Three days before the event, I received a text that I mistakenly thought was from the vendor I did choose -- there had been no communication from Austin Table and Chairs since the original quote. I signed the contract, unaware it was from them. On the day of the event, the venue manager informed me that two different companies had delivered tables and chairs. That's when I realized the mistake. I immediately contacted Austin Table and Chairs and asked them to come retrieve their items, which they did -- in the middle of the reception, causing a disruption during a carefully planned and deeply meaningful event. I've now paid three times what I budgeted for something that should have been straightforward. This entire situation could have been avoided with clearer, more timely communication. Sending a contract just days before an event after months of silence, with no confirmation or follow-up, feels like a tactic designed to confuse clients during an already stressful time. As someone who works in the hospitality industry, I expect vendors to understand how far in advance events are planned and how critical clarity and reliability are. Unfortunately, this experience felt more like a trap than a service, and I don't believe it reflects the care or professionalism clients deserve.
