We accepted the offer and her team came out early the following week committed to completing the job before my deadline. The team did a fantastic job, exceeding my expectations. I was particularly impressed with the construction of the three gates I called for. Two side gates were especially attractive, and a double 10 foot gate in the back was very well constructed with 8 inch square pressure treated posts and a steel frame supporting the structure. A couple weeks turned into over a month because life happens and I recently sent him an email asking him if he was still interested or what happened or if he had anything for me from our meeting I don't know what happened but communication went to nothing and I feel like I was ghosted after our first meeting, which sucks because I was really excited with all the ideas that he had given me for a remodel of my kitchen that is not incredibly user-friendly at the moment.

Brandon the owner was attentive and receptive to our thoughts and ideas from the beginning of the project until its completion. Brandon was very helpful in his suggestions of multiple suppliers of materials we hoped to use and others we hadn't thought of. Brandon's subs were on time, courteous, communicated with us on what they were doing and projected completion times. We have a large space for the extra materials bought, so that wasn't an issue for us. Using an outside sink area and an office for our temporary kitchen worked out well, as Brandon said the living room didn't have the wattage necessary for the use of a microwave and other appliances we wanted to use. We hope to use Nikao Construction in the future, for their craftsmanship, their integrity, availability via phone or text, and for their sense of humor.

One project was a very challenging disassembly of a large gazebo (16'x9') and deck (about 25'x 9') and he and his team took such great care in taking it apart without damaging any of the pieces and loaded it into a 20' uhaul. The other project was to install a large cedar trellis, and it came out really beautiful. The project included taking down the old trellis and then doing craftsman style angle cuts, fitting notched pieces together and installing 6x6 posts and 2x8 cedar rafters. Based on other reviews this guy doesn't know how to measure and I would not recommend him. I would complain and ask him to come fix it but I don't even want him to do that.

Removal was good, but all five posts were installed incorrectly: one was twisted and not aligned to our backyard, four were incorrectly spaced despite request for 8' apart. They are all 1" - 4" off, so we can't get our prebuilt panels in. Chad offered to fix the issue when we complained directly, but failed to show on the scheduled date (he didn't reach out, we had to, and got a "sorry, can we reschedule"). He failed to show on the rescheduled date and again asked for a reschedule. We are clearly not a priority and we cannot wait anymore and now have to fix it ourselves. Really disappointing, especially since we had a lower estimate with a different company but chose this company with the hope they could be retained on some other home projects in the future.

Concrete patio was ok but not great. There is a brush mark that stands out as it was done in the…read moreopposite direction of the rest of the patio and there isn't enough sealant on it as when it rains there are visable marks that look like lightening strikes with black spots. It just about looks like where the concrete is going to eventually crack? It's been a couple months now but maybe it takes longer for that to go away? The patio roof is fine on the straight part, other than the sections are not even - couldn't put the skylight where we wanted because it wasn't 24 inches wide so the skylight wouldn't fit there. all of their crew did not know how to properly fit the 90 degree angle side to the straight side. one side of the angle was not attached properly, but the other side was done correctly. Looks like one of their guys knew what he was doing and how to use the connecting metal brackets but the guy on working the other side of the beam did not. Even though that section will eventually be covered up/closed off with a ceiling it looks unprofessional. Also, on the front facing side of the roof there was a board that stood up in the inside corner that would not allow the roof flashing to lay flat in the inside corner that would hinder the water flow that would be draining to the gutters that we had to fix.
