They completely ignored me the entire time I was in the store. I went in today looking for a dress or suit to wear to a wedding. I wandered around the store in the basement Prom Shoppe for about 10 minutes by myself - not one employee was there. I could probably have walked out with a dress if I wasn't an honest person. Then I found my way upstairs where there was a flurry of activity: a Mom trying to wrangle her two toddlers as she tried on dresses, a gaggle of middle-aged women in the front of the store huddled together giggling about cologne... and another lone woman standing at the counter waiting to be served. She was ALSO ignored. I looked around that upstairs area for about another 10 minutes by myself and the entire time the other woman was standing there at the counter. I noticed someone finally said, "Have you been helped?" She replied no one had helped her. So what did they do? KEPT HER WAITING. I wish I was kidding. Not one person in the entire 20 minutes I was in the store looked over at me, let alone smiled, or breathed a "hello." I was dressed casually but had my hair and make-up done and jewelry on... I looked like a shopper ready to try on clothes and buy something. Could I have asked for help? I suppose... but why would I spend my money at a store that ignores it's customers? Maybe you need an appointment at this place? If so, they should prominently post a sign "shop by appointment only." Or maybe they need a lesson in basic etiquette. I live in the same town and will never go back; I will also warn away all my teen daughters friends and their Moms to shop elsewhere for their special occasion dresses. DO NOT SHOP HERE. I'm completely puzzled by these negative reviews. I took my daughter to The Prom Shoppe last week and had a wonderful experience. Many, many choices and styles that we had not seen anywhere else! If you cannot readily find a size, they will help you locate it in-store, or give you a proper measurement for a no-charge order. My daughter's dress is expected to be in store in just a week. Thank you Prom Shoppe. We had a wonder Mother-Daughter day. My girl felt special and beautiful. She is only a Freshman, and you've earned a long-term customer. read more

We go to The Prom Shoppe in Oswego for every homecoming. This year we purchased a dress for prom too. Great store. Great service. We always try to go early and during off hours. What an absolutely disappointing store! So much potential but no one cared we'd even walked in. I asked a young lady about where certain sizes where and she just waved her hands and said, "Oh they're all over...you just have to look." They did have some beautiful dresses, but the customer service was completely lacking, the dress sizes were either double zero, four or 22... And insultingly overpriced, especially for that type of customer service, or lack there of. Hopefully they'll make appropriate changes because it could've been great. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED with the lack of disrespect and professionalism from some of the workers. My daughter had tentatively picked out her dress the day before and came back to try it on again to be sure. When my husband walked in with her a teenage worker greeted him with a very rude comment. She said, "We close at five. I'm just telling you because you tend to come in right before we close!" We had been in late the night before and chose a dress. Regardless, that was a very disrespectful comment to make to someone who just paid nearly $600 for a dress. My daughter bought the dress and was out by 5:03. I had an amazing experience at the Prom Shoppe. The people that worked there were amazing and extremely helpful. The lady that worked there even brought me a dress from downstairs that she thought I would like and it ended up being my favorite. I was ignored the entire time, most of the dresses came in sizes 2 or under, so even if I liked a few dresses I couldn't try them on because none of them came close to my size. The dresses I saw there were at other boutiques I saw later in the day, but the others had many more sizes. read more

I had high hopes when I came in the other day looking for a prom dress. They seemed nice and organized when I arrived. However, once in the store, the selection of dresses was sparse with hardly any in my size (4) and I received no help at all trying anything on. After being totally ignored by the staff I left the fitting room to grab another dress and was treated very rudely by two of the older women employees. I would not recommend this place. The Prom Shoppe in Oswego has had a fantastic reputation since I can remember ! I bought several of my prom and homecoming dresses there when I was OHS. It was the 'place to go' and it still is. Jackie was a great person, with a classy style. I think she would be proud that the shop has kept up that reputation ! I have purchased several dresses for my daughter at the Prom Shoppe or as we called it 'Jackies'. We always ask for Jenna T. She is knowledgable, has a sense of style and adorable ! She always meets (remembers us) with warm smile ready to help us out. When you go there ask for her, she is all about customer service and will do her best to find you the perfect dress or outfit ! We love her and the Prom Shoppe ! Oswego was 3,000 people when I lived here.......yes it is 'past the loop'...but it is worth it, small hometown service with the big city selection ! read more

HOW RUDE!!!! My daughter went with her friends to try on dresses for prom. We figured why not get a head start. That way when we return we would already know what we are looking for. Well it didn't go as planned. Not only was the staff rude to her and her two friends, but they also made them feel unwelcome!! A little disappointing. The only dresses available were VERY, very gaudy. Nothing at all plain and sophisticated. Very shiny. The salesgirls seemed very helpful, but not the same for the cashier. If the dresses aren't enough to scare you away, the prices definitely will!! Nothing appeared to be under $300, and the same dresses were at the mall for much less. read more

The store is very clean and has a large selection of dresses however the staff isn't very helpful or friendly. It's very hard to get into a dressing room or find dresses in your specific size. While all the dresses were beautiful, they were too expensive. De' Zsa Vu across the street is where I was able to find my dress. read more

This shop exceeded my expectations! This was the second store I came to, and I loved it. There is so much variety that it's impossible not to find a dress. There are so many designers, a lot of styles, and a variety of price ranges. I cannot stress how amazing the staff was.They were incredibly helpful and super hands on. They aren't pushy, and they even helped me pick out dresses. The nice thing about this store is the amount of space. Because it is two floors, there is more than enough room for the customers and dresses. Initially I went to Wolsfelts Prom in Aurora, but they didn't have as much variety this shop. WARNING: before you shop here, it's important you know that they only sell one style of dress to one person from each school. AND they fail to tell you that until after you've tried on a dress and fell in love with it. I tried on over 7 dresses until I finally found one I completely loved. I was ready to check out (and pay $200, I might add) until the cashier refused to sell it to me because somebody from my school had bought it an hour earlier. I left empty handed and very upset. I shopped here for the first time recently for my senior homecoming dress. The atmosphere was very nice, everyone was kind and helpful, and they have a good system going. Although not everyone may find their dream dress here, I found one that I *thought* was pretty close to it. I tried on a beautiful beaded dress and didn't pay too much attention to the fine details because I was so stoked by its beauty, which was my mistake. The dress, a blue Primavera 3312, fit pretty well, and although I noticed some unruly strings flying, I purchased it. Upon further inspection at home, I noticed that in a lot of places, the beading was disrupted or missing entirely, and there were much more flyaway strings than I originally noticed. My mom also found that the insides of the straps seemed a bit dirty, and they look like they have been altered before. From afar, the dress is still beautiful, but I'm a bit uneasy with the fact that this dress may have been worn already and was advertised as new... Not every dress may be like this and everyone was very nice, which is why I gave three stars instead of one for my *slightly used* dress. ALSO, I went to Gipper Prom in Crystal Lake afterwards with my friend to find her a dress and they had the same exact dress that I purchased at TPS in MUCH better condition. Had it not been for TPS's "all sales are final" policy, I would have returned the dress and bought the nicer one at Gipper. read more

We went here because we were searching for a specific designer, and the website looked great. When we arrived, we found out it was just talk. As we came in, we looked on the first floor, and though we found some pretty homecoming dresses. They were in size 00, 0, 2 & 4. I thought, maybe they are separated by size, and the larger sizes are upstairs. Nope. In the whole store, we found a few 6s and maybe a few 8s. There were no 10s or 12s on the entire sales floor. We saw one size 16, and a couple of the same dress in XL. I asked a sales associate if we needed to look in a different section, and was told that all dresses were on the floor or in a dressing room. This store was such a disappointment. Prom Bay is only open on weekends, but it has dresses on the racks by size, and they provide an efficient, fun shopping experience for prom or homecoming. We even saw several plus size girls looking beautiful, trying on different styles. We went back to Peaches in Chicago for homecoming this year. They have beautiful dresses and EXCELLENT service. Greeted us when we walked in, started dressing room for my daughter, anytime they seen we pulled a dress from rack an associate quickly came and took it to dressing room. It was horrible, we went there to look for prom dresses and they did not have anything for less then three hundred dollars, and had hardly any sizes over a three. And they treated us like crap they even told my daughter that she would not find a dress for under $400 in her "size" a.k.a. a size 12. It was also poorly organized, if you found a half decent dress you either had to track down a worker to bring the dress to the dressing room or haul it there yourself. Do not waste your time here.
