It's so loud, having conversations with my workout buddy or other members, is nearly impossible without having to get in each others face and talk really loud! So, I, along with other members, have gone to the front desk numerous times to complain. The desk personnel say, "we aren't allowed to adjust the music. The store manager has no say in this matter, either. The regional manager tells us to leave the volume where it is." Next move was to speak with the "regional manager." He was pointed out to me by one of the employees so I walked up, introduced myself and said, "Why is the house music played at such a high level?" He replied, "well, we like it loud." (REALLY? WHO'S WE???) I came back with, "can you please turn it down a bit? It's too loud. It's hard to have a conversation with friends and quite frankly, the music is terrible. Look around, every person in here is wearing ear buds or headphones listening to their own music; they're not listening to the PA system." I continued, "I don't like having to wear buds or headphones and hate having to lug my phone around while working out, but I'm forced to wear them to try and drown out the music in here. And I'd like to add, I have to crank up my "noise-canceling" ear buds so loud, it's painful and the house music still bleeds thru. It's like a "battle of the bands" in my ears. He replied, "well, maybe we'll take a look at it." End of conversation. Since talking with him, he surely "took a look at it." It's louder now than it was before. I'm seriously thinking about finding another gym. Yes, it's THAT bad. p.s. There are other issues, too but I'll leave those for another time. Hopefully LA Fitness corporate will do something about this matter.

I love My Personal Trainer in Westlake! I was out of shape and had no energy when I decided to…read morestart exercising in June 2016. I liked the personal attention that made me want to go there twice a week. I rarely miss a session. My balance and stamina have improved. I've been inspired to start watching what I eat and have lost over 30 pounds since starting the program! Thanks to Dan, Sarah and the rest of the team I've been able to stick to the program and look forward to continuing in the future.

Three months ago when I started at MTP in Westlake I was very skeptical that a 2 day-a-week workout…read moreroutine could make a big difference in my life, and certainly not in a short amount of time. A little about why I chose MPT... I have severe arthritis in my knees and had been pretty sedentary for a couple years because of the pain. After seeing an orthopedic surgeon and going through a couple rounds of injections (cortisone and synvisc), the only thing that I really found helpful was physical therapy. At 53 I was told that I was too young for knee replacements. When my PT sessions were coming to an end, I was looking for a good transition from that. My knees were weak, and I needed strength training. After looking online at a lot of different gyms and reading reviews, I settled on MPT, mainly because of its intimate atmosphere. I really like the appointment-based setting - knowing I have somewhere to be and someone who is expecting me is motivating. There are never more than 4 or 5 other people (including the trainers) there at my appointment time, so I never feel self conscious or rushed. All the trainers at MPT in Westlake are awesome! Dan is the manager, and he came up with a great routine to start out with - with the focus on getting my knees stronger, but staying low impact so I wouldn't injure myself. Sarah, Audri and Evan are so kind, knowledgeable and encouraging. The best part of all of this is that as my knees, hips and whole body is getting stronger, the pain in my knees is dramatically reduced! My stamina has improved so much - I can carry a heavy laundry basket now without my arms getting tired, and I can carry it up two flights of stairs with ease! Everyday tasks are easier now. I'm sleeping better, and even though I am wasn't terribly overweight (I wanted to lose between 15-20 lbs), I have lost a few and it hasn't come back, even if I'm "bad" on a weekend. Even though I've only lost 5 lbs, my body is changing and my clothes are fitting better! It's worth mentioning that I was already conscious that my food portions and calorie intake needed some modification. So before I started at MPT I had decreased my portions and was using an app to make sure I wasn't taking in too many calories. All the trainers at MPT are experienced and well-versed in that as well. Price... With my high deductible insurance plan I was paying about $150 per (give or take, depending on what level they coded it as) Physical Therapy session. I asked what it would be if I wanted to continue out-of-pocket (because my insurance only covered 12 sessions). To continue physical therapy would have been between $75 and $150 per SESSION, depending on how much time I spent there. In contrast, I'm paying MPT about $20 a session (with the package I chose). Like other places, they run specials and if you pay up front (which I did - I chose a 1 year package) you get a break. I could have gotten a bigger break if I had chosen a different package. Try not to get bogged down in all of that - they're a business and they have to make money. It's so worth it!
