Ugh, I had a crappy experience at this TJ Maxx and I generally LOVE TJ Maxx. I am sure it won't keep me from going back, but nevertheless, I won't make a special trip to go back soon. I found a lovely floral arrangement and an entry-way table during a recent visit. Since I had such a large purchase, I decided to sign up for the credit card to get the 10% off. AHGHGHAHH!!!! Huge mistake! While I was checking out, I realized that there was a crack in the table (significant damage) and the table wasn't that cheap to begin with. There went half my "sizeable" purchase. I am generally anti-department store credit cards, so I would have never signed up for this if I wasn't going for the 10% off. Well, the cashier had already started on my application or I would have just told her to forget it. Poor girl couldn't type and reading seemed like a major effort. Apparently, she had never processed a credit application before. She was constantly turning around to some type of manager and asking her what to do next. Well, instead of the manager just coming over and showing her, my transaction took so long - I just wanted to leave the damn floral and forget all of it. Except I wasn't confident these people would know to CANCEL the credit card and I had already handed over all my information (SS#, etc). I didn't trust them enough, so I had to stay there and ride out the pain. While I was standing there, I saw an associate put the damaged table BACK UP ON DISPLAY. Now, some other idiot can look up at it and can't tell it's damaged until they get it down to pay for it. Crap like that drives me nuts. It wastes customers' time and energy.(which I have no abundance of either one!). I am being generous with two stars because I realize this was an exceptional circumstance, but this whole mess involved three different associates (girl who couldn't do the application, manager who wouldn't help with application and associate who stuck the damn table back upon display without marking it damaged!). I ended up saving $5 and left w/ more wrinkles in my forehead - completely NOT worth it. However, I do love the floral, but I should since it was SO painful to actually purchase! Poor form TJ Maxx!

I love the "different/world" section in the home section that's right in the middle.

I'm redacting a name of a family member for safety reasons so she will be named S throughout the post. Why? They treat their employees TERRIBLY. Their turnover wages is HIGH and apparently worse than Walmart. The management also reeks of favoritism and discrimination. First. They lie about wages. First example of evidence: they outright told S that she was getting AT LEAST $15/hour for her loss prevention position AT THE INTERVIEW. She found out later that they got her down for $11.50/hour which is basically the starting rate for entry level sales/cashier. Ross also expects loss prevention personnel to do merchandise clean up and sales floor tidying up - so they are basically glorified salespeople doing two jobs for $11.50/hr. Second, they hired her at a full time position. But they worked her part-time hours. Not full time hours. Third. She got wrote up for not having "commanding presence" basically two days AFTER another supervisor COMMENDED her for having "commanding presence" as a loss prevention employee. S literally followed company policy to the letter. She has years of experience in security, loss prevention, and private investigative services. So she knows her stuff. Ross has a very weak company policy that you are basically not allowed to talk to customers or even follow them to make sure they are not stealing, except loudly say "hello, welcome to Ross" at every breathing human being that walks through the doors and watch the doors and cashier points. If a customer is stealing, loss prevention can't accuse a customer of stealing, they instead have to radio management to report it. Fourth. She got told to bring her I-9 information in AGAIN, after she gave all of her paperwork information when she first started or she would be fired. She did that, and well, guess what, her login information somehow is not working and I had to access her email from home and the access code that they gave in her email was defective, and resulted in a locked account. So now it looks like S is out of a job and now she's looking for work. Also, Ross' management doesn't even communicate with each other at all. Like at all. There's so much miscommunication and the place is poorly run. And Ross' management is incredibly unprofessional. I called the other day, trying to get an interview as part of my investigation into them to see if they were suitable, and I told my videophone interpreter to not tell them that I'm deaf, and they f*cking hung up on me when I kindly asked them for an interview. I was literally going to investigate into the pay and everything. How unprofessional of them. Don't work or shop at Ross and instead go shop at Burlingtons, Tjmaxx, or somewhere else that's not Ross Dress for Less.

I took my mom…read morein to the store today in Fayetteville and she is visiting from Utah, thinking that this was a store with good values and a positive message. She spent a good amount of money there, but when looking at the receipt while I was checking out at the register with my items, she realized that she accidentally bought a shirt that she meant to put back because it didn't fit her. I explained to the "manager" Stephanie that an honest mistake just happened, we hadn't even left the store and she just left the counter, she only just bought the item. Stephanie quickly started raising her voice saying that there is absolutely no refunds she can only do exchanges and that we should have read the sign and there were no exceptions and that she should have looked at her purchase before she paid for it. When I said she literally just made the purchase she rolled her eyes looked at the other employee sighing and was giving me this blank emotionless expression like "and your point is"... she started to tell me that it wasn't even my purchase so I shouldn't be in the argument, but it was my mother's purchase and being a paying customer I am absolutely going to stand by my mother. I told her I didn't like her tone and she started yelling at me being condescending and saying no you just don't like what I am telling you. She was yelling at me to where all the customers in the store were watching what was happening. I asked to speak with the manager she said I am the manager so I asked for her managers number. She just hands me a card with an email address on it, I said this is not the managers number, she said that she wasn't going to give me the managers number. I am completely disappointed and upset with our experience and Stephanie needs to learn customer service skills and in my opinion should not be in customer service because if she is treating us like that she is treating everyone that way. I understand a no refund policy but cmon she literally just left the register it's not as if we went home and then came back she only just bought the item 30 seconds before. It was completely out of line for Stephanie to treat us with utter disrespect and loud attitude and she will never get my business. I am awaiting a response from the manager to which I sent an email.
