Linda sold herself from our very first meeting. Angel was the first venue we toured, we went to two others after, but neither could compare to Angels beauty or Lindas charisma. She was there every step of the way to answer any questions I had or offer up suggestions when I was stumped. With her as my day of coordinator, I knew I didn't have to worry about anything. She was so helpful preparing for our wedding, and coordinating on the day of the event. Both of us have never been married before, and Linda was awesome to ask advice or bounce ideas off of. The bridal suite was not only perfect for the bridal party to get ready but also to allow the blushing bride some alone time before the ceremony. The weather cooperated but the event staff were prepared with tents if the ceremony needed to be moved at the last minute. The bathrooms were even stocked with emergency essentials should they be needed. A few of the guests had mobility challenges and the rustic walkways and loose gravel did present a bit of a challenge for some, but otherwise zero complaints.

I worked with Sophie to plan a surprise Roaring 20's-themed 30th birthday for my sister. I was…read morenervous planning this surprise party all the way from another state, but Sophie was fabulous to work with and I could not have done it without her. As a communication instructor, communication was the biggest priority for me and Sophie was a complete pro. Communication from start to finish was prompt and excellent! Sophie even brought up details that I hadn't even thought about. Her patience, kindness, and upbeat attitude made planning the party a breeze! For the party, MVTPC provided the catering, service, and decor--and there was loads of decor! From the gorgeous vintage teacups to amazing vintage bronze unicorn statute, my sister's house was transformed into a magical 1920's Gatsby mansion. I have to mention the food, which drew rave reviews from all party guests. We had french macaroons (in Lavender, Rose, and Pistachio flavors), croissants, quiche, chocolate mousse cups, and petit fours (champagne strawberry). The petit fours are not to be missed! We also had a punch station that featured an ice ring filled with fruit and flowers (side note: MVTPC does not supply alcohol, but will serve it for you. It was extremely easy and actually more cost efficient for us to buy our own booze anyway). Finally, I have nothing but the highest praise for the MVTPC staff. The hosts/hostesses were polite, prompt, friendly, and engaging. Setup and clean up were quick and efficient and didn't interrupt the party festivities at all! Every small detail down the food and decorations were, just as the name implies, marvelous! The theme was a 20s-style speakeasy which served finger sammies, several flavors of macaroons, and the biggest rave, petit fours decorated in edible glitter! There was much more food, as well, all of which were delectable! Her staff at my party, Dylan, Crystal, and Anna, made the entire event special! They cleaned, made sure food was replenished, and, most importantly, paid close attention to my guests needs! Funny enough, even though it's called Upstairs Circus, I kept calling it "Uptown Circus" for some reason and still do. My sister had been here once when she first moved to Austin, but it had been a while, so she was happy to go again. We tried to make a reservation for a Monday but found out they're closed that day unless it's a private event. So we ended up booking a Sunday evening during their Sangria Sundays event. Signing up online was quick and easy--no payment required upfront. When we arrived, we were seated at a table and given the option to sit side by side or across from each other. They handed us a laminated flyer with all the available project options, ranging from easy (about an hour) to more challenging projects that can take the full three-hour session. There was a good mix of household items (like coasters and magnetic shelves), jewelry, handbags, clutches, accessories, and even a pricier custom Nike shoe painting project. The sample projects looked very professional, but the final result really depends on your artistic skills and how focused you are during the session. My sister and I decided to pick different projects--she chose a handbag clutch, and I went with coasters. We got all our materials and instructions. One thing I noticed: this kind of activity is probably better suited for people who don't have a ton to catch up on while working. Since my sister and I hadn't seen each other for weeks, we were trying to talk and catch up, which made it harder for me to focus on the project. Some steps were time-sensitive, so juggling both conversation and crafting was a bit stressful. For my coaster project, I initially planned to use a stencil and transfer paper to trace a design, but it didn't work very well. I ended up switching to a simple two-color block design just to make sure I could finish in time. My sister's project was a bit more advanced--she had to do leather hole punching and threading--but she managed to finish and loved how her clutch turned out. Since it was Sangria Sunday, you get one complimentary sangria or mocktail with your reservation, and they keep a card on file if you want to order more drinks. I got a spicy cocktail that actually had really good flavor, even though I didn't finish it. Overall, this is a fun and unique activity if you want to do something creative with a friend or group. After the tour, I just knew that it was where my husband and I had to get married! Leading up to the wedding day, the team at Woodbine was very responsive and easy to work with when I had any questions. The getting ready space is absolutely stunning and it's nice to have a very clear separation of the bride and groom getting ready spaces so we didn't have any accidental run ins with eachother during the day. I loved being able to have distinct areas for each part of our wedding, with the ceremony being held on the front lawn, cocktail hour inside the mansion (although it ended up being a beautiful day outside so our guests opted to be outside), and then the beautiful clear top tent for our reception. We had a blue and white theme to our wedding, which the decor in the mansion perfectly complemented. The tables and chairs that woodbine has included are also great, there was no need to rent additional ones.

My son and daughter-in-law's wedding was absolutely gorgeous. People wondered throughout the bottom portion of the mansion for hors d'oeuvres and cocktail hour then the ceremony took place in front of the mansion outside and then the reception portion took place under a beautiful tent with lights on the side of the mansion. Julie manages the Mansion and she's an absolute pleasure to work with. The photographers that they hired were the best and took the most beautiful photos. The food that they had catered at the Mansion was just absolutely delicious, especially the mushroom empanadas. The DJ was the chief of police and he was very good at DJing - everyone had a great time! These recommendations I've made, I believe came from Julie as well. I highly recommend these ones that I've listed!!!! Thank you for such a beautiful place for our family to enjoy the wedding!
