Ok, this has to be my favorite TJ MAX so far!!! This is a small store compared with other locations. I loved it, their products were great, and at the wonderful prices, we are used to. Had a unusual awful experience here yesterday between one (for lack of better way to describe) heavier set woman, frantically reorganizing the perfume case following right behind me dropping perfumes and reaching over my head and bumping into me repeatedly with no excuse me or sorry almost rushing me out of the isle . to going into the next isle browsing the body washes and lotions, and a black older lady who reeked of either body odor or marijuana "Marlene "I believe was her name asking me if I needed help and I smiled responded with "oh no I'm okay " and she responded with a dirty look and said loudly" ok because you're over here opening everything up over here and in the the other isle, you can't open ! " then huffed & rolled her eyes then walked away ... I reminded her that all the scented body care is already unsealed and is quite literally only meant to be smelled and browsed before buying... she then just stood at the end of the isle talking to herself ... If this wasn't my Neighborhood store that I very frequently visit I definitely would have just left my items there in isle and left. but being that I come here so often and never had a bad experience I continued with my shopping .management definitely needs to review and provide better training ,this third world hostility and lack of common sense and self awareness will detour all the locals and bring in the wrong crowd .you're better off going to the river landing tj max right over the bridge ,huge store with a much bigger selection and 5 stories of amazing department shopping read more

I found a sweater marked $49.99. I went to pay. The girl disappeared for a while, returned told me my total which I said had to be wrong as I had 3 items two for $50 and one for $25. She said "Oh the sweater was wrongly marked Instead of $49.99 it was $100." Not my problem! I told her they should honour the price marked. They refused. The manager a Kathy C offered me 10% off of $100. I asked her to please hold the item till tomorrow after I had a chance to call the head office as in the past if a store made a mistake labeling a price, they always honored the marked price. She flatly refused Saying they were not allowed to hold items. I said this is different....she would not budge. I have spent literally thousands of dollars in this shop, never had a problem till today. Extremely disappointing since I have shopped here since the very day they opened. It is a crying shame that Dora who was the first manager here was moved to a different location She was always extremely helpful and efficient and even called customers telling them to come shop as there were lots of fabulous new arrivals. She has unfortunately been replaced with rigid robot like moron sorely lacking in gray matter, initiative and civility. I will call the head office tomorrow however am not Holding my breath. read more

THE WORST! lost count of how many times I've picked something and ended up giving up while waiting in line for 40-50 mins, 8 spots and only 2 cashiers open seems to be the rule. Last time I was in line, I counted six employees chatting around the cashiers, while 2 were actually working; when one of them decided to go on break, leaving one person for at least 20 people in line; I was next to go, otherwise I would have left the merchandise behind. Also aggravating, the fact that you have to get on the endless queue for a quick return. I'm officially done trying this TJ Maxx, taking my business elsewhere. Horrible managed store. The store selection is decent. The service leaves much to be desired. The store was not busy at all, yet the shopping process took so much longer than it needed to. You had to undergo a full on interrogation to enter and exit the changing rooms and the checkout line felt like watching paint dry. read more

Stood in line for almost 40 mins to pay. People were leaving and just dropping their things in the line. I asked for more cashiers as I noticed only two people working with the line literally going out the door. There were other cashiers hanging up clothes instead of checking people out. When I finally made it to check out, I was shamed by a cashier that was speaking about me "complaining" and that "life was short" simply because I asked for more cashiers as everyone had been standing there for way too long. I then spoke to the manager and his response that made it clear to me where the attitude of his employees came from. I am a local and will absolutely NOT be back to be disrespected and shamed in this manner. Completely inappropriate and a complete disregard for customer service or anyone else's time. This is a great store with Off the Runway items I have never seen at any other TJ Maxx. I mean Ferragamo shoes, Longchamps bags, Tory Burch dresses... Only problem is that the AC has been broken for over two weeks and management does not fix it. So you really do not want to try anything on or linger. Especially now when we are having a record heat wave in Miami and they expect buyers to put up with that?! They obviously do not care about their employees either because how can you expect the employees to want to help you when they're sweating bullets?! read more

This is a very nice and has a pretty good setup. I really love this location because I find to always walk out with something and there is a pretty cool view of Miami's skyline which is awesome to look at when shopping. i also really like that there is a parking garage right in the same building which is a big deal in SoBe since parking can be such a hassle. I love the layout of this store, it really makes things easier to find when shopping. I also love that this location gets replenished pretty frequently, it doesn't feel like things have been picked through. If you are in the area and looking for a good shopping experience, def try this T.J Maxx out! read more

T.J. Maxx in South Beach opened yesterday - a boon for downtown shoppers who are tired of lower-tiered Ross and Marshall's. Free parking is a good perk that is appreciated here. There are plenty of good brands to be had here, and that is also appreciated. The store is nicely organized but there are a few problems I already noticed: 1) The checkout aisle is tiny - and there are people who rather peruse the items laid out by the aisle, inhibiting movement. Bigger aisles please, or move the items out of the check out area! 2) Carts cannot go to where the cars are - expect to carry items! 3) At least 51 percent of the population in Miami Beach is male. And in South Beach the percentage is probably higher. That being said... no men's shoes?!?! AT ALL?!?! Seriously... that's just out of whack. 4) Going on with number 3 - the women's department is vastly larger, thanks to the large shoe department being solely for women. It makes 4/5 of the store women-friendly, and 1/5 men-friendly. 5) No scooter parking? This is South Beach... and it irritates drivers to see a tiny scooter taking up a huge parking spot in the garage. 6) What's with some of the doors being locked? The most convenient exit point from the cashier row is locked so I had to go through a door that is more commonly used as an entrance. Seriously, I don't like bumping into people, but I just might have to. Thankfully it's early in its opening - and hopefully they can fix some of those kinks to make the shopping experience a pleasurable one. read more

One of the best if not the best TJMaxx i have been to as far as organization goes, inventory, and displays...saw a gorgeous fendi bag for about 1200$ didn't know they had high ticket items like that. I love stocking up on yummy candles here, smell great, name brands, and you dont have to over pay like at some other places...Also enjoy the home section, always replace and add new bamboo cutting boards from here, get them here for a steal, sometimes i find a nice frame, and they always have cool, non specific wrapping paper, and name brand hair products. they also have one isle for pet stuff! I had never been to a TJ Maxx till the shopping center of Alton and fifth opened. Now I know what I was missing! I love TJ Maxx. Located on the 5th floor, the store is quite big with clearly organized aisles. It has a great selection of clothes, shoes, handbags, necklaces, ... at great prices! My wallet is always happy to save money! I bought my favorite pair of shoes and a handbag there. My best friend from France also found all her Christmas presents for her family! Designers clothes are finally affordable, the shoes sales section always has good deals. Definitely a store to add to your list for bargain shopping. The parking garage totally won me. Parking in south beach for two free hours while I shop ? Yeah, I'll take it. Sometimes you need a Certain outfit for a specific purpose and TJ Maxx is a consistent lifesaver for those moments. There's a bunch of shops in this strip so even if you have to take the elevator in between shops, it's all accesible. Plus, it's either this or a pricey boutique down the street. They have all types of nice clothes inside and the selection really caters to whatever you need attire for. Sometimes you gotta really search for what you want, but the search is more fine-tuned than that of its rowdy neighbor, Ross. Ok - I know it is the holidays and many of the retail workers are exhausted for the season...but really - this store earned the award for "not caring one bit." This store was a mess, the isles tight and things all over the floor, the workers were rude and they didn't even bother trying to give sales for the season. Ok - about the mess - granted, customers play a part with this part. What goes through the mind of a person who tries on something and then throws it on the floor? However, since it is common that customers are rude about putting things back where they belong - there really needs to be workers assigned to keep the isles neat. When I finally couldn't take maneuvering through the "debris" I stopped my holiday shopping with two items - to then be given a final "don't care if you ever shop here" attitude from the cashier, who snatched the pen out of my hand, threw my items in the bag, threw my bag to the side and said - "next" although I was still standing there putting my wallet away in my purse. Wooo saaaaaa....Yes, my fellow Yelpers...I did immediately share my review with this worker.... I took a deep breath and politely reminded the cashier I was still standing there - her response..."well, we are busy." Right...maybe they (TJ MAXX) should not be so busy...since it clearly annoys the workers. ...well...bahhh humbug to them....I'll give my money to another store in the future. read more

Unlike other TJ Maxx stores where the staff does not give a damn about helping the customer, this TJ Maxx staff is young, hip, quick and friendly. Ok, maybe not the lady behind the jewelry counter who feels a little trapped and confined to one location.. You can park in the mall garage off 5th and Alton and enjoy free parking for 2 hours for free. read more

I've declared this store in a state of emergency. I think it was recently ravaged by a hurricane. Clothes are hung haphazardly on racks that are smushed so close together, you start to feel claustrophobic. The home section is practically devastated - there is more stuff on the floor than on the shelves and a lot of it is broken. Lastly, it seems most of the employees evacuated and have yet to return. Sad. This place was almost awesome when it first opened. read more

Since it's opened this location has been hit or miss. The "Runway" designer section experienced some serious shrinkage shortly after it's debut but I returned recently and was pleasantly surprised to find some true gems -- Jimmy Choos, Vince leather jackets, Frye bags, J. Brand and See by Chloe denim, and a number of truly covetable items. It's nice to see this store get beyond the Nine West, Steve Madden, Jessica Simpson basics and back into Haute territory. read more

I'm a huge fan of T.J. Maxx. I stop into their locations wherever I am. This location on 5th and Alton is just over the MacArthur Causeway, so you're sure to see it on your way into South Beach. I discovered this location years ago while on a vacation to SoBe. I always seem to find something that I don't need, but purchase anyway. This time I actually found something that I need. After cruising the Caribbean for a week without a souvenir, I decided I needed one from T.J. Maxx. I found the most lovely swim cover-up. Now, I cannot wait for summer to come in New Jersey so I can debut my newest acquisition. This store is located on the 5th floor, so you will need to take an elevator to enter. They also offer free parking, but since we didn't rent a car this trip, the hubby and I walked about a mile each way. At least we burned off some of the calories from dinner. read more

While I'm not a fan of the eyesore 5th & Alton shopping-center monstrosity, I must give some serious props to this T.J. Maxx. With a Ross right across the way, I wasn't expecting too much, but I was pleasantly surprised. Great selection of shoes and purses! I probably could've perused that for hours (and no doubt ended up buying much more than I needed). The housewares/kitchen section had a lot more stuff than I expected. The majority of the store is devoted to women's clothes, so that's a plus. They didn't have as many dresses as I'd expected, but I still managed to find plenty that caught my eye. I'll definitely return for more designer goods at off-brand prices. read more

We saw a massive TJ Maxx sign on Miami Beach and though we would walk in because it was starting to rain. Ok, so you have to go the 2nd floor, walk to the middle of the garage and take an elevator up to the store. Weird. When I went in I was shocked. I love TJ Maxx, but this place was a mess and all of the items were messy...it was terrible. A very small TJ Maxx with nothing to offer and a waste of time. The best TJ Maxx ever, my first, is... those of you that have read some of my reviews can guess... in Chicago, on State Street. TJ Maxx down here is closer to Ross than Filene's Basement. However, it is still better than Ross. Welcome, TJ Maxx to the beach. Yay. Convenience. Boo. Can't find a thing usually. No mens dress shirts. No mens shoes. No ties. Sparse cologne and deodorant. I don't normally shop in TJ Maxx but when this opened in South Beach I had to check it out. I love this place they have all designer items also seven jeans, Joe's, Vince, bcbg, and much more for less then half off. Designer jeans you would get in Bloomingdale's for $180 are all between 69.99- 99.99. It is worth it just if you need a pair of jeans. Today I went in looking for clothes ended up coming out with some amazing smelling candles for $4.99 and towels. This place is great !!! Even better you park in the parking garage and get a free 2 hours of parking !! You can't beat free parking ! read more

BUT it is my favorite go to shop for designer brands at LOW prices! It's my little secret. You have to search, but when you find it it's so worth it. A Ralph Lauren pillow for 15$? They got it. A James Perse Tshirt half price? Check. I'm an Actor and go on auditions, and very often need a specific outfit last minute. I had such a horrible experience at this location and I blame it on the store manager, John. We all know the "miami service" but "Johns service," made my blood pressure rise and left me speechless and shaking. What planet is this guy from? Yeah he's a Diva who thinks he's all that but hey buddy wake up and smell the roses your a Store Manager!!! Last week I purchased a wallet and a few bikinis. Came home and noticed the wallet is missing and the security tags were still on my bikinis. So i make a phone call spoke to the helpful and very nice manager (not John) and they located the wallet and told me to ask for a manager when I arrive. 4 days later I enter TJ Max ask for the manager and 10 long minutes later on a slow raining weekday, unprofessional John arrives. In the meantime Laura a cashier was looking for my wallet. John did not say hi, did not introduce himself or even apologize about the wait. I tell him what happened and he rolls his eyes and tells me to come back???Without even looking for my wallet!!! Come back?? Why cause your too lazy to look for it??? No wonder why my security tags are still on my bikini and my wallet wasn't bagged, cause your staff sees how lazy you are! They learn from the best! Then I tell him can't you call the manager I spoke to and ask him where it is? He raised his voice and said, " you want me to call someone, are you serious." By this point I was speechless. But I told him I was walking in the rain to get here and you can't call someone?? Remember its cause of your store I had to comeback. Then he tells me I will just refund you your money. What an incompetent manager! Poor Laura was still looking, I told him "look how easy you give up, Laura is still looking." John grabs the box and throws it on the counter and start throwing stuff around. Smart Laura found the wallet right on the counter next to John. There was a huge note on it. How does the store manager walk past this for four days and not care to read it?? Laura took the situation into her own hands and apologized repeatedly. John kept his back to me and never apologized, nothing. Laura needs a promotion, the too good for life John needs to stay at home because no body anywhere should have to deal with his attitude. FYI I went to Ross after this dilemma and was treated very kindly and I felt appreciated. read more

Gucci handbags, LaRok frocks and Missoni tops are just a few items waiting to be snatched up by frugalistas at the new T.J. Maxx in South Beach. The newbie store has a special section called Runway at Maxx which is stocked with couture labels galore unlike other T.J. MAXXs. According to a sales rep at the locale, there's only a few other locations in Florida with this couture section like one in Palm Beach (as if they need one there) and one in Boca. In need of a holiday outfit or a haute gift, this is a must stop shop. But, beware early birds here score the best goods. I didn't see one Gucci handbag when I was there one evening, but my sis who dropped by in the AM. saw plenty. My buy: a non designer cute plaid fuschia shirt for $12. Def worth going back to again and again especially if you like the beach. read more

I am pleasantly surprised at the fact that I really like this T.J. Maxx! I honestly was not expecting this. They have great selection, it is ORGANIZED - huge pet peeve of mine, and clean. They have really high-end stuff at decent prices, not great though. I was bit thrown off at some of the prices, I don't think I have seen anything that expensive at other comparable stores. I've been here several times, and while they don't always have what I want/need (duh it's a discount store that sells leftovers), and sometimes it's a PRICEY discount store, I will say that I am very thankful for some of the fabulous scores I have found. The changing room is usually clean, there is free parking, my last visit had excellent jewelry, the time before great sunglasses, and the time before that the spa was loaded with discounted items. Sometimes the line to check-out can be quite long - but with a few great finds it is usually worth the wait!!! read more

I LOVE this TJ Maxx. But I'm giving it 3 stars because the music is TERRIBLE!! It seriously makes me want to leave....but the clothes are so good, I just put up with it. If you like listening to Hits from the 90's (i.e. , Green Day, Smashmouth, Sixpence None the Richer), this will be heaven for you. Besides the music, this TJ Maxx is very clean and organized. Staff is friendly too, which is a nice change. read more
