This year was mine to plan and we had a GREAT time! We LOVED the cabin and its proximity to Main Street. You can catch it here: https://youtube.com/@adventureswithmrhayes?si=Mi8ZSXvLpW7Nelzi Update: March 9, 2026 The first of the video series went live this past Saturday. After finding a couple of places closed, we called Barons Creekside. Best thing we ever did! We spoke to Lasca, who was actually out with her family for dinner Despite this, she got us set up in the cutest farmhouse, gave us directions and instructions to get in, and after her dinner was over, she stopped by to check if we needed anything. The excellent service did did not stop there. We were treated like family, and we really enjoyed walking the beautiful, scenic grounds and hanging out at "The Club" on property! Next time we go to Fredericksburg, we know where we will stay - at Barons Creekside!

My favorite was lemon and sugar ... i wished i could get these cookies shipped to my home. Hotel was clean and nice. When we were first sat, it was next to a bush that had so many bees. We asked a server to move but she stated all daybeds were taken (despite some being empty through our stay). We asked a second server our request again because we were unable to even sit on the daybed without bees swarming on us. This second server was able to move us with no issues. Upon arrival there were no towels, we had to ask multiple times before we received any. The food was served quickly thankfully and was pretty good- as well as our drinks. We ordered a pina colada and gin based drink. Both were good but it was way too hot to drink how we wanted. The turkey sandwich, guacamole and chips, and chicken tenders were also good and pretty standard. There was a separate adult pool on the lower deck that was a lot quieter than the general pool (and no kids) with better music. We know for next time to just order chairs here. Ending the night, it took at least 25 minutes for our final receipt to be given. I had to approach the bar area twice to ask what was going on. There seemed to be confusion on our pool tab and how to close our Resort Pass. Spending over $300, the experience could've been a lot better with quicker service. It was also hard to follow who was our server as we were greeted by 4-5 people through our time. I would consider coming here on a calmer day out of season if looking for a more relaxing experience. Plus to seeing the fireworks while leaving. The pools were a lot more enjoyable once the sun began to set which was around 7 (our stay was from 4-9).

Whether you're looking for a great business lunch or a family dinner, this is the place to be. The pretzel appetizer was incredible, and the grilled chicken salad was packed with flavor. The fresh, crispy fries were the perfect addition and clearly made with care. Every dish we tried was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. The service was attentive, friendly, and made the entire experience even better. If you haven't visited Tapatio before--or if it's been a while since your last visit--you owe it to yourself to give it a try. Highly recommend!

Food - La Cascada wasn't bad, but the menu selection was limited, and we had flies buzzing around while trying to eat, which wasn't great. Staff - Genuinely friendly and helpful, no complaints there. Facilities - A lot of the amenities were closed during our stay. The gym was open but pretty mediocre, basically on par with a standard hotel gym rather than a resort. And the golf course itself is closed until further notice, which was a huge letdown given that's supposed to be a main draw here. Vibe - It was dead when we visited (mid-July), and nothing much was really planned or going on for guests. It also felt like members got a bit more priority/attention around the course and events than resort guests did. Overall - Between the outdated rooms, small pools, limited facilities, and the course being closed, I wouldn't really recommend this for young couples looking for a lively getaway. Might work better for a quiet, low-key trip if you go in with low expectations.

This year's water level is historically low (since the 1960s), so direct swimming access to the water is nearly impossible. Boat ramp closed. However, the view is still spectacular. We also appreciate the grill spots -- we saw previous complaints about the grills -- honestly, we don't quite understand why they are being so picky with the public grill spots lol... I can tell they have tried their best to manage/clean. A/C works well, especially at night! Not much noise created. All the fire pits were upgraded and well-maintained. Some things to be careful with: 1/ Some weeds in the grass can be sticky and painful to pick off. Be careful walking in grass near the cabins (wear water shoes). 2/ Some dogs may be reactive to people/other dogs (barking). But everyone was very respectful. 3/ Didn't try the swimming pool; it looks a little muddy. 4/ Coffee station not working well. We noticed from others' reviews and brought our own coffee boiling pot with pour makers. They also didn't provide milk/coffee mate. 5/ Pillows are not quite comfortable.

And just like last time, it was a great stay. I'm not sure if I noticed their amenities last time or if they added on facilities in the last decade, but a few things to know: o There is a giant, we're talking massive swimming pool that's 3"5 deep all the way around. As a shawty, I appreciate that. There's plenty of seating, pergolas for much-needed shade. No restrooms at the pool. o Volleyball court o A main lodge area/event space, perfect for family reunions and such. o There's a "motel" also onsite. o It's dog-friendly, with a max of two dogs per cabin and a $25 deposit per pet per night. o Amazing sunsets, direct lake access for swimming or boating, grilling areas, and "The Point" which is a great spot for a nightcap and handing with friends/family. As for the cabins, once again our group reserved five of their six cabins that each come equipped with two decks overlooking Canyon Lake, a hot tub, multiple bedrooms, living spaces, fireplaces, full kitchens.... Note that some cabins may have a studio-style room with no wall. Our AC was kickin' and there was plenty of hot and cold water. Only gripe is the living room seating in our cabin, Cabin F. The chairs stunk like BO. My guess is that guest sit on them with wet river clothes... hope they steam them.
