This is for the san Bernardino store on 40th street I returned some items. They told me the refund would be put on my card. It would take three to ten days. I have been waiting for a refund for over a month. Ive contacted this store and got bounced a from one person to another. They told me the refund had been sent. Then told to call customer service. I went in this evening to buy some items and I took a perfume that I'd purchased a couple of days ago to see whether or not I could exchange it since I did not like the scent. The cashier said that because it was opened they would not be able to return but she would ask her manager. I told her it was perfectly fine if it could not be returned, I just thought I would ask(since I didn't have the receipt I knew that would be a possibility). When said manager arrived she had a droopy mean face and attitude to match. She said "No, we can't take it back like this" but then proceeded to open the box and took the perfume out to inspect (idk why if it was not going to be returned). Then she calls another woman over and asked her to take a look. They huddled in a corner touching and looking at the perfume. Came back and repeated what she had already said. At this point I was dubious of her intentions and quite annoyed that she put germs and invited someone else to put germs all over a bottle they had no intention of keeping. I work in healthcare and my pet peeve is people handling things with dirty hands. The cashier asked if I wanted to open a credit card (I had one a year ago but closed it bc I rarely shop at TjMaxx) and I replied with a definite NO, I told her I have no intention of ever going to a TJ Maxx and most definitely not returning to this particular store. They don't even have good items to begin with and with the manager lacking customer service skills even worse. And by the looks of other reviews, customer service is not a priority in this location. Neither is proper hygiene, advice for management: If you have no intention on having a product returned then please refrain from putting your dirty little paws all over, thank you. read more

Manager with the curly, bleached-blonde hair is rude, condescending and lacks customer-service skills, in a very serious way. Remember your job is to be service oriented, not to question or demean a customer. I sincerely hope this entire team gets trained on customer service and etiquette. Also, it would be extremely helpful to all employees if there was a training on how to operate a basic register, as this is retail. The lines are very long at this location. I kept getting skipped at jewelry until I spoke up and worker didn't like it and tried saying other people got there before me. Had to get in the other line reaching up the bags to pay for my other items. Finally reached cashier and was going to use Apple Pay (I forgot my wallet at home). She said if I wanted to apply for their credit card. I remembered I had the card on the app so I tried using that first but they had to call the blonde manager over and she made me jump through hoops to show that the app was real and my info was verified on the app through a text message and it asked for my SSN. Manager then asked for my ID (I never was asked for an ID before when using my physical credit card so I didn't expect it). I informed her that I didn't have it with me and she stared at me blankly and in disbelief without saying anything just asking for it again. Getting there: This location is a Home Good and TJ Maxx combined store. There's plenty of parking in front but the parking lot can get crowded. Experience: This store is always crowded. The isles are really small, so trying to push a full size cart through an isle is not fun...and if you have to maneuver through people down the isle forget it. I do love both stores though, you may just have to be in the mood to do some digging because you can find some really cool things there. read more

Horrible customer service, took my husband and I 15 minutes for this young white female cashier to "price check" a baby item, she assumed that it was the wrong price for the item. We waited for her as she talked to other employees, it was a genuine waste of our time. She did not even talk to my husband about the issue which was rude. Obviously this location needs to teach these younger employees how to be decent human beings. The manager is a piece of trash. Customers go based on what the tag says, we don't go around the store scanning the items to make sure the price is right. I go and I try to buy a suitcase and I try to pay and the cashier and the manager tells me that it's not the right price. So now we're changing the prices up at the register? My daughter and I are regulars at TJ Maxx, love the great finds but if I could give the management team at Redlands TJ Maxx 0 stars I would. I have tried to return an item on 2 occasions, with my receipt, within 30 days and was given serious issues. The first time I didn't write about, giving them the benefit of the doubt figuring maybe they were having a bad day. This time the manager, Mona, was very unprofessional and was very rude and I could not let this one go. She came to the counter to review my return and begin opening my shampoo and conditioner bottles, while getting loud, attracting plenty of attention, accusing me of using almost the entire bottles. I felt degraded and insulted. If that were the case I would not of tried to return the product, ever! That is just embarrassing. I am not that person and would not return an item that I used up, that is just a horrible thing to accuse a customer of doing. I came to TJ Max to find high end makeup for less. I only managed to pick up a bronzer from Mark Jacobs. The rest were not high end. Not too much to choose from at this location. Everything was limited and the other half was a Home Goods store. I didn't really look around as they were also limited on items as well. I'm on the search for Mark Jacobs. This location opens up at 9:30 am on Saturday's. plenty of parking up front. This was next to Ross's. At least I purchased one item from here. read more

I went to San Bernardino store on 4/9 to see if I find something I like and I noticed on the rack the store use to move the merchandise around it was an item I wanted in the box it was open, the employee let me know that I couldn't touch it till it was on the shelf so I put it back and I stepped back thinking she was going to put it on the shelf but she went to open other boxes instead of placing what I want to buy. I desired to go without the item I didn't want to wait any longer but when I was in line to pay for what I had in my cart I started to think well I'm here and the item I wanted was there too so I went to ask the manager if they can put it on the shelf but she said no! Not only no! but because of me they were going to put it back in the warehouse till the next day !!! So much for customer service. Really? I keep every tag and receipt in case I change my mind, so I felt as if the store thought I was not correct in bringing back right with the tags . It was their mistake on the tags, not me! Today, my wife and I both of color, went shopping for a baby shower gift for my younger sister. We both purchased a newborn set, which one was tagged for $19.99. A young, skinny, tall with brunette hair white female who was ringing me up made my purchase very difficult and wasted my time. She took my items and stated that she needed to do a price check on the baby items, also stated that the tag was wrong on the item, however when she rung up the item it was the same price that was displayed. She then left the register and took approximately 15 minutes "checking" on one item with other coworkers and a manager. I then asked her what the problem was with the item and did not say a word to me. Clearly, she did not want to communicate with me like a professional, she then proceeded with my transaction with a stern face on her look. This was the most unprofessional encounter I've had with an employee at this location. This store needs to properly educate these younger workers and to stop racially profiling customers who are just simply shopping for a simple gift. read more

The store itself in regards to the inventory is at least 4 stars - it's the management I have an issue with. I shop A LOT and keep all of my receipts (or have them sent to my email) and I usually wait until I have a few returns so I can save myself too many trips since I live in Highland and I prefer going to this store in Redlands. For some reason, it seems like the regular employees here have a good attitude and are overall friendly and provide good service. The lady manager on the other hand comes off very rude and acts superior almost. I am never rude to store employees and even if they say that my return is not eligible which happens on occasion - I never make a fuss, I understand because I've worked in retail. I do not however understand or agree with having a snotty attitude and being rude to paying customers for absolutely no reason. Again - not all the employees there act like this, but I've dealt with it on a few occasions from the manager. At first I even gave her the benefit of the doubt and told myself maybe she is being rude because she deals with a lot of BS in regards to people returning things to the store. I know that can get pretty tiring with all the theft going on and a lot of the responsibility probably falls on her. But if I were her, I would pay more attention to which people are paying customer and which people are trying to scam, not just give the same bad attitude to everyone. read more

I've been to several TJ Maxx stores and purchased lots of TJ Maxx gift cards because most of their staff are very friendly. BUT not in this store! It's the first time (and last time) I went to this store for returning a dog hair trimmer I bought couple days before. I bought the trimmer at another store and it doesn't even work. I told them I only tried it once and it didn't work but they still refuse to take it back and keep says "you've already used it, you cannot return it". How can I tell it's working or not before I TRY (not USE) it? Their cashiers (especially the lady named Sheila) are very rude and unprofessional. I love the items at this store but the customer service here is the worst!! I was sitting near the door to try and get some better reception on my phone and an associate tells me I need to get off the sales floor and make my purchase because I had to leave all the while their line was passed the que section. I went in to do a simple return with a receipt and it turned into a 5 minute transaction with one of the worst cashiers I've ever met. First, Geena took forever to locate the two items on the receipt. She then took the two items and the receipt to the back counter and spoke with several other cashiers in regards to the return. I heard one of the other cashiers ask, are they both on the receipt?" She finally came back to the counter where I stood puzzled. I asked her what was going on and she said, "I had to process the items." Ok this is a first for me. I've never heard of this or seen this happen. She then scanned the items and the receipt. This to me was actually processing the return. Ultimately if there was an issue with the return (which there wasn't) she should have addressed it. Terrible customer service by cashier at the very 1 st register you see as your waiting in line. Small frame lady with an accent, she has dark brown hair with highlights and is small framed. Anyhow, she motions her hand that she's ready. Then, she doesn't say Hello, even a " did you find everything okay..." nothing, she tells me the total as $12.97 when it clearly says $12.91. Then she hands me my receipt without making eye contact and I say my bag, and she's says oh " look at me" , like she forgot. The last TJ Maxx I frequented, I almost always left each time with something, especially men's shirts for my husband. This place didn't have much of a selection in terms of clothes. That area I have to give a lower score. I would come back, but only to cut through to go to the Home Goods area of the store. That area is wonderful. This is a really nice Tj Maxx. It is a 2 in one, clothing, etc and home goods. They are constantly rotating their merchandise so you will always see something new. Very good quality selection, excellent customer service, very clean, huge location, plenty to look at, and it is located in a great, safe, shopping mall area. They also have plenty of cashiers so you never have to worry about a long wait. read more

I went to TJ max last night and had horrible customer service at the check out. When I got to the register the cashier never greeted me, didn't ask of I found everything. She was more worried about calling someone to take the go backs where they belong. After she rung my items up she never told me my price, again still trying to call someone for the go backs. The Associate on the floor was very nice and assisted me (Haley), but it is a totally different story when you get to the front for check out. I am confirming what the others have reviewed, the front staff is rude and the "Manager" is very rude and arrogant. There was a price discrepency on one of my items and the irritated cashier said, "You are going to have to wait for my manager, so just hold on." How about some tact and customer service? Once the "Manager" came up he had the nerve to say, "Wow you called me up for that? It is only 5 dollars, but whatever." Mr. Manager, were you talking to me or did I overhear your attitude? Haley, my suggestion is to find another location to work at, because the only reason there are stars on this review is because of your service.
