Wow - we could not believe we would have a bad experience ever here, but Saturday we did. So sad as we are here visiting family and carved out a time to sneak over here. I can safely say we were not the only unsatisfied table around us. We were quickly seated and nicely greeted. It took 15 minutes for our server to stop by, so we went ahead and ordered our meal and coffee at the same time. We had to ask another server to bring us coffee and they were happy to oblige. My wife got her Shrimp and grits but they never brought me my bacon fried rice. I had to wave another server down to look for it. 15 minutes later I got my dish after my wife had already ate hers. The exact same thing happened at the two tables near us where one got food and the other didn't. I was not going to leave a generous tip as the issue was service and not the kitchen. However, we got our bill for two people and they automatically added a 20% gratuity. No way was that service worth it. I've been to the Birmingham and Ferndale location and the wait is equally long. They don't take reservations over the phone but are prompt to help upon arrival. The food is always so good! I met up for brunch on a Wednesday with one of my friends so we started off with a mimosa. There's a few different ways to customize your mimosa and they're quite tasty. Today I tried the wild mushroom and sage biscuits and gravy, something I've never even seen on the menu here before! I usually go for the breakfast burrito or chicken and waffles. The omelette wasn't bad at all by any means. It was actually delicious, I had the havarti cheese, sausage, bacon, and mushrooms in it. It was drowning in toppings, which is just the way I like it. I've been here many times and have had mostly bad experiences. My last visit was on my birthday and service was horrible. The waitress couldn't decide which table she wanted to serve and kept going back and forth in the middle of our order. We were brought the wrong item. The whole dining experience was too long. This restaurant gives me negligent owner vibes. My guess is the owner is a wealthy alcoholic that stays content as long as the money keeps coming in (I'm sure it does). At the same time I get the feeling this place is probably owned by a restaurant group that has a hard time keeping track of all restaurants they own. Staff needs some training and that's really upper management and the owner's fault. This is really the classic case of mediocre food disguised under the facade of cryptic menu descriptions and culinary buzzwords, while still trying to give the illusion of being relatable to the customer. Items like "petosky" and "Cabo San Lucas".
