I was nervous to have a new company come out and 1) find something wrong and 2) try to sell me on things I didn't need. Michael H. with Better Basements and Waterproofing was honest - what was done by the former company wasn't up to his standards, however, it's fine for now and we can probably wait a few years before having any work done again. He also said we could use Better Basements and Waterproofing for sump pump maintenance (since we can't use the original company), however, he reassured me there isn't a binding yearly contract and I can just call if I'm interested (no need to agree this moment). I appreciated how honest and thorough he was in his inspection and in his explanations of everything. I've had a lot of companies over the years try to sell me on things I don't actually need. Michael didn't, and because of that, I actually will probably use Better Basements and Waterproofing in the future if I do need work done.

Their employee proceeded to tell me that our home had not flooded, that IF it flooded it was somehow our fault or I was a liar. He refused to acknowledge our buckled floors that you can visibly see and feel when you are walking in the damaged areas. The man was insane. Needless to say, I kicked him off our property. Thank goodness hospice workers were driving up our driveway, or he would not have left. Hospice saw that I was visibly upset with the man's insane behavior.

Avori was very proactive in addressing the severeness of our crawlspace leak. The Portland flooding and our non-functioning French drain made it really bad, allowing water to literally flood into our crawlspace! Avori and his team worked through the water and mud, installing new posts and beams, redirecting the water to a newly installed sump pump. The job took much longer than originally anticipated but was done well and our foundation is now much more stable. I really would have given five stars if the original quote caught everything but it wasn't flooding when the sales guy, John, came out so he didn't see the extent of our foundation issues. Avori was able to keep the increase to a minimum and we really appreciated all he did for us.

I hired John's Waterproofing to waterproof a corner of our basement…read more In this corner there was the only bathroom of our basement apartment that we rent out. John's told us that the toilet would always be available and the that the rest of bathroom would be put back together within a week. They never were able to get the toilet functional. John's plumber had some problem that didn't allow him to drive. Thus, the apprentice did all the driving. A combination of life issues between the plumber, the apprentice and poor scheduling and planning on the part of the John's made it so that the toilet was still not working after almost two months. I finally have John's one last attempt to install the toilet telling them "If you can't get the toilet working by Monday evening, I'll have to hire someone else to install it". Once again, a scheduling issue kept them from being able to install the toilet. I called another plumber that night and had a functional toilet by noon the next day. The new plumber was then able to finish the rest of the work the John's was supposed to do by the end of the next day. Even worse, it turns out that John's prior attempts at work had dumped concrete into our watermain. It cost extra work to clean that mess out. I strongly urge you to stay away from John's Waterproofing.

Work completed before estimated completion date. On the 1 outdoor area, there was a retention stone wall, along with some other items requiring extra work to get to where they needed. After the work was done, it was all put back together and meticulously cleaned - you cannot tell that any work was done there; absolutely perfect! It was not easy to do what they did at that particular location. Value: Even though foundation repair/work is a costly service/installation; you certainly get what you pay for with Ram Jack West. I received more value than what I paid. You see, their value started 4 years ago, in 2022. I had them come out, define and price the job and signed a contract and paid 1/2 upfront. Within a couple weeks after signing I became critically ill, in the ICU and Hospital for 2 months. As a result I lost my job among other things and have a permanent disability. I reached out to Ram Jack West and they, very graciously, supported me by refunding my money immediately - especially at my greatest time of need. This is well above and beyond exceptional for a business and that is a huge factor as to why I called them back, in 2026, after I had stabalized, and got some money together. They re-bid the job, I expanded what I wanted to have done and they accomodated my requests. They helped me work out financing and walked me through the processes very thoroughly.
