Hitting up these shops has always been a must when I've traveled in Japan. Some of the ones there are several stories tall so I expected something similar to the Daiso's I've visited in California with a really trimmed down selection. I find that at least for this one in Oswego that the number of products available was a lot more than I thought it'd be especially with the added plus of their more expensive but still bargain-priced Standard product line. This was happily surprising even though it totally wrecked my plans of just popping in to grab a couple of little things to add to my neices' Easter baskets. The trip ended up turning into a familiar situation of finding myself slowly idling through every aisle to be sure I noted everything that was available. Suddenly many of the little things I had to leave behind in Tokyo were once again at my fingertips and I didn't have to worry about overfilling a suitcase. Two brimming bags and $40 later I made it out of what I'm sure was just the first of many random trips to these new Chicagoland Daisos.

But you can't just buy the bath mat since it needs its companion towels, tissue box, etc. We struggled to get anything besides a mist spray bottle since we already have everything we need. If our kids went to college and needed stuff for dorm, my wife would love picking stuff out for them. Diaso store wise is smaller than the regular diaso in Niles since it has half of store taken by standard product.

So much more than the prom pictures in this store. Great…read morevariety for a more sophisticated look. Accessories too. Each item only has a few in the size so this is truly a boutique and you won't see yourself coming and going. Today while shopping and of course purchasing :) they wrapped our purchases. Very nice touch. This is my first visit. I'll definitely be back. Casual wear like great jeans and sweaters to beautiful dresses - short and long formals. Check it out. Went in again today and really like this little boutique. Friendly service and very helpful. Love that they only carry a few of each item. You won't see yourself coming and going.

Racks of beautiful dresses arranged by colors of the rainbow (see the couple of photos that I posted). I thought that all the people that I met inside were very friendly and helpful - not pushy. My daughter had already tried on every dress in the store during her last visit and chose the perfect one for her. Quite lovely (and glad I wasn't there for the 1st part of the adventure). She thought the the staff was very helpful and not pushy - good for them! They also have some very nice guys clothing (non-formal) as well as tuxes for prom or that other special occasion. This place is a gem in the middle of where - Oswego (holy cow - who would have thunk).
