This is my second visit to Junction Bowl…read more I just popped in after a full day at work for Apps and a Brew. I was able to get a spot out front, plenty of street parking with no fees, and walked right in. Staff is friendly and prompt. I was able to just mozy up to the bar. Bar tender was prompt, took my order and I had a frosty drink in less than a minute. Ordered fried pickles and they were out in about three sips of my Pumpkinhead. They have a huge variety of draft, cans and plenty of alcohol to choose from. This includes, cider and GF options from lucky pigeon. The fried pickles are crispy, and the dip enhances the taste of the fried pickles. The full bar has seating on three sides and there are TVs everywhere you look. We are in the same room as the bowling lanes and there are twelve of them. There is seating in a separate room if you want. All in all a friendly, comfortable place to sit and rest your feet. Come on down

She didn't seem thrilled to be there and every other worker we interacted with sucked too. Everyone seemed snobby which is the opposite of what I want to experience on a first visit somewhere. We were told which late to go to the booth and table was dirty. We looked around to make sure we went to the right lane, almost all of the tables were dirty. We were at the right lane. An hour ish in, we finally got waited on and we finally got our food which was just a buffalo tender basket for us to share and we planned on getting more food. The tenders were good! We waited around for someone to come over so we could order more and it took so long we ended up just leaving and going somewhere else. But the tenders were good. Whole place extremely pricey though. Wouldn't recommend. I feel like my 2 star rating is pretty generous lol.

The staff were so friendly and tried to help us get a table as soon as possible. They even kicked out two women that stayed way after paying at the table for 6. Our server was so nice, knowledgeable, and tried to help in every way. We all got a drink and brunch. Everything was delicious and came out quickly after ordering. It was quiet but a great atmosphere. They were willing to accommodate minor changes to the menu. All the food was fantastic. I would definitely come back, just with a smaller party. It was a wonderful experience.

Our first time going to brunch at The Blue Pig was a great experience…read more I assumed they would have a wait at noon on a Sunday. I called ahead to see if they would put us on the wait list over the phone. They would not. We arrived, and it was a cold day, and luckily they have space inside, with some benches and chairs, to sit while you wait. There is no host taking names. It is seat yourself in the honor system...meaning...you must pay attention to what party arrived before you, and then watch for open tables or bar stools, and seat yourself at the appropriate time without cutting other parties who were there before yours. Since this is a bit uncommon, I can see how this might cause some anxiety for people...I was thinking...will others cut in front of my party? We were a party if 3 and 3 bar stools opened up so we decide to sit at the bar. The whole restaurant definitely has a "bar/tavern" kind of ambiance to it. It does not feel like a "diner". It has a great vibe...very relaxed, neighborhood kind of a feel. The menu includes both breakfast items and lunch items...which was perfect for our party. The menu has several classic southern dishes like country fried steak with sausage gravy, chicken and pork waffles with a choice of maple syrups, and biscuits and gravy. The menu also has traditional breakfast items like egg sandwiches, and other such items. The menu includes classic brunch cocktails, a selection of beers, and several mocktails. I tried the chicken and waffles with the hot maple syrup. It was perfect. The fried chicken was crisp and in smaller size pieces which I liked. The waffles were crisp on the outside and soft on the insides, and the best part was the syrup...it was spicy and sweet and perfect! My friend tried the country fried steak with sausage gravy and biscuits. It was delicious! It was classic in every way...white gravy, but tender steak, nice biscuits. My other friend tried the steak tip sandwich. The blue pig sauce on it was delicious (very savory), and the peppers and onions were chopped into small pieces...but the steak tips were not cut up...which made it difficult to bite through the steak tips. I would have cut up the steak tips and put them back into the sandwich...but it wasn't my sandwich. The sandwich came with spiced curly fries. The fries were VERY good. The service was friendly and fast. We will definitely go back.

It's a great location for big parties...the only strange thing about this location, it's huge with plenty of seating...however there isn't a lot of parking so if you had 12 people coming to meet for a work event...that would take up the parking area pretty quickly. This is how I want to know them. I like that it's off the beaten path, tucked away in some industrial park; the parking is like the wild west - there's no rules, just put your car somewhere that isn't in the way; and the interior of the brewery itself is waaaaaaaaay bigger than you think it's gonna be, and it's beautiful. It feels like you're inside a wood cabin in the middle of, well, the woods in Maine. Lots of seating options, cool merch, and the beers? Yeah. Okay. I get it. They're probably in my top three favorites in the state of Maine. I don't like IPA's, but dagnabbit if that Oh-J isn't delicious. It's like a juicy, alcoholic orange juice without the pulp or vitamin c. I'll also never say no the Samara Brown (subtly bitter like coffee left in the pot overnight), the Chaga Stout (earthy and roasty; but is it still an anti-inflammatory superfood when it's in beer?), or the Maple Sunday (which tastes like a pancake breakfast). Also, the Holy Donut collaboration was awesome - dark chocolate coconut donuts turned into a 10.5% ABV beer is a totally great idea. Even better? Pairing them WITH the actual donuts. For sure looking forward to releases like this in the future! I like that they have an outdoor space (and that there's room for food trucks to come up alongside it) and am excited to come back to this specific location.

We came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, expecting it to be packed. It was actually pretty quiet and service was exceptional. There were a couple of drink specials that we had to try - a Mexican Espresso Martini with honey tequila and cinnamon simple syrup and a spicy pineapple margarita. Both were amazing. Chips were warm and salsa was good. After we ordered, the food came out quick - shockingly so. Both my chicken tamale and Chile relleno were smothered in this amazing red sauce with nice chile flavor. The relleno had a very satisfying cheese pull and reminded me of what I used to get in Southern California. The chicken in the tamale was a little dry, but I used the red sauce to solve that problem real quick. The dish that I was a little disappointed in was the birria taco - the consomme was very oily and didn't have that depth of flavor that you expect from this dish. There also wasn't nearly enough cheese. The braised beef inside was very very tender and tasty, though. The Pollo Sinaloense - a thinly pounded and breaded chicken breast topped with chorizo and cheese - was unique and delicious, and nicely balanced with a little salad and Spanish rice. The restaurant itself is bigger than it looks from the outside and the booths are nice and comfy. Overall, this place exceeded our expectations. They seem to have a great happy hour and a huge menu, so we can't wait to return to try some more!

We booked a reservation and mentioned it being an anniversary for reasoning and they had a note at our table when we got sat down. It was a great little touch service wise that we appreciated. Which service wise our server was extremely friendly and explained specials and checked on us the right amount. Food and drink wise we started off with some cocktails to kick off our celebrating. My wife got the Blueberries & Bubbly which was blueberry infused Tito's and Prosecco with lemon and basil simple. It was a tasty drink, while I got their Strawberry-Jalapeño Margarita that was decent. It was quite strong booze wise and had a good strawberry flavor but lacked the heat I expected and had more of a pepper vegetal flavor. I would likely grab a different drink next time. We also got complimentary bread with olive oil, it was good. Then appetizer wise we wanted their Tomato & Basil Bruschetta that was fantastic! Lastly entree wise we were both wanting some pasta and settled on my wife getting Rigatoni Bolognese and me Gnocchi Mac & Cheese. The bolognese had a hearty sauce with a lot of depth of flavor thanks to beef and sausage and smoked bacon. The entree size was perfect amount for my wife. My gnocchi mac had a lot of crispy pork belly that was the second star of the dish after the well cooked gnocchi. I would say I'm not the average person portion wise so my words may not speak for many but I do wish the entree size portion for my dish was larger. Then to finish of our night we grabbed their peach and blueberry crisp for dessert. It was tasty with vanilla ice cream served beside it but both my wife and I wished it had more crumble or crisp to it. Overall though great dinner and we will keep this spot in mind for future meals. Worth checking out if you want a nice meal close to Portland but not in Portland.
