My husband and I have tried Poncho's on Otay Lakes road in the 7-11 and Dollar Tree shopping center and today our burritos hit the spot! They will mess up your order . It took them 3 tries to fix my order. Other than that the food is okay. The carne asada fries and chukies were decent . The fries were more like seasoned fries, it's different but good. They do not disappoint with the portion size ! They did stack it up with a bunch of cheese, guacamole and sour cream ! This place needs to work on being more efficient . I have seen from previous customers that they tend to mess up peoples orders and well the rumors are true. Is it a place thats worth to go too ? I order door dash from here several times a week. Same order every time. Carne asada fries with extra guac, sour creme, and cheese. I always try to call immediately after placing my order to remind them to include lots of red salsa. Today, the guy who picks up the phone tells me he can only include 9 salsas with my 3 orders of carne asada fries. This is what arrives. A bunch of half full or less than half caps. If you're the type of person to use a lot of salsa like me, order elsewhere unless you are dining in and getting your own salsa. I've never worked in the food industry, but common sense tells me if a customer goes out of their way to call in making sure the shop includes salsa, that customer must be serious about needing salsa to go with his meal. So now I've got a bunch of carne asada fries that I can't eat because I don't have enough salsa. If I forget to call, I'm lucky if I get one cap of salsa. If Panchos would learn to include a good amount of salsa with their orders, I'd be giving them 5 stars. read more

If you enjoy poor service and poorly made food then you've found the right place. Be sure to order a simple dish like cheese enchiladas as they will come out quickly with cold unmelted cheese and the "cook" will refuse to put it in the microwave or remake it. Lived near this joint in 1999-2003 and this was my go-to place for late night Mexican food. The Californian Burrito was by far the best one in my area. I must have eaten 50 or more of these and they were pretty close to the same deliciousness each time. read more

The young lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful and our food came out within 5 minutes. We chose the dine-in option, but about a dozen folks rolled through for take-out in the 20-25 minutes we were there. Clearly a local favorite for food, and we weren't disappointed. There is a small salsa buffet with cups on the side for some additional spice, and they have lids for those to-go orders. I'm new to the Chula Vista area and every place I've tried are always excellent, they always give you huge portions and the food is amazing - this is the first place I tried that THAT IS NOT TRUE! I would not go here ever again, we both ordered shredded chicken tostada - first there was no chicken in it but maybe a teaspoon, I thought it was soup there was sooo much liquid in it, there was maybe a teaspoon of refried beans - just lettuce and tomatoes and don't get me started on the portion. Have ordered here in the past and they are usually really good. I paid $19 (with tip) for a chile verde burrito and a coke. I took it to go and drove home (it is 30 minutes from home but on my way from work) only to find that they had given me a chile Relleno burrito! I can't even take it back because of how far I live or get a refund! There was NO ONE there when I arrive except for a guy who walked into the kitchen to talk to his buddies. Also with the new guidelines, they've already put up a glass partition in front of their cash register! Tried their Carne Asada chips and Shrimp Burrito! Both were super fresh and tasty! The Shrimp Burrito comes with plenty of shrimp, veggies and RICE! The carne in the chips are bite size and tender, not chewy. The chips themselves are also really good. Their salsa station is closed but they have pre-packaged salsas to go! We like the mild and green hot sauce. Just got done attempting to eat a simple bean and cheese burrito from here and just couldn't stomach to finish it. The cheese was cold like it hadn't had even been cooked, the beans are the worst quality I've ever tasted. If you can't do a simple bean and cheese, don't expect much from the cooks. The cashier was nice and had good customer service but it appeared to me that the cooks did not care about quality when making my order. I had ordered a two fish taco plate for my mom after a long day of work and was not only confronted with the slowest cook time but they didn't even give much rice and beans despite it also being terrible tasting. Since I live so close by I often order late if I have people over and they want late night taco shop. They're supposed to open til 11, but go at 10:40 and the door is locked. I even called at 10:40 from outside and saw a worker pick up the phone just to hang it up. If your hours say you're open til 11 o'clock than 10:40 should be plenty of time to order something. This Panchos restaurant is awesome!!! One of my favorite Mexican restaurants to order from. I love Mexican food but I have very high expectations on Mexican cuisine. Their menudo...is simply the best in town ( and believe me, I have been trying Menudo from all over SoCal and this is the ONLY place that has met and exceeded expectations. This is the closest and oldest Mexican food joint by house, which is the main reason why I'd eat their food more times than I should've. When I was in high school, my dad would frequently buy their carne asada fries for me. They were never really that great, but they would suffice, especially when I'd be starving. I remember one time, I got food poisoning from eating their carne asada fries. Next thing you know... I was in the movie theatre throwing up, and it was not a fun time! After that, I banished Los Panchos from my life. Many, many years later, the only time I would get food from here is if I'd get their rolled tacos. Throughout the years, their rolled tacos have always been pretty good. I'm super disappointed, though, because just the other day I got rolled tacos and they were not good at all. They're very inconsistent with their rolled tacos, I've noticed! Sometimes there's lettuce, sometimes there's not. A lot of the time the toppings are not equally distributed, and don't look very appealing. The other day I was wondering why my tacos tasted so different and off. Then I realized it was because there was a majority of rice rather than beef in them. It was the first time there was rice in my tacos at all. Not cool, Los Panchos. You can't play your customers and claim that the rice is beef. The ratio is not evenly distributed either if you're becoming cheaper about your tacos. Also there's more guacamole than the insides to begin with. I resort to this place when I'm too lazy, but quality matters. I don't think I'll ever eat here again. read more
