We've gone here a couple of times and the food is always good. I'm glad that they have options for different dietary requirements. We normally get takeout and sit in the park, but service is good when we have gone in, slightly less good when you're sitting outside. Avocado, potatoes, veggies...I think there needs to be at least two eggs in this thing instead of one, but you could basically throw anything in a bowl with that chipotle mayo and I'd eat it all. Definitely add chorizo. Always add chorizo. Because I'm a glutton, I also shared some corned beef hash with my wife. Unpopular opinion: I love canned corned beef hash. More so than most homemade versions, this one included. However, it was still good, just needed more salt, pepper, and hot sauce. I could say that about most food though (I want the whole world to be properly seasoned). The staff was unfailingly nice, especially since we had multiple birthdays at the table. That said, some extra napkins would really have been appreciated earlier, as my younger daughter is an absolute savage. We had stopped for coffee beforehand and the hostess rudely said we couldn't bring our outside drinks in which was fine but her tone of voice was off-putting. The bread was toasted to perfection, and the avocado was mashed just right. The waffles were light and fluffy, and the perfect amount of crispy on the outside served with fresh berries and whipped cream. You can't go wrong with any of them. The menu is extensive, with plenty of options for all tastes and optional dietary needs, plus perfect lattes! Their lunch menu is pretty solid as well, no complaints here. Went with the Cheesesteak and that came out spectacular. Want to stop back around to try their burgers next time I'm in town. The service and wait staff were excellent and quick to fill my coffee and water as needed. They seemed to work a lot of tables, but that's to be expected on a busy Sunday. Our server Colin, who I will say is a superstar, came out to greet us, introduce us to the menu, take our starting beverage orders and get us set up for our brunch experience. After a few questions and asking Colin for his recommendations as first-timers at Toast, we arrived upon our brunch dishes. I had the harvest wrap- Roasted turkey, brie cheese, Granny Smith apples, maple bacon, and cranberry aïoli in a whole wheat wrap with a side salad instead of fries for me and my wife had the huevos rancheros- Two corn tortillas layered with egg whites, cotija cheese, cilantro, tomatillo sauce, frijoles served with sour cream on the side and we actually did get the tri meat mix which added a nice touch of extra flavor. luckily they were able to substitute in egg whites and added avocado for a really nice topper. This is the second time I have visited this restaurant. I'm still not impressed. I feel like it's just like the majority of the other restaurants on the cookman strip, overly gentrified. I really did not enjoy the menu options, a lot of extra toppings, that I would have to say I don't want and end up paying for. But if I get the "basic" egg breakfast, I'm overpaying for some eggs, potatoes, and toast. I finally settled on the challah bread French toast and the waiter tried to upsell me on a meat. No I do not want to pay $5.50 more for sausages I'm not going to like. I split an order of pancakes with a friend, they were too sweet. I didn't use the syrup. They tasted and smelled like they add cake batter to the mix. I ended up stealing the rest of the southwest breakfast bowl, which was slightly overdressed. I also don't understand why there is corn involved besides wanting to name it southwest. Overall the food was just ok.
