I called on a Sunday around 6pm and she was able to accommodate two of us. It was only Ruby. The place is nice sized inside with four big comfy massage chairs. Ruby has a great personality and is very friendly. I got a pedicure and she took her time and it felt great. There are 3 different package. I opted for the middle one and it was super nice. I'll be back soon. The prices are great and atmosphere is nice. read more

This place is my go to for nails! I recommend calling in advance to see if Amy, the owner, can fit you in the same day or make an appointment. She does my gel manicure and she does it with a quickness and quality job. She doesn't overcharge either. Amy is friendly and very sweet. A modest size, low key nail salon with a nice owner present. I walked in without an appointment for an overdue manicure and pedicure, and waited just a few minutes before being seated for service . They have just a few massage chairs and couple of nail stations, nothing super fancy, but everything looked clean. The lady (I believe the owner) did a great job on my nails. The price was very reasonable for both and I was done within a hour . The atmosphere is not a spa like environment, where you sip sparkling wine or anything . Just a very well run neighborhood nail shop with really nice people :) read more

If I could give zero starts I would. I came in as a walk in with only one tech already mid service. Waited patiently. Told her I purposely grew out my set so have them soaked off and gel added on my natural nail. The tech proceeds to clip and rip my nails off down to nothing, leaving one fingernail bleeding. She is rushing because someone else walks in. I keep telling her she is hurting me and that's not what I asked her to do. After my nails were all off and cut down I told her I would not like to continue the service Bcus she was not listening to me. She then forced me to pay $10 via Venmo for this painful service I kept asked her to stop doing. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I found a Groupon for two gel manicures for a really good price, so I couldn't resist buying them and giving this place a try. I'm usually hesitant to use Groupons at nail salons because most salons treat you poorly once they find out you have a Groupon. However, that is not the case at TJ Cut & Spa. I called ahead and booked an appointment for my first of two gel manicures for a Thursday night after work. When I arrived, there were several ladies getting manicures and pedicures but I was attended to fairly quickly. I picked out my color and the lady got straight to work. She was pleasant and engaged in light conversation. But the best part? She didn't try to pressure me or up-sell me any products or services. And when I reminded her that I had a Groupon, she didn't treat me any differently - her service was just as friendly as it had been before. My nails came out amazing and last a whole two weeks (before I chose to have them removed). I am heading into my second gel manicure appointment tomorrow and I am hoping it is as amazing as the first. read more

Love my manicure! I asked for a gel manicure with chrome. You can pick any of their gel colors and they can make them chrome. I chose a cute pink color and then when she added the chrome it made my nails look like rose gold. I'm in love. Great service, friendly staff! read more

She went as far as saying the staff "gets scared" when I come in, which is not only unprofessional but completely false. Throughout the past year, I've also noticed that the staff frequently speaks in their language while looking directly at me or other clients, creating an uncomfortable environment where customers feel talked about instead of respected. This has happened every single time I've visited. To make matters worse, shortly before my service was finished, I overheard another woman complaining about her nail tech as well, proving I'm not the only customer experiencing issues. When I requested a small discount due to the disrespect I received, the salon refused. No apology, no accountability, and no professionalism. After a year of loyalty and hundreds of dollars spent, this is how I was treated. I will not be returning, and I hope management seriously reevaluates how staff communicates with customers and handles feedback.

I scheduled a visit a few days in advance for three people and four services and paid an $80 deposit ($20 per service) via Venmo. One person canceled that morning, but I was able to switch to a different service for myself that same day vs. losing my deposit. The two pedicures were fine. They were basic pedicures, and aside from the water initially being extremely hot, I was happy with the results. Because of the deposit, there was also no wait time. The head spa, however, was a completely different experience. This was my first head spa, so I was excited and expected it to be relaxing. Unfortunately, it was anything but. The massage was brief, and despite the menu stating that oils would be used, none were applied. During the double cleanse, the technician used her fingernails rather than her fingertips, which became painful. There was also an excessive amount of cleanser, and rinsing it out was difficult. The water temperature was extremely inconsistent--going from hot to ice cold--and water got into my ear. Instead of feeling relaxed, I was uncomfortable throughout the service. Afterward, my hair was not completely dry. When I asked for serum, I was told it had already been applied, and I had to explain that I wanted my hair fully dried and soft. Another staff member eventually finished drying it, and the end result was much better. The two services totaled $138, or $158 with a 15% tip. I shared all of this feedback with the front desk before leaving. They were receptive and said they would provide additional training. I was also told that the technician was new to the salon and has some communication issues. I appreciate that they listened to my concerns, but based on my head-spa experience, I would not return for that service. *********************************************************** FINAL THOUGHTS Making a reservation requires a deposit, but it does give you priority if there's a wait. PRO TIP: I visited on a Saturday around noon, and it wasn't busy at all. If you're coming in solo, you can probably skip the reservation and deposit. I've had two pedicures here, and the service was totally fine. No issues at all. I also clearly saw the technicians using Barbicide to disinfect their metal tools, although I didn't pay attention to where they pulled the drill bits from. Overall, the salon is CLEAN, which I really appreciate. Personally, I wouldn't get a head spa treatment here again. I was told they're having plumbing issues because the building is old and that their plumber hasn't been able to resolve the problem. However, based on my experience, I feel some of the issues were related to the technician and not just the plumbing. That said, I'd love to hear from others who have had a head spa here. How was your experience with the water temperature? Did you have a better experience with a different technician? I'd genuinely be curious to know!

My favorite Sacramento nail tech, Henry, and his parents Thach & Tracy are now the new owners of TJ Nails & Spa, and I couldn't be happier for them! The shop is family-run, and the service is amazing from start to finish. I was even helped by his sweet little sister in picking my glitter lavender gel pedicure color (#007). The space is small but full of warmth. I was greeted with big smiles, offered water right away, and they even have snacks such a nice touch. The ambiance is so serene; calm and relaxing, with faith base soft music, great lighting, and no harsh chemical smells. Henry's mom, Tracy gave me one of the best pedicures I've had (option #2) I renamed it "Mama's Touch", and Henry worked his magic on my nails. I have been going to Tj Cut & Spa about once every 3 weeks for the longest time because it is very close to where I live. I always got consistent good service and good hair cut. Depending on the date of the week that I go, I would get my hair cut by either Amy or Jenny. I believe Jenny is there on the weekend and Amy is there during the week but regardless of whom, I know I will get good hair cut.Being a guy, I can't say much about manicure but I tried pedicure last time and it was good. Mimi did a very good job. I like the reward program. You will get a free hair cut (i believe it will apply to manicure as well) after 10 services. I brought in a picture of a design I wanted, and he not only recreated it perfectly, but added a few individual touches that made it even better than I imagined. I don't think this shop will reopen any time soon. It is unfortunate, as I've been a client of Laney's for many years (used to be at KB & Stone before she went out on her own). When I arrived, I felt a bit unwelcomed as no one seemed eager to assist me with my request for a color change on just two toes. I understand that this may have been an unusual ask, but I was recommended this shop by someone who assured me they could help, especially since I had an event nearby. When I first entered, there was a staff member who appeared available, but she was busy when I returned, and unfortunately, they were unable to fit me in for a service. While I recognize that this may happen, the overall atmosphere felt a bit off, prompting me to share my experience. I want to clarify that I did not receive any services here, and I am not attributing the chipping of my toenails to this shop, as that occurred elsewhere. I appreciate the effort that goes into providing services and may consider returning for a full service in the future to see if my experience is different. Thank you for your understanding. I've updated this to a 3 star do to the misunderstanding on both parts.

I decided on a pedicure & got their monthly special "Aloha Breeze". The lady that helped me was phenomenal!!! She adjusted my chair several times 2 help me b comfortable. And she showed me that there's a spot 4 your arms 2 b so they can get massaged!!! No 1 showed me that b4!!! I had 3 rounds of the massage chair & my pedicure was over an hour!!! My toes r pretty & I got the longest massage ever!!! Every time I thought she was done, she would keep going!!! I will definitely go back & highly recommend this spot!!!
