I will start by saying the manager is utterly disrespectful. Her name is Lisa and numerous occasions when I have came here she has had her shift. The disrespect she gives her customers is impeccable. This store has a nice fitting room, but really overwhelming to shop here because it's very unorganized and messy. Very hard to find what you're looking for, takes a long time to shift through and not too many people have the time to do that. I think I found one item around Christmas time here that the other stores weren't carrying and someone grabbed it right away. The customer service is not too great, cashiers up front are not friendly. Everyone seems to be congregating up front, ringing customers, there's nobody on the floor fixing things, or putting merchandise away. I find much better service at the Carle Place location. In comparison, Macy's Backstage is very organized and there's people always on the floor straightening things out. Parking lot is a madhouse no matter what time it is, very hard to find parking. There's tons of deep potholes as you drive in from Marcus Avenue and litter blowing all over the parking lot. What happened to this TJ Maxx? It used to be the best one around at one time, now it's depressing to shop here. read more

I recently went to Tj Maxx and I wanted to use my merchandise credit. The store manager, Sabrina, was giving me a hard time about it due to the fact that my husbands last name was on the card. I am very disappointed in the service I received as I am a frequent shopper there. After the transaction, she then walked off with an attitude and began aggressively fixing the shopping carts. For all the reviews that talk about ridiculously long lines, they are not wrong. I waited probably thirty minutes on the line to check out since there were only two to three associates at the registers. One associate was greeting customers while another sprayed down the shopping carts. They need to hire more associates to work at the registers. This TJ Maxx is your average disorganized outlet store but I enjoy walking around the aisles to see any new items in stock. This location has a great selection of home goods, perfumes, and accessories but not so great in selection of clothing and shoes. read more

If you've ever needed a last minute gift or have been in search of a cheap piece of clothing, then TJ Maxx is the place for you. I've been frequenting this New Hyde Park location on and off for many years and it has definitely helped at filling those needs. Though at the same time, you're often rolling the dice of luck in what you might find. For instance, two trips ago was a combo of hits and misses. I needed a pair of sweat pants and figured this would be a quality spot to locate one. Rummaging through the racks of clothes is truly a safari. Sizes are out of place and brands are mixed together. But that's what you're getting here. I did come across one pair that fit well (after trying on 10 others) and the price was reasonable. For the most part, prices are reasonable throughout the store. It's the "adventure" of finding items that's not so reasonable. My last trip this past Sunday was to hunt down some small gifts for a few coworkers. The place was more ransacked than usual with clothes on the floor and bins filled with random items sitting in aisles. Honestly, that's a usual occurrence, but the holidays emphasized this. Beyond that, many items can be semi-broken, or when finding food, expired. It adds a little frustration to your search. If you do find something (I ended up with an emoji coffee mug), it'll be worthy of purchase for the price, but when the line is twenty people deep (as it perpetually is), it makes you question whether that purchase is truly worth the wait. I went for it, but have walked out in the past due to time constraints. Overall, TJ Maxx will never have the same things on two consecutive visits and that's part of its charm. It's the true "box of chocolates" kind of store, though often those candies are probably stale. It's worthy of a visit now and then to search for something unique, but you'll probably walk out empty handed more times than not. read more

I am surprise to read so many negative reviews . I was there the other day first time at this this tj max. My experience was outstanding in all areas. The staff were very friendly. No long line they had like six cashiers everything was well organized . items were easily to find. tops and pants were all together . Etc . The cashier did an outstanding job. TjMaxx can be a hit or miss. I think it depends on the demographic of the area the store is in. Inventory seems to vary depending on where you are. I actually bought a cute French Connection purse here for $25, original price around $90 or so. They had a decent selection of Kate spade and Michael Kors bags here as well. They also had some Tory Burch watches in the jewelry section. They were still going for about $200 though. read more

This TJ Maxx shopping experience was great! This and the other stores can be really hit or miss but today it was a hit. I just wish that they had more than 3 registers open the line felt it was taking forever. The store definitely needs some TLC organizing the racks. Some of the clothes had rips or things missing. The dressing rooms were well organized and did not have tons of clothes and hangers everywhere. lastly for some reason the store alarm kept going off whenever someone would enter or leave the store. AVOID. Unless you are trying to escape real life and don't mind wasting time, avoid. I've attempted to buy items from this store THREE times, and aborted the ridiculously long line all three times. If they are busy, and are appropriately staffed, I get it. The issue is there is only ever 2-3 staff assigned to check out so the line is perpetually LOOOOOOOONG. I'm talking 30 minutes of waiting to buy those oven mits and fake flowers long. Today is the last time this TJMaxx draws me in, only to disappoint me. This Tj Maxx at New Hyde Park is inefficiently run and puts people at risk for COVID. There were over 80 people on line but only ONE cash register open. Most people could not be socially distanced due to the small space on the line. I waited on line before noon on a Tuesday for over 25 minutes and I was still not half way through the line. Eventually I had to drop everything I had because I had to go somewhere urgent. A lot of people on line also left too due to the wait. Imagine how much money this department store is losing because of this inefficiency. Why have a huge department store if you're going to have one person checking out a line of 80-100 people? I felt bad for everyone checking out items to buy to know they're in store to wait another 1 hour to pay. read more

TJ Maxx, asks me if I'm a Maxxinista. My answer: sometimes. While I like the store and it has good deals at times, I'm not overly thrilled with the overall feeling I get when walking into the store. Everything feels up-heaved and slightly out of place. Especially walking to the home goods aisles where gizmos are plopped anywhere and it lacks any kind of structure. A lot of the food-related items are often open or damaged and for TJ Maxx to blatantly leave an open item, which has half the stuff stolen anyway, out in view is very jarring to me for some reason. The store could use some more organization, and they've definitely made strides in their shoes department to straighten it out. The area with the racks of clothes can also be straightened out a bit more too, actually, just give more space between the racks, otherwise you can barely fit and look at the clothes. I do like their register system where it is announced when a cashier is open. Coming off on the no-space between racks I think there could be more space between the space you have to stand and the divider. It's tough having people squeeze by with carts and large bags. read more

I love my home decor it makes me happy to have a beautiful home and tj maxx helps me accomplish that goal. The only problem i have with this store is some products they try to sell is damaged. I just left this store and I'm have to say that customer service is terrible. They had a table with 50% off of all Xmas items. I went to purchase a Xmas box that was in the 50% off table, and the cashier said that they were not on sale, however there were more of the same boxes on the table. She did attempt to check the table, and came back and said no it was not on sale. When the cashier Sova was trying to get the managers Charles attention he ignore her and didn't even come to her to see what was going on all he did was waved to her and said no he did not ask me what happened. I am updating my review, they have the line moving better. I like their selection and had a few minutes to spare, so I tried again. This time the line goes beyond the wrap around area (you swirl back and forth going nowhere) and is now pouring out into the clothing section, I turn to leave then hear the intercom saying all cashiers to the front. They hustled - had 5 cashiers and the wait to pay was shortened very fast, I appreciate the effort. Got a cute dress too. They have significantly improved their customer service and focus! This place is filled with miserable people everyone wants to leave this place or don't want to be there. The woman in the fitting room was nice and another older woman in the men's section. One girl was too busy talking on her cell phone to move for customers to see merchandise. Another was saying how much she hates her job and the people in the store that make a mess she has to force a smile all the time and she's sick of it. The woman at the register was too impatient to ring up my other items while I went to grab another pair of pants because the ones I had looked as if someone had dragged the bottoms in gravel. This is a TJ Maxx for serious TJ Maxx shoppers. Half of the customers in the store can tell you exactly when the next truck shipment is due and they lay in wait for the introduction of said shipments to the floor. So, we know what this means in the negatives: the good stuff is scooped up right away and everything gets broken really quickly. And that's what leads directly to the positives: things go on sale quickly here and you can absolutely negotiate down on anything with a defect when it hasn't gone on sale yet. Beauty products that have been opened, three-piece sets that are missing pieces, everything is fair game here and it all gets picked through and opened very quickly. (Go to Port Wash. Home Goods if you need something you don't want other people to have touched, like food.) So, be aware that the customer service/returns line will occasionally be way longer than the new purchases line. At least they have the nifty "Please proceed to register ##" contraption now, making it clear where to go. This location is always incredibly messy if you come any time after noon. This means someone may have covered up something awesome with something crappy, so you have to be prepared to dig here. Especially excellent sections: shoes, wall hangings, toys. Avoid: all clothing except men's shirts and underwear; the rest should only be tackled when you're looking for nothing in particular and don't mind rubbing elbows with cranky, pushy people. read more

This review is based solely on the women's clothing . Cannot believe the assortment of cheap clothing this place sells . Half of the clothes that I tried on were missing buttons , had holes in it or were missing accessories such as pull strings and belts . Not to mention the fitting rooms do not have mirrors inside each dressing room and you have to keep going out to one main mirror situated in the center of the fitting room to see how each item fits. i ran in there to find a pair of shoes and see if I could find some cologne (something that was decent ) at a reasonable price. It's hard to find anything, shoe's are scattered all about the shoe section. The sizes are not paired up correctly and to add insult to injury the hardly have any selection at all. The cologne was even worse, of the small selection they had, nothing was priced so I had to wait forever just to ask the girl if she could tell me. Not a pleasant shopping experience. I was going to purchase a swimsuit when I noticed that the original price tag - from the manufacturer of the swimsuit was $27.99 HOWEVER the TJMaxx price tag was $39.99. A $12.00 difference which is a lot considering that consumers are supposed to get a lower price shopping at TJMaxx. I spoke with a salesperson who said that it must be an error and to speak to the manger, Sajee, which I did and he said that the original price has nothing to do with TJMaxx's prices on the items sold here. Lines are wayyyyyy too long but I can still sift through the goods to find a good deal. The best time to go to this store is when they OPEN. I repeat "WHEN THEY OPEN", as there are no lines at all & the store is clean as a whistle. Around 11am the entire New Hyde Park & Lake Success is in this store. I am not kidding at all. You would think they are giving something away for free. The lines get worse after 5pm. I went to this store today as I like shopping from TJ Maxx. It's a nice store with many variety. However, the customer service was HORRIBLE and I would like to describe this incident. I bought work shoes (I broke my heels I was wearing today) along with few clothing items and was looking for an associate to help me find a new pair of shoes in stock as the one on display was damaged from toe. My feet are very narrow, so it's hard to find the right fit for me. To my dismay, I couldn't find anyone and waited in line for 20 minutes to check out. Upon handing over the items to the counter rep (she was nice) I asked her if they had new pair of shoes in stock. She took a look, acknowledged that they were damaged, said-no other items are in stock but just on display, nodded and took it to her manager. Her manger came after a minute and responded back to me in a very "curt" and "rude tone" - "I'm giving you $5 discount (for a $50 shoe) and doing a "courtesy" on you although I don't see any damage even in the broad daylight". I was taken aback since that was not the answer I expected. * Firstly, I did not ask for any discount * Secondly, the shoe was DAMAGED. Take a look again ! your register rep acknowledge before she brought it to you !! * Lastly, I'm paying $150 for shopping at your store. What would $ 5 discount bring to me ? I felt so stereotyped by her tone, attitude, and bad customer service especially at the manager level that she holds. I politely told her she must take a second look and she must not expect the customers to pay a full price for a damaged item. I felt so upset with this incident as I consider shopping and customer service is meant to make a customer's experience nice but this was ironical. This place has a lot of good quality products. I came here after being informed that they carry the entire Pecksniff line of bathroom soaps, which I recently became addicted to. Due to the office park down the block, and the high volume of NYC commuters who live around here in general, this TJ's always has a large stock of work clothes. Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Kenneth Cole shirts, sweaters and pants are usually there. $10 Perry Ellis dress pants in the clearance section = score. I just wish they had a little more to offer beyond that, as their general selection can be hit or miss. And when you miss, it makes you wonder how this store stays in business. This is a great TJ Maxx, never overly crowded. When they put out new beauty items I eeeek inside with joy! Clothes are hit or miss for me at this location. I purchased great kitchen knives here. Also got a bunch of kids clothes for my godson. The store associates and shoppers keep the place pretty in tact. You'll find Party City, Pathmark, and a wine shop also in this shopping plaza. read more

My friend and I have called and searched at every Tj Maxx on Long Island for a flower pot that he found in the Patchogue location. The flower pot is sold in either real or white and comes in two different styles. One that's completely rounded with almost a raised netting design on the the outside. The other pot, the one he needs, is similarly shaped to a "Joy Ice Cream Cone"; the ones that are flat on the bottom. And the top of the pot flares out while the other pot doesn't flare out. Every store we called said they had it and were 100% sure it was the right one and when we would get there it was the wrong pot. We called the New Hyde Park location and spoke with Sandy Lopez who by far gave us the best over the phone customer service in any store, not even just Tj Maxx. He knew exactly what pot I was talking about and knew before I even said it that there were two different styles. I said ive traveled all over Long Island looking for this pot because every store said they had it when it was the wrong one. He went as far as to send me pictures of the pots to make sure the pot he we talking about was the one I was looking for. Although his location didn't have the color pot I was looking for, I'd like to acknowledge his remarkable customer service he gave us and also a trip saved that we probably would have made if any other employee were to answer the phone THANK YOU SANDY! :) read more

I'm not exaggerating when I say that this place turned me into a shopaholic. I work in the area and my coworker brought me here one day...and I fell in love. I've seen TJ Maxxes in other places (the city, Rego Park), but they're always messy and discouraging to go through. This one is neat and has awesome stock. I find something almost every time. The prices at TJ are cheaper than Marshalls sometimes (even though they're the same chain), and definitely cheaper than discount online stores. I have never shopped retail price again because I know it will always be cheaper at TJ. And these are name brands. It takes a bit of patience to go through the racks, but there are goodies in there. The accessories (bags, sunglasses) and shoes are wonderful. I've seriously bought like 7 pairs of sunglasses in the past year - Kate Spade ($40), Michael Kors ($20), Jessica Simpson ($12), etc. The home section here is great too. Again, name brand stuff and good condition (in other TJs the home stuff tends to be broken or scratched b/c they're just piled high on top of each other). Three suggestions: 1. If you see something you like, just grab it and return it later if you change your mind. The item most likely won't be there the next day. And TJ has a pretty good return policy. 2. If you go during your lunch time like I do, give yourself AT LEAST 20 minutes to pay. Most of the people here do go during lunch, and they all tend to line up near the end of the hour. 3. If you work in the area, just walk there if you can. Parking is insane, as most of the older people go to Pathmark during this time. read more
