The good folks at Tires Plus in Buffalo Minnesota told me they do not care. Called Tires Plus and requested repair of my 2003 Ford Ranger emergency brakes. They said they could fix the problem, so I had my assistant follow me to Tires Plus so I could leave the truck there. I requested they fix it same day as I brought it in because I've had gasoline stolen from my car leaving it overnight at Tires Plus Buffalo location. The emergency brakes were completely non-functional, with the cable so loose the pedal didn't stop until the physical limit. These brake components (minus drums and shoes) were 20 plus years old, rusty and in a couple places worn through the outer covering into the cable itself. Got a call from Tires Plus, Buffalo Minnesota October 10th, 2025 at 11:15AM. I was told "it's going to be expensive" to fix my emergency brakes!  (it was around $900.00) I said - Go ahead and fix it. Got a call around 4:30PM I was told "We thought replacing the rear components would fix the emergency brakes, but, it didn't. It will cost another $600.00 to fix the emergency brakes." Since it was closing time anyway, and I wasn't going to leave my truck there, I said to button it up and I will finish the job myself (I've rebuilt engines and transmissions and repaired everything on cars from the 70's to today with many brake jobs - I'm not an expert mechanic, but experienced. When I got home and took off one of the rear wheels and went to remove the brake drum, it was so tight that I bent my gear puller 5/8" steel bolt trying to get it loose. The hub center where the drum lands wasn't cleaned - it was rusty and rough and tight. I went to the other side, where I found the brake drum had a large chunk of steel out of it. It could have been dropped, breaking it, or it could have been broken when they tried to remove it after realizing that their "spray and pray" approach to auto repairs didn't fix the Emergency brake. I couldn't remove the broken drum with my puller either.  At this point I called the manager and requested they get those drums back off so I could finish the repair job, since it appeared that only with massive force would these come loose, and they'd probably be damaged by all that pounding. I wasn't going to do it. The manager agreed to replace the broken drum and do the work so I could remove the drums myself with reasonable effort.  We agreed I would bring the truck in at 8AM on a Wednesday morning. On Wednesday morning I scheduled my assistant to once again bring me Tires Plus Buffalo Minnesota so I could leave the truck to get repaired. Upon arrival I spoke to (morning manager). I asked how he felt about what happened with the misdiagnosis, broken drum sent home and my own time involved.  I was searching for any kind of "ahh sorry....", but was met with complete indifference to my problem. I asked three times - "do you care that this got messed up?" and each time the response was clearly given in body language. He didn't care one bit. He responded "What do you want me to say?" I said maybe Russ Peterson the owner will care - morning manager still couldn't muster up any kind of apology or any accountability for a misdiagnosis that cost me time and money - " I didn't do the work." was his response! When I asked the original manager the same question, it was clear to me he didn't care either! We'll replace the broken drum was the best he could do. The manager seems like a nice guy whom I've worked with for 20 plus years, which is why I apologized when I walked out the door an unhappy, unsatisfied customer who not only didn't get his Emergency brake fixed, but now will need to find a new mechanic that I can recommend to my family and friends. And I hope plenty of people avoid the painful mistake of choosing Tires Plus Buffalo Minnesota to work on their car. They've shown me and outright told me they don't care. read more

I've had issues in the past with this location but when my husband hit a chunk of metal that put a hole in his tire he was flat right outside this location and they refused to help get him back on the road. (The bracket to get the spare off seemed to have broken too) The truck was filled with our belongings as we were in the middle of moving with rain predicted to come. Him making time to fit us in was our only hope. Thankfully a nice man stopped and helped us limp it home. This man shared similar negative experiences with this tires plus location. And as the cherry on top, the man spoke in a very condescending tone and wouldn't even hear me out. It seems like poor business practice to not leave a bit of time for emergencies when someone hits something on the road as a tire shop. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Hopefully that man can learn how to speak more kindly to customers too. read more

Avoid this place! They wanted to charge me $450 to replace Tire Pressure Sensors. I got it done at Discount Tire for $250. Also wanted $350 to fix my chamber bolts. Something that took me an hour to do in my own. Overcharge, overcharge, overcharge. I would get a second opinion before doing the work they recommend. I will not be returning read more

We have purchased tires at this stores for all three of our vehicles the past few years. They stand up to their guarantee in quality customer service and competitive pricing for tires and auto repairs. I was very impressed by the service they provided on Valentines Day 2018. My wife went to their shop for a slow leak on a tire and they quickly fixed it. They stated that it was a bad valve stem and they did not charge us because our tires were purchased at their shop. Then a week later on Valentines Day my wife went shopping and after coming out of the store noticed that the same tire went flat. She called Tires Plus and they sent out two men to drive the van back to their shop to figure out why the valve stem popped off and the tire went flat. She was very relieved to witness the two men servicing the vehicle and taking it to the shop for repairs. We found that the valve stem on the tire also included a sensor which also popped off. They replaced the valve stem with a new sensor (about $90) and did NOT charge us. I was very impressed how they handled this situation. The sensor was not part of the original work but they replaced it without any additional charges for labor or parts. We have had other positive experiences with Tires Plus Otsego and trust their work. They have proven this many times. read more

Went in last week for a tire rotation and oil change. Less than a week later my tire almost fell off because whomever didnt torque my tires good enough. I assumed it was a wheel bearing. This should NEVER happen. Had I been on the freeway going 70 and lost a tire that couldve gotten me killed or possibly someone else. Went in with the receipt from the other mechanic and they gladly paid the $35 service fee. Meanwhile the BS costed me a half day in labor as I was out of a vehicle for most a day. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the guys who work up front are great customer service. Perhaps they should also do everyone else's job because the garage guys dont have their shit together. read more

I went there and got 4 new tires when I originally made my appointment they made it seem like the alignment was included but when I went in to drop my car off and asked about it again the guy said oh that's 99 dollars extra I said okay fine whatever I needed it done when I went to pick my car up I went straight home (5min from the shop) it seemed fine next day I have my son in the car on our way to my moms I noticed a terrible shaking and thumping sound coming from the front left I pulled over to check the tire and I can move the all but 2 lug nuts with my fingers had my husband come to tighten them he was able to tighten ALL the lug nuts on ALL tires when i went back into the shop the manager tried to tell me that kids in the neighborhood like to mess with tires and maybe the guys who did my brakes messed up (I had my brakes done at a different shop before I got my tires) he just kept giving all these bogus scenarios and took zero responsibility he said the best he could do is refund me for the alignment that's supposed to be included (which is off because they didn't have the tires on tight) and an oil change lmao like i would trust them to touch my car again he also told my husband but not me that they supposedly have cameras and are going to investigate which I doubt because he would have told me that when I was there I've called corporate waiting on a call from the district manager I would never use this place again I have video evidence of everything for spending 1200 dollars I'd expect them to know how to tighten lug nuts now I have to take my car into a different shop to see if my rim is bent or anything else is messed up because they can't do their job nor own up to their mistakes read more

This message is in regards to my experience with Alex Lau, Store Manager at your Tires Plus location in Ostego, MN. I rarely, if ever, leave reviews and/or submit comments about my customer service experiences, but strongly felt compelled to take the time to do so because of the amazing experience I had . My partner and I were traveling from Montana to Ohio for a move, and popped a tire on the highway. I brought the car in and Alex took care of us promptly. He was empathetic and friendly. He had a much appreciated sense of urgency in trying to get us back on the road safely and looked for ways to accommodate us in finding the most cost effective solution. He truly embodies customer service. He is the EXACT kind of person I would hire to manage my business. You are lucky to have him as a representative of your brand!! If I was local to the area, he would have my business indefinitely. Everyone else that we encountered at your Ostego location was also excellent.
