The referred me to Frankie's towing due to it being the overall best value in the area, and because they also have a trusted relationship with them. The staff is friendly as well, so the only draw back is really that the entrance and waiting area feels a bit dirty and run down. Fast forward to the other evening, and a phone call with a dear friend results in learning that a family friend who had helped raise him, the mother to one of his closest friends from childhood to this day, was on her death bed across state lines. His car was in the shop from a hit and run. Suddenly, the minor repair I'd ignored for months became top priority, because I didn't want him needing to return to the Twin Cities immediately if he carpooled or spend a ton on a rental and still have to measure his stay to minimize the rental expenditure. I had an unexpectedly busy day yesterday, so once I was free today, I picked one of the best-rated Plymouth repair shops and grabbed my phone, expecting it to be the first of many calls, given recent experiences with fielding this exact repair for my car. Nope. John was not only truly warm, he was very considerate and informative in his questions before inviting me to bring my car in for a quick repair today, despite it being already 3:30 pm at that point, with the shop closing in an hour and a half. I got to the shop at 4 pm. Less than half an hour later, I was leaving with my car no longer clanking from a loose part. I think I've found a solid new (and far more local - my go-to shop up until now required a half hour drive, but I love my car so I didn't mind) doctor's office for my car.

I called the shop to ask what happened and proceeded to yell at me and said they found it that way (they could have mentioned it on the inspection report). That was a lie, as I had replaced the oil of the car one week before. They should not have released the car to me without telling me about the damage. In fact, I probably would have paid them to fix it. What else did they cover up? Ill bet there was not a nail in my sidewall, they just wanted the money. Do not bring your car here. Sept 4 I bought 4 tires from Tires plus $1744.39. The following week I called to inquire if an alignment was done at the time I purchased the tires. The guy said no and referred me to their sister company Firestone. Sept 25, 2025 Alignment was performed. I upgraded to a lifetime alignments for 208.99. When I made the appointment he said it would take about 2 hours. Done in 40 minutes. I was grateful and drove away. No alignment paperwork was given to be. April 2026 I brought my car into the dealership for service and was told I needed 2 new front tires. I called Tires plus to verify I purchased the tires a few months earlier with 6-8K miles since my alignment? Tires plus agreed it doesn't sound right. I brought my car in to Tires Plus and spoke to Alan. He berated me and said I needed new tires. He said he doesn't know how bad I drive and referred me to the alignment people and said it wasn't aligned right. He gave me a copy of my alignment (pre and post). I called Firestone and he told me they got new computers so all data is in a box but come in and they will look at my tires. The guy said they put the wrong tires on my car and that is the reason. He showed me the warning that you would have to bypass in order to order these tires for my car. Firestone still no paperwork on original alignment- said he has 2 more boxes to go through. I called and filed an original complaint with their company. I called again 3 days later and the complaint was closed by Alan from tires plus. He said he took care of it. I said no he didn't, I want to talk to someone about how he treated me AND about my alignment. I don't think they ever did one at Firestone. I called the complaint line again- they escalated it to the area, then division, then corporate ladder several times-not one person has called me back.

Since I go in to work tues-thurs I had to go on a Friday, which I know is busiest for any type of car-business. I made an appointment for their 'back to school special ($60 for tire rotation, full synthetic oil change & alignment check) to drop off at 8am, and they said I could drop off any time between 7-10am! When I got there at 8am there were 3 other customers, one was sitting and waiting for a car and another was talking to a specialist. I was helped pretty quickly for being an early Friday morning. I asked for the special and they asked if I had any concern with my alignment, I said no and they asked if it was ok if they skipped the check since they may not have time to get to it. I said that was totally fine, and they promised if there was time they'd get to it. They also said they'd check if I needed the tires rotated before they did it, and they'd give me the oil change special if no rotation was needed, which was only $50 for the full synthetic change (normal oil change for me is normally between $70-$80). After this, I gave them my keys and I was off! I was called around noon to grab my car, and I headed over around 1:00. They let me know all I needed was the oil change so it was only $53 with tax. I appreciated that they didn't do anything or charge me for anything I didn't need! Will definitely be back for any other services I may need!

Less than two weeks ago, I scheduled a brake replacement (and possibly more, if needed) with one of their friendly service advisors. While the brakes are still safe they will soon need to be replaced and there was also a discount expiring this month. At that time, the service advisor and me discussed adding an additional coupon we had received. Though I pointed out to the advisor that the coupon explicitly said no stacking, he agreed to stack them anyway given my family's loyalty. Today, when I dropped the car off I double checked with the assistant manager if they would honor my agreement with his service advisor and to my surprise he said he would not. I explained that if that was the case I wouldn't go forward with this maintenance or future work with TGK. The assistant manager said something to the effect of we are busy enough without your business. Fair enough and so I left. I run my own side business, was previously a licensed attorney, and have been a registered lobbyist for nearly twenty years. In this time, I've learned that my most important asset is my integrity. If I promise something to someone that is an iron clad commitment. Even if later I wished I had asked for more or something different. When it comes to car repairs so many customers worry they are being taken advantage of and that repair shops aren't being fully honest with what needs to be done. I had never experienced that before with TGK, but today I did and they just lost thousands of dollars of future business over maybe at most $100 and a broken promise.
