Moved to town several years back and drove by the store countless times but never went in. Finally visited the other day and was very pleasantly surprised. The store itself is lovely, clean and decorated with seasonal displays (and the new leather smell was divine, as a very olfactory person). Helpful, non-pushy staff. Good selection. Duy's Shoes is like going back in time... An honest to goodness old fashioned shoe store. If you looking for inexpensive/budget shoes you will be disappointed. If you're looking for higher end shoes like Rockport, Red Wing and SAS you're in the right place. If it's not in stock, they will order it. If your 94 year old MIL is in the hospital and not sure of what size, they will even give you a couple of shoes , to make sure you get the correct size. It is clearly posted in the store that they do not give refunds, just store credits only. To me, that only makes sense as some people visit a brick and motor store, buy and try on a product and then knowing it fits try to locate the same product at a lower cost. The staff does an excellent job of fitting the shoes and asking questions to make sure your matches to the correct pair of shoes. It kind of reminded my of Harry Potter and the Sorting Hat. It's also fair to be able to return a product if dissatisfied and a store credit to me, is a viable alternative and they have many other brands of shoes to choose from. Happy new year and happy NEWS year 2023. Duy's is the best shoe store in the Chicago metro area and in my opinion, in the Midwest. It's worth the time and effort to go see what is new, try on other sensible brands and styles. I have purchased all my dozen or so pairs of Birkenstocks at Duy's and must admit, I have them for all seasons. As a retired RN, I know the value of happy healthy feet. Some of Birkies have been refurbished and that is a service they also provide. My old faves are once again my new "go to's". Give them a try. Went here because we wanted a mom & pop store, quality shoes, & one-on-one assistance. At no point was I told they did not takes returns. I explained my entire issue, neurological disorder, pain, cannot wear tennis shoes, need safe shoes for work, & that I need something safe for work that is not painful. Only when I arrived home with new shoes did I see "no returns" on their receipt. Only for store credit, so I lost 178.00 to this store. What a joke. The shoes they sold me would not stay on my feet properly. The straps would not stay on & I almost fell down my stairs. There was no way I could wear the 178.00 pair of junk shoes to work. So, now I have a store credit to a place that does not provide quality service by standing behind what they sell. Do not waste your time here. Go to walmart, the outlet mall, or amazon & find a reputable seller & shoe so you are not screwed out of 1/2 your part-time employment pay check for junk. This is just one reason why I will not go to another mom & pop shoe store; you're better off buying junk from china that will allow a return/cash refund. read more

ABSOLUTELY terrible customer service. If I could give them zero stars, I would. My 90 year old grandmother bought two pair of shoes from this store, one pair was in stock, one was not. They made her pay in full prior to receiving the second pair. These were not cheap shoes, either, they were $150 a pair. Once she had the in-stock pair at home, she realized that they wouldn't work for her fussy, 90 year old feet. She called the store the next morning and informed the manager that she would be returning these shoes within a few days. The manager informed her that she would not receive her money back as their policy is that they ONLY issue store credit, no money back. My grandmother thought that she would pay a visit to the store to try and talk to the owner or a different employee, because really, who would take advantage of a 90 year who was unaware of said policy? Well, Duy's Shoes would. When she explained that she didn't know of their policy prior to purchase, the clerk simply pointed at a sign on the wall and said, "we've had the same policy for 30 year, it's not our fault if you don't read a sign." In a world of stores like Costco who go to the moon and back to provide great customer service, I didn't realize that stores like this one could stay in business! I hope that this serves as a warning to others. Don't let your trusting elderly relatives shop here - they will be taken advantage of! read more

This store is awesome! My mom told me about it and said let's take a drive. I REALLY needed a new pair of GOOD shoes for work. I am on my feet all day (Kitchen work) and I just had knee surgery in August. They have SO many CUTE shoes and boots here. Save up that $$$ and spend it here. Shoes are a little high BUT you are getting top brands. I tried on a few pairs and I was so sad that they did not have very many sizes to pick from in stock. Well for me at least. I wear a 9 which I THINK is a 40-41. Right away I slipped on a pair of Danskos. These were brown and I have to wear black for work. I looked up the site on my phone and found out if I called in a order I would get the LAST pair. I did so and I got them the next day!!! I was SO surprised of the delivery service. Just crazy fast!!! Anyways. I was bummed to not give Duy's my business THAT day because they did not have my size in stock. I will definitely be back to shop here. You've heard the Dos Equis commercials about the "Most Interesting Man in the World". Meet the "Most Interesting Man" in Sandwich, Todd Duy. The man runs a quality establishment in town that has been operating since 1954. Todd's been a part of the team since the early 1970's and at the helm since the late 70's. He is a friendly, personable guy sure to make your shopping experience worthwhile. We stopped by on the way home from nearby Lake Holiday. There is just something funny about a town named Sandwich. We decided to get t-shirts featuring something Sandwich. The screen printing designs are amazing and come in hundreds of color combinations. While it's mostly for the local high school, there is something much better about making your own custom shirt than searching through row after row at the Salvation Army trying to impress your hipster friends. The screen printing process was quick and Todd was more than accommodating to 5 sunburned, hung over twenty somethings. We've gotten so many compliments that the shop has now figured prominently on friend's and family wish lists. Thanks Todd. read more

Bought a fussy hubby in for some GOOD shoes. We were greeted right away. Explained the foot issues we had and what we thought we were looking for. A number of different options were suggested and hubby was allowed to walk around the store to test them out. They do have a no return (credit only) policy, but it's clearly posted right at the register. Really happy with the help and looking forward to going back for additional pairs. read more

I read a lot of the reviews for Duy's and it seems a lot of people are upset about their policy of only giving store credit on returns. Maybe it's not the best policy, but it is well posted in the store. Anyway, I purchased two pairs of shoes today - a pair of SAS sandals and a pair of new balance walking shoes. I was a bit apprehensive when I walked in and saw a guy at the counter. I had visited the store with my mom on another occasion and she had a wonderful woman help her, so I was hoping to have the same lady. But, the guy (I didn't get his name) was wonderful. Very helpful and knowledgeable. He measured my foot and pulled several shoes for me to try. He patiently put them all on my feet. I can't afford to shop here very often, but I will be back when I need some shoes. Give them a try- just be aware of their return policy. read more

I bought a pair of shoes here for work but when I brought them in was told they were not "approved shoes.". I brought them back to duys new and unused but they would not give me my money back, only an in store credit. I tried to use the credit a couple months later but the carbon paper they gave me the credit on was not legible anymore (just sitting in my wallet pocket) so they would not take it. The shoes I returned were 94.00 so I basically donated 100 bucks to duy's. What a scam. I can honestly say thanks for nothing. Crooked operation. read more

Stopped in Duys to spend my $10 coupon on Birks, and picked up a pair as well as some Danskos on 5/22/09. Wore the Danskos for the first time to work yesterday (5/27/09 - 5 days later), and they rubbed my feet raw in several places. (I have an office job -- not all day walking.) I took them back to Duy's after work, and was told that because I wore them "outside" they couldn't take them back. I've worn Danskos shoes for years, and have not had this problem in the past with any purchased elsewhere. Basically, I'm just out the $135 for the Dansko's. They wouldn't even offer me store credit. I can't believe the lack of customer service - particularly on such a high priced item! I'm trying to help patronize the "little guy" by shopping in Yorkville, but from here on out, I'm back to The Walking Company in Bolingbrook. They stand behind the products they sell! read more

I was very disappointed with customer service. I ordered dansko shoes and was tol I would receive in 2 weeks... 2 weeks no shoes no call. 6 weeks later STILL no call no shoes . I would have had no problem with shoes coming in late but they were not helpful. I finally get my shoes and they were uncomfortable the I called and Lori answered and was so rude and not helpful at all! She told me she owns 6 pairs and she is comfortable so I should be! Well we all have different feet and what is good for her May not be for me. I just wanted a little help guess I went to the wrong place. No wonder there place in sandwich is closing.I can't believe someone would talk to a unhappy customer that way! I love to help local business in our area but this one I will never again.
