Since coming to Tucson 4 years ago, Tito & Pep has been on my list and after finally trying it, it did not disappoint! We made a reservation well in advance and even then there were limited time options. The atmosphere of the restaurant is slightly upscale while still being cozy. I love all the plants! Our server was very knowledgeable and was able to give several recommendations. We ordered the grilled and chilled beets and the steak skewers for appetizers. The beets and everything that came with them was very fresh! I love anything with pickled onions. The steak appetizer was excellent and my dad could not stop talking about them. Next, I ordered the swordfish special and my dad got the pork chop. Everything was cooked to perfection and flavor was everywhere! For dessert we split the dark chocolate ganache. The ganache was very rich but paired wonderfully with the whipped cream and other flavors. I don't drink, but my dad also loved the cocktails he ordered! I brought someone who hadn't been here yet despite being a self-declared foodie and living in Tucson for 3 years (whaaat)! Suffice to say she absolutely raved - placing it on par with many of the Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants she has sampled back east. And, we agreed, when Michelin publishes its first-ever SouthWest U.S. edition later this year (2026) if Tito/Pep does not at least make its S.W. "Bib" list I will know the fix is in! We started with the Queso Fundido ($13) - chewy cheese, sauteed mushrooms, and beef chorizo - it was a perfect blend of meaty/savory/fatty. We also ordered the Grilled Octopus ($17). What a surprise this was, the crunchy roasted pepper flakes and unusually soft grilled octopus it kicked the pants off of "calamari-style." We inquired and the way they remove the typical rubberiness is by poaching the octopus tentacles for 5(!) hours before grilling. You Go chef Martinez! For our entree we opted for the day's special: deep fried whole Red Snapper for two ($85)... as did about a half-dozen other tables in this intimate 20-tabled venue. See pics as a written description is inadequate. The crisp was excellent and the tender moist fish just beneath, exquisite. The roasted jalapenos were other worldly - somehow only mild heat and with a subtle sweet/acid presence... totally and entirely edible. As fantastic as the vinegar slaw was atop our self-made fish tacos, the tomatillo puree was ridiculous - so fresh and not sour that its scent was nearly as strong as its flavor. We asked again, how?! and were told they first cook the tomatillos for 3 hours. Folks, the effort involved to present this kind of meal would be nearly impossible to do at home for even double the cost. We concluded with the ganache dessert ($12). While so richly decadent it was possibly too rich, only by virtue of its size... it needs to be shared! We were deeply torn over that or the olive oil cake and will opt for the latter... next year, Lol. For drinks we ordered two glasses of their "red blend" (really good for a simple blend) and then the Pie Allen after dinner cocktail ($13) - an interesting combination of prickly pear liquor and port. The staff, especially Ms Walker, were amazing - not just in timely attentiveness (a minimum requirement at this level) but especially in terms of being able to field our deep curiosities about several of the dishes. Due to our "layers" of ordering we stayed an easy 2+ hours and were never rushed. Parking will get tight at peak times but everyone will be accommodated. Pre-tip we were at $165 - a special occasion outing for sure but, we both agreed, an (almost) bargain. At this level of quality and degree of effort in Chicago or Miami (places she recently lived) would be closer to $250 for two. Went here for a date night a bit ago and though I wish the menu was a little bit bigger, we did find some tasty things to eat. We ordered the queso and Tito and the steak skewers as appetizers. I really loved the fundito... so flavorful so amazing. The beef skewers however I felt were a little bland though. Our entrées consisted of the Mesquite grilled pork chop and the grilled salmon. Both were solid choices, a good portion, impaired very well with what came on the plate. Overall, a good meal, but I don't know if I have to have it again. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday around 11:15am. Didn't have a reservation, but was seated (near the front door). I'd say pretty much everyone came in with a reservation, and if you can't snag one, swing by around opening. Although tables were open, the number of waitstaff was limited, which is why reservations are highly recommended. Brunch was being served, but I was hoping to try some dinner items. The hostess said she could see what they had prepped in the kitchen, and I ordered based on what was available... Grilled octopus $17 - tender octopus with cubes of avocado, cilantro, red onion, and copious amounts of chili oil. The amount of octopus was generous as well. Came with half a lime, but felt like there could have been more acidity in the dish to compete with the sheer amount of oil (or less chili oil bc it aggressively coats the tongue). NY Strip $33 - another generous quantity of food. I asked for medium rare, came more medium, a tad on the cold side. Didn't come with charro beans, likely due to prep. Looked a bit sloppily put together (splattered sauce), but the flavors were there. Whole charred scallions gave some smokiness to each bite. There were some grilled and peeled (poblano) peppers, but not sure this added to the flavor/texture positively. Buttermilk Panna Cotta 10000/10 - Seriously insane, the tartness of the passionfruit syrup + fresh berries + delicate and tender panna cotta was amazing. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it ! Worth a stop for a nice date, generous portions, but most definitely worth visiting if just for the buttermilk panna cotta. Extremely friendly staff, and nice ambiance. My guy and I came here just for some appetizers and we honestly wish we had stayed for a full meal. This place definitely deserves to be on Yelp's Top 100! I started with the Valentina cocktail, which was beautiful, refreshing, and tasty without being overly sweet. It was soo good, my guy ended up getting one for himself as well. Foodwise, we got the Grilled Octopus and the Hamachi Aguachile. It was a bit of a weird taste profile having both of them at the same time, but each was exquisite in its self. The aguachile was light and refreshing. The fish melted in our mouths and was such nice quality. The octopus had a heavier flavor to it, but everything in the dish worked perfect together and it was cooked beautifully. It had a nice amount of heat to it, too. I ordered the Crunchy Señorita and it was not a good dish. It was lacking of freshness and flavor. It was bad enough it made me think they should probably just take it off their menu completely so as not to tarnish their rep as a great restaurant...The other stuff from brunch that we got were actually good though like the charred broccoli, and the warm pastries...but the actual brunch dishes were not so delicious. The tables are well spaced and it is quiet enough to have a nice conversation. Tito & Pep had a good size crowd and positive vibe. The wait staff was helpful in explaining the menu layout and providing us great recommendations and service. We selected several small plates but could not forgo the Jerk Rubbed pork chop. The queso fundido with mushrooms, beef chorizo, bubbling hot cheese with flour tortillas was tasty and a flavor bomb. Really good! The hamachi aguachile with watermelon, chiltepin, tamari, jicama slices, and purple daikon was lacking flavor and was unremarkable. Crispy salt and pepper calimari with pickled onions, fried garlic, fried jalapenos and maggi aioli was crispy and flavor filled. Little gem salad with radicchio, snap peas, pepita crisp, lemon-soy vinegarette and manchego was tasteless, a real disappointment. Our final selection was the jerk rubbed pork chop with corn pudding, papaya-ginger jam and collard slaw was impressive, savory and moist. The food was hit and miss with exceptional hits on the fundido, calimari and pork chops. I would recommend Tito & Pep to friends, but feel that certain choices need flavor refinement. We dined here before attending a concert at the Fox (10 Feb 2026). I ordered the grilled salmon (w/ roasted pumpkin puree, ancho chile dashi, crispy savory salad) while my partner had the radicchio & little gem salad (w/ snap peas, radish, manchego, pepita crisp, lemon-soy vinaigrette). Hadn't been to this restaurant in quite awhile, despite the fact that I've always enjoyed it. Now I'm thinking I should make sure to get back to Tito & Pep more often (I actually told my friend I wanted to go monthly :0). We arrived at opening time due to the fact that we had a show to attend at 7, so were seated very quickly. Loved the table we got--had never been seated in one of the few booths there, and I found it very comfortable and private. Jess was a great server; greeted us quickly and asked if we wanted to order drinks, acknowledging that she understood if we didn't, because we'd not had time to look at the menu. After that, she, and other staff, were very attentive. Wine and beer lists are good--not being fans of drinking wine from tumblers (which we remembered they use), my friend and I asked for stemmed glasses, and they obliged. Salads were delicious: my friend ordered the green salad, and my husband and I shared the radicchio and gem lettuces salad. Both were extraordinary (not kidding). The radicchio salad was full of flavor bombs: it had a surprising and delicious kick to it, tidbits of pipitas, tasty snap peas...and was topped with fried garlic bits. The soy dressing was light -- not overpowering as some soy dressings can be. We had them hold the manchego cheese...another potentially delicious addition. Everyone enjoyed their dinners, too: one salmon, one trout and my dish was the special: a really delicious sea bass. We were all full...but shared the pana cotta dessert. Had a wonderful late dinner at Tito & Pep! My group of three made a last minute reservation on a Monday and were able to secure an 8:30 PM slot. We arrived early and were greeted and seated right away. Our server came out shortly after to take our drink orders. I opted for "The Floor is Guava," a mezcal and guava cocktail with triple sec and lime. It was refreshing and well balanced. Then tried the following: Crispy calamari Radicchio & little gem salad (half portion) Grilled octopus Dark chocolate ganache Buttermilk panna cotta Everything was excellent, from start to finish! The food had lots of textures and flavors. For my "main" entree, I opted for the grilled octopus as well as a half portion of the radicchio & little gem salad. They were exactly what I needed. The atmosphere is classy and elegant, but not so upscale that you feel like you need to dress up--perfect balance. The drink menu is surprisingly vast, with something for everyone. If you're going with a group, plan on ordering multiple dishes and sharing family-style. We had four people in our group and enjoyed every single dish we ordered--there wasn't a miss on the menu. Tito and Pep is one of our top choices for a special dinner, whether it be to celebrate an anniversary, birthday, or graduation. The menu is simple but changes seasonally for some items, while some are standards that seem to always be on the menu. At this point I have tried most of the dishes on the menu, and have a few favorites. The calamari is excellent, super flavorful and perfectly fried. The vegetable (rotates) is always great, right now they have a roasted carrot in a lovely sauce with labneh and pepitas and pomegranates- unique and delicious! I always order the octopus and it is the best I've ever had, every time. My partner usually gets the steak skewers and loves those too. You can't go wrong with the main entrees, this time we shared the salmon on puréed pumpkin which was lovely. I will say the only dish that falls flat for me is the vegan posole, which is woefully under seasoned and bland for posole. The desserts are great, especially the decadent chocolate ganache and the lighter panna cotta. The ambiance is perfect for special occasions with the nice lighting and live plants everywhere. The service is fine, sometimes the waitstaff seem a little brusque and slightly unfriendly, but maybe that's part of the vibe. As much as my daughter and I enjoyed everything we've eaten, we truly wanted to change things up during our short trip with other food options. In comes Tito & Pep on E. Speedway Blvd in Midtown Tucson. Tito & P. showcase wonderful flavors- but that's not all. Chef and owner John Martínez has a diverse menu that includes radicchio, roasted squash, grilled broccoli, stripe bass, and other ingredients that take center stage. The restaurant's mod style creates a welcoming atmosphere from beginning to end blending plants, almost white-washed walls and polished concrete floors. Because my kid and I didn't have a res., we were seated at the bar- and since eating at the bar is (almost) the best seat in the house, it actually worked out flawlessly. Plus Tito & P's bar counter is a smooth flat-top without that huge lip on the edge making you hunch your shoulders up. You know which ones. Not here. Our bartender was smooth and patient (maybe a bit too patient). By the time we'd finished our 2 starters, we waited at least 35 minutes for our main plates. Tito & P's cocktails have incredible ingredients and the type of strength that will creep up on you. Our grilled octopus starter had a juicy sauce medley with avocado chunks and halved cherry tomatoes. Except, the octopus needed less time on the grill. Our other starter had a refreshing mix of paper-thin fennel and onions added to our grilled broccoli on a creamy sauce- which I didn't mind too much and tried eating around it. Our main dishes were totally elite level. My kid loved her grilled salmon hooked up with Brussels sprout+pistachios+salsa verde. And my Striped Bass with a chimichurri sauce was another stand out. The staffs were friendly. The foods were amazing. The price was reasonable because the dishes looked like it came out of a 5-star restaurant's kitchen. I came to the restaurant 2 days in a row, but didn't get a seat the first day because I was there close to their closing time. The staff at the entrance still told me to wait and she will seat me in 30 minutes, but I couldn't wait. The restaurants seem to be always busy because it's good! No matter how busy it was, the staffs were really efficient and did their parts flawlessly. My glass never ran out of water -- a staff was always there to top it off! This place... Diamond in the tough. It's an unassuming storefront serving up seriously gourmet creative culinary masterpieces. This chef has a knack for flavor combinations . The food is fresh, imaginative and delicious. The drinks fabulous and the service exceptionally personal. Charley made us feel like we were old friends and as though we were the only people in sight. Of course, I'm certain that the other tables felt that charm equally. The whole staff was great and the meals timed perfectly. Do not leave this restaurant without ordering dessert. Parking is kind of tight but worry not... the food more than makes up for any urban parking angst once you step through the door. We arrived right at 5 for dinner and accepted seats at the bar. Our bartender turned out to be a great waitress with the perfect amount of touch. We split the beet salad and the NY strip steak. The salad presentation was excellent and the touch of bleu cheese played well against the beet varieties. The steak was cooked medium rare - exactly to order. The accompanying salsa sauce was truly delectable. We finished with the pannacotta which, like our meal, was superbly executed with a brilliant tartness that was both refreshing and creamy. If I could give 6 stars I would. One of the best meals I've had anywhere and certainly the best food we had during our weeklong stay in Tucson. From the drinks to the entrees and dessert everything was fantastic. Easily the best salmon entree I've ever had. Our service was excellent throughout the night. I ordered a beer that wasn't what I expected and they not only apologized but promptly removed it from the bill, offered a replacement and even went so far as to say they will change the description on the menu to avoid confusion in the future. I know many people love Tito and Pep, and I am writing this carefully, knowing many people work hard to keep a restaurant going. Our service was great last Saturday but the food has consistently been bland and overpriced. The beet salad with pistachios, for example came out as one small piece of beet on a radicchio leaf with a dust of pistachio on it. The food was so poor we left and went to another restaurant for dessert. We have had several meals like this, and won't be coming back. Service was spotty, not as awesome as it was 5 months ago, yet the support staff was on point, attentive and felt like they belonged at a Michelin restaurant. Hostess was wearing an oversized sweater with a mini-skirt (I think it was a mini-skirt, actually hard to tell) and looked sloppy as hell. Wow! I got to try this while visiting family today as my last place before leaving. It was amazing. Parking was easy for us as we parked right in front. I called 20 min prior and they were able to accommodate us which was huge because we had a party of 8 with 4 kids. The service from start to finish was excellent and so friendly and warm.
