So in the summer, instead of sucking in air from the inside of the house, it would be be sucking in 100F air from outside, making the AC inefficient. He took the time to drive to the store to get sealant to fix the leaks inside the intake box, and spent an hour applying the sealant himself. Did not ask for any extra money, did not complain, had a great attitude, and really wanted to make sure that he gave 150% effort to the customer. Then he re-tested the system and the system passed this time showing barely any leakage. Gave us the report and the paperwork needed for the building inspector. If you do your own HVAC upgrade without a city permit, you think you save money by not having to spend money on HERS testing. Nothing could be farther from the truth. When it comes to spending money, I'm cheap. I didn't realize that Jason's job is to make sure that the extra money you spend on upgrading your ducts/AC equipment to more efficient equipment is not in vain due to leaks in your ducts A+++ experience with using this company for HERS testing, and will recommend to others to use this company.

He came with the proper equipment to take accurate measurements, and generated a comprehensive report. He was very efficient. Furthermore, Jason had the HERS report sent to the City of Lake Forest electronically, so the city inspection went very smoothly. Great value for the services they provide, not only for the testing, but also for the reporting to the city inspectors. I highly recommend Jason and Reliance Energy Services. Thank you, Jason.

My 86-year-old mother lives alone and recently told me that her house has been freezing for months. Because I do not live close by, I sent an HVAC serviceman out (from another company) to look at her system. After seeing pictures of the attic and HVAC components, it was clear that she needed an entirely new system, including air ducts (which had decayed through the years) and she needed additional blown-in insulation to reach an R30 factor. Using Yelp and other Google searches, I identified four HVAC contractors in her area. Two of the four estimators were arrogant and had trouble answering my questions over the phone. They spent most of their time telling me how good their companies were and how bad the competition was (even though I did not give them their names). The other two contractors, one of which was OakRidge Energy, seemed very experienced. Both were very kind to my mother and were very professional with me over the phone. The two arrogant guys provided ridiculously high quotes. The third was quite a bit less. OakRidge provided the best price and threw in a free "before and after duct pressure test." My mother was so happy that I had chosen OakRidge Energy because she "really liked the guy that came out to estimate the job." We signed the contract on a Wednesday, the team arrived on that Friday, and they had the entire job completed by 3:00 pm that Saturday, just three days after signing the contact. The office team, Rebecca and Hannah, were excellent as well. They were always available, pleasant to work with, knowledgeable, and very responsive. And the owner, Chris, responded to each of my technical questions, via email, in minutes. Although I did not meet the installers, my mother, sister, and brother-in-law did. They were all very impressed with how Armando, Carlos, and Cesar went about their business. They were very pleasant, were very clean and organized, knew exactly what they were doing, and seldom took a break. I asked my sister to look over the review that I had written. Here is her response unedited.... "Randy that was PERFECT! They were amazing & so professional. We all felt so comfortable with them that Mom went away for the day and Phil & I sat downstairs. Never once did we feel we needed to stand over or watch them, it was weird how much trust we had in them they just came across as hard working, honest guys and they truly were. We really got lucky with them and trust me Mom is warm up there." I strongly recommend that you ask OakRidge Energy to provide an estimate for a home energy survey or an HVAC system upgrade, if needed.

They rarely answer the phone or return messages. I would avoid them in the future if you are going to depend on them for any kind of service for your installed units Update: Turns out the units were faulty because of my dusty house, a through cleaning of the pumps fixed the issue!(Which they did with no charge to me)

AVOID AT ALL COSTS: ACVOLT ELECTRICAL INC - Incompetence, Property Damage, and Customer Neglect…read more I'm compelled to share my disastrous experience with ACVOLT ELECTRICAL INC (License #1016292) to warn potential customers. What began as a simple A/C replacement in November 2023 turned into a year-long ordeal of equipment failures, property damage, and abysmal customer service. 1. Faulty Installation and Persistent Issues: - New Lennox condenser began leaking within two weeks of installation (11/18/23) - Despite photographic evidence, owner "Manny" dismissed it as "just manufacturer oil" - Leak worsened, spreading to concrete (11/29/23) - Multiple service calls resulted in band-aid solutions - A/C unit frequently froze, leaving us without cooling for days in 100+ degree weather - It took nearly a year (until 10/2/24) to finally get the faulty condenser replaced under manufacturer warranty 2. Severe Property Damage: - During a maintenance visit (7/26/23), the technician used a highly corrosive cleaner - This chemical etched off my concrete sealer, leaving a scab-like appearance - Damage extended to my garage door and wrought iron fence when they carelessly rinsed and splashed the chemical - Immediate complaints were met with empty promises and no action 3. Deceptive and Evasive Customer Service: - Owners Manny and Mario repeatedly cited nebulous "corporate" approvals for repairs - Promised fixes were continually delayed or never materialized - After weeks of follow-ups, they provided contact for a supposed "sealer company" - This contact (Jose) was unreliable, missed appointments, and never did the work since ACVOLT did not approve the cost of repair. - ACVOLT claimed to be in communication with Jose but provided no evidence or results 4. Lack of Accountability: - After months and months of run-around, they suggested I file an insurance claim - "Corporate" reception doesn't have license or insurance information to provide when requested. - Continually shifted responsibility, making it impossible to get a straight answer 5. Suspicious Business Practices: - Reception refuses to provide license or insurance information - Owners play "good cop, bad cop," switching primary contacts when complaints escalate - Upsold maintenance plan that did nothing to address core issues 6. Ongoing Damage and Neglect: - As of October 2024, nearly a year after the initial property damage, no repairs have been made - Multiple promises of resolution have been broken - Property damage remains unaddressed, potentially worsening over time In summary, ACVOLT ELECTRICAL INC has demonstrated a shocking lack of professionalism, technical competence, and basic customer care. They've left me with damaged property, wasted time, and the stress of dealing with their incompetence for an entire year. Their pattern of behavior suggests either gross negligence or intentional deception. If you value your property, time, and peace of mind, avoid this company at all costs. The headache and potential financial loss are simply not worth the risk.

That's where it ended. I was given a 3 hour window for their arrival. I have tenants and they were going to be in and out so I waited at my home for the technician to call and say that they were on the way, so I could head over. I sat for hours waiting and when the window was almost over, the technician called and said he was stopping for lunch. I certainly don't want to deny someone food when they're hungry, but this caused him to finally show up :40 past the end of the window, which messed up the rest of my afternoon work obligations. He performed the test quickly and then said he was going to his truck to get my paperwork and would be back in :10. He was gone for almost :30. He asked my preference for dates for them to schedule the final inspection with the city. He said someone from their office would call to let me know the date and time range. That never happened. I called their office TWICE and after being on hold for :10 both times, it went to voicemail. I left voicemails with very specific info but no one ever called back. I had to troll around the city website and finally found my address listed with an appointment for the following day. Good thing I searched. Absolutely zero instructions or time specifics and while I realize this was a city thing, iPermit were the ones who should have provided me the specifics. Run, don't walk away from this company, if given a choice.
