , and they got me a very satisfactory refund equivalent to my expectations even though I did not buy replacement tires from that manufacturer! Extremely helpful customer service. Paired up with a local installer to make it incredibly easy for myself. A customer service rep even called me to see if I live in PA. PA recently changed their laws regarding dropping a size from the OEM offered tire/wheel size. The rep called to tell me this and make sure that I would be able to get the tires installed. I am living in Utah currently so this would not be an issue. I also entered the wrong billing information which was resolved via email with another customer service rep. I received the tires and wheels directly to my installer which had the tires on my car in under 24 hours since I placed the order. One of the wheels did arrive with a nick/abrasive mark on it and I am awaiting to hear back what Tirerack.com will do to address this issue. I found a huge chunk of metal in my tire a few months ago that couldn't be repaired. Of course I put off buying new tires since I've been away and they aren't cheap. I found a great price @ tire rack! I don't know if I got lucky or what, but they had them in stock a few hours away so the arrival estimate was today. Faster and cheaper than multiple other retailers?! Yes please! I ordered them yesterday morning and had them shipped to my favorite DC mechanic. I made a 4pm appointment & although they hadn't been delivered by the time I got there, UPS walked in about 2 minutes after. Perfect timing! I also have to mention that I did not receive the email confirmation (whoopsie! I typed my email in wrong) and called customer service which was also a pleasant experience. Both sets arrived a day earlier than promised (one shipped to my house on Nantucket, another shipped to an installer in CT). Pricing remains very competitive, even after figuring in installation charges. Selection is second to none, particularly for vehicles with uncommon tires sizes, and actual consumer reviews with surveys on the website are very helpful in evaluating the pros and cons of various tires offered. Being a 'car guy', I've known this place for years and have driven past their massive location numerous times in the past. While dealing only with ordering online, to date, I never had any real issues with receiving tires or wheels. However, my past order from a few days ago and not at the fault of TireRack, but rather UPS, the 4th rim and tire never made it to my home, it was in fact lost by the transit company. Due to this, I was on the phone with UPS for nearly an hour regarding launching an investigation and inquiring within about how to expedite the process, if at all. After all was said and done, I still felt a bit lost about everything, but it occurred for me to try and contact TireRack just to see if there was anything they could do. I spoke with Lindsay I believe, whom I told the situation, expressed my concern wasn't just for myself, but for all parties involved, that if the 4th rim and tire were found by UPS, that I would want it returned to TireRack and not my home, as I did not pay for it, if a replacement was sent by TireRack. Lindsay reassured me that all would be taken care of and I duly noted that I specifically was missing a passenger side (directional tires) as well as the actual mounting hardware as well. Less than ten minutes on the phone later, all was complete and an hour after the phone call, I received an updated order confirmation of my replacement wheel and tire. Lindsay did give me a heads up that since the tire was in stock at IN but the wheel was out in CO, they suggested I could either ship the tire to CO and have it mounted and balanced there and then shipped to my home, or they could ship them both out separately to my home and once I had it mounted/balanced locally, they would reimburse me. Obviously, I chose the first option. I was lastly informed that if/when UPS found my initial lost wheel/tire in question, they would only contact TireRack, so I would not be informed, then TireRack would request it get sent back to them directly, not me. If UPS happens to not find this item, then TireRack would pursue getting a refund from UPS directly as was at the fault of UPS and per contract agreement, it is within clause agreement - because of this, I as a customer, would not be paying for anything (which I expected, but was still glad to be told this). I have ordered at least ten times from the tire rack I have even given new tires to employees as bonuses from the tire rack. two years ago I ordered ultra toil chrome plated aluminum rims and pirelli snow tires and installed them on my work truck for 4 months for the winter, then took them off and once gain installed them in december of 2019 and recently took them off in april 2020. these were on my truck less than 8 months in total over two years with less than 6k miles. The tires are still in excellent condition but the rims are dissolving on the back side and I no longer feel safe driving with them. I contacted the tire rack and at first they said no warranty on the back side so I posted a bad review on their site and they then offered 50% off replacement rims, i tried repeatedly to contact the agent who offered that but she never returned my calls. I noticed my bad review was taken down so I reposted it and once again the tire rack has taken it down. they seem concerned only about reviews on their site but not in actual customers. read more

I'm satisfied with Tirerack.com, but not with their "Recommended installers". Tirerack.com states: "All of Tire Rack's Recommended Installers are carefully screened to ensure they have the right equipment and experience to satisfactorily serve our customers. In fact, to become a Recommended Installer a company must meet our uncompromising criteria." "Recommended installer" Curry's Auto Service #1194 in Arlington, VA apparently didn't have either the right equipment or experience. My 2002 BMW z3 Coupe car has different size tires and rims in the front and rear. Curry's mixed up the rims and tires which I discovered when I got home. Found all tires were low on air -- about 8 pounds. Went back the same day to have them fixed. They damaged all the rims while mounting the tires. The mechanic drove the front of the car over the curb and scraped the underside. July 15: Curry's manager David and I agreed to split the cost of professional touch-up painting of all four rims. July 16: Found steering wheel vibration at around 45 mph. Went back to have it fixed. July 30: Curry's manager David was supposed to schedule the touch-up guy. He didn't. So I sent him an estimate for repair of rims. He didn't respond. August 12: Curry's also did not respond to a complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau (BBB Complaint ID 10173608). September 17: I submitted a complaint to Tirerack.com. They immediately acknowledged it. October 3: Have not heard what action, if any, Tire Rack took against their recommended installer -- Curry's Auto Service. read more
