    Break Southwest Breakfast Bowl
    Paul Z.

Always a fan of the breakfast bowl. The staff is always super friendly and the coffee hits the spot. Great ambiance and they are open early.

I came for brunch on a Wednesday and was surprised to see Toast wasn't empty for such an awkward time of day. I've been to a different Toast location and they're always good. I had the southwest breakfast bowl with a side of maple bacon and it was delicious. My husband had the pancake flight and the crab hash. We loved the pancakes, especially the lemon poppy one, but he didn't like the hash and said it was too "fishy." I tried it and it was fine, but I think it's canned crab and not fresh so that's probably why. Service was friendly and prices are great.

Typical breakfast environment. Great service. Manager checked in on us once food arrived. Food was overall good. Had a hiccup with one of the pancakes on the flight and the manager completely removed it from the bill. This establishment definitely caters to the customer.

This was my first time here. I've known about this place for years. This is a small cozy place. It's clean and bright. There is outdoor seating when weather permits. The staff are friendly & the food is good. Any place that serves drinks in a mason jar is a great place to go. I've read some of the 1* reviews. Honestly those reviews have no merit. There were people ordering take out. The noise level is average for a small place. There were families & friends eating. There is ZERO JUDGEMENT!!

Incredible lemon poppyseed pancakes (we added strawberries) - doesn't even need syrup.

Solid go-to brunch place in Asbury Park. They have a great mix of healthy and indulgent dishes. Pancakes are amazing and they let you order a single, short stack or full stack of any specialty pancake. Food is always tasty, service has always been pleasant. They get very busy on summer weekends, I try to go weekdays or at the non-peak times for the best experience.

Toast is solid. It's also popular. So if you're looking to have breakfast with 10 people (including four children) on a prime summer weekend, you should probably get there before 9 am. Luckily, getting places before 9 am with small children is easy, because I've already been up for hours at that point. I rolled with what the staff told me was a new Southwestern breakfast bowl, and I thought it was good. Avocado, potatoes, veggies...I think there needs to be at least two eggs in this thing instead of one, but you could basically throw anything in a bowl with that chipotle mayo and I'd eat it all. Definitely add chorizo. Always add chorizo. Because I'm a glutton, I also shared some corned beef hash with my wife. Unpopular opinion: I love canned corned beef hash. More so than most homemade versions, this one included. However, it was still good, just needed more salt, pepper, and hot sauce. I could say that about most food though (I want the whole world to be properly seasoned). The staff was unfailingly nice, especially since we had multiple birthdays at the table. That said, some extra napkins would really have been appreciated earlier, as my younger daughter is an absolute savage. And even after we asked again, I have to say two isn't really sufficient, again because she's a SAVAGE. The more napkins you give me, the less mess I leave. I'm trying to help us both out here.

We were seated quickly enough. Poor tea selection. Bathroom had toilet paper all over the floor. The dining room also had paper on the floor. The food came out in a reasonable time. The pancakes were good, but had a cake flavor. The Southwestern Bowl was OK. The dressing did not pair well with the avocado. The service was fine based on the fact that it was so busy.

Belgian Waffle, Red Velvet Pancakes, Turkey Bacon, Bacon. And 2 Egg Any Style platter
    Yuri S.

Went here early on a Saturday morning with a friend for breakfast after being on the beach. We had stopped for coffee beforehand and the hostess rudely said we couldn't bring our outside drinks in which was fine but her tone of voice was off-putting. The menu is very diner style with a couple of special flavored items. I got the Belgian waffle with a side of turkey bacon which was okay. My friend got the eggs platter with bacon which was good. We split red velvet pancake which was the star of the whole show. It was nice that they put the cream on the cheese. The service was okay.

    Eggs Benny
    Suzette S.

Got the eggs Benny. Potatoes over fried and under seasoned. Didn't eat potatoes. Eggs Benny were okay. Had to ask for coffee refill. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Like the decor. Previous visits, enjoyed the stuffed French toast. Metered street parking.

    Brookdale Cheesesteak French Fries

I encourage you to go somewhere else. For the price and quality, this really isn't worth it. Cheesesteak had more bread than meat and veggies. Cheap meat with a lack of flavor. French fries had no seasoning. Carrot cake pancakes were flavorful but got really dull and boring to eat halfway through. After a while you're just kinda tired of eating them. Side of bacon was good and crispy. On top of the lackluster food, prices are more expensive because it's on the main strip in Asbury. A lot of better places to spend your money.

    Yogurt & Granola Bowl
    Maureen F.

We loved this place! Ambiance and clientele were casual, welcoming, chique and not fussy. The service and food were very good. We had the chicken sandwich (delish), Mediterranean salad (simple, fresh, yummy), huevos rancheros were so flavorful & hit the spot! The kids also had waffles & home fries all perfect and the yogurt parfait was spot on! Definitely worth the stop. Some items ordered not pictured.

    Southwest bowl

All and all I enjoyed my breakfast. My egg was overcooked so barely any yolk and the bowl could use another one and less potatoes but the flavor was really good. A toast and eggs option would be good verses having potatoes also. My husband's toast didn't come out for a while. The coffee is awful and expensive. Georgia was very sweet. I would go back for sure but there were some cons. Menu looks fun and the aesthetic is cute!

Avocado Toast with lox (just so so)
    Doug D.

Toast is a busy, trendy-looking brunch place in the heart of the restaurant district in Asbury Park. I have walked by it for years but never went in because it was always so crowded. We finally went recently. The food ended up being no better than just an average diner's food. We weren't impressed with the cleanliness or the atmosphere either. The service seemed distant and uncaring. The overall vibe feels commercialized and corporate. We would not go back.

    Ask the Community - Toast

If you make a cup of tea, do you run the water over the tea bag or leave it on the side with lukewarm water?

I put the tea bag in an empty cup. Fill it with water, then microwave it for 3-4 minutes. This way you get the most flavor out of the tea bag. I don't suggest filling the cup first.

She recommended Cardinal Provisions, which had a great menu, so onward we went. It was perhaps major hubris on my end to show up at 11am and not expect a 1.5 hour wait. Well, we put our names down and took a walk to the Boardwalk. We ended up heading back a little before the 1.5 hour mark because the website where I was tracking our progress on the waitlist stopped working. We were seated at an outside table, but it was way too sunny, so I asked to be moved. They were able to accommodate us within 10-15 minutes. My mom and I opted to split two dishes, because neither of us could decide on what to order. We had the Cacio e Pepe Scrambled Eggs with breakfast sausage and garlic toast, and the Blueberry Skillet Cake with blueberry salted honey butter. First of all, our waiter did warn us that the skillet cake was huge, but we still wanted it anyways. It was, indeed, huge. But so good. Like a fluffy cake. The Cacio e Pepe eggs were phenomenal and I need to figure out how to make these at home. Service was attentive without being overbearing and we were never rushed. I think coming after 1pm is definitely the best time, since there were significantly less people waiting.

We were seated right away on a Thursday afternoon on their front sidewalk patio. I ended up ordering the Green Machine bowl (normally vegan and gluten free) but added grilled chicken to it. It was delicious! A combo of roasted broccoli, warm lentils, parsley pesto, avocado, and marinated kale. Everything was cooked perfectly, and while this is basically something I make on rotation at home, I loved the pesto sauce and will definitely be trying to replicate that on my own. Perfect lunch that left my full and not even a little sluggish. They do have a few drinks on the menu like kombucha, cold brew, and sodas, but if you are looking for anything more than that in the coffee arena, you'll need to pop by a neighboring cafe afterwards. Service was friendly but not too fast. It was a busy day and we were in no rush, so we didn't mind. All in all, a great place for a delicious brunch.
