I am not into biscuits and gravy, but I am into this place! Cute, small, locally owned cafe that specializes in breakfast and lunch. We got there 10 minutes after opening on a Sunday morning and they were already packed. There was a line out the door by 9 am. Lots of choices for breakfast - skillets, omelettes, breakfast tacos, corned beef hash, etc. My veggie skillet was too heavy on the potatoes and light on the veggies, but it tasted great. I really love their menu. They are a standalone building with their own parking. But they are very busy. For the most part, the staff is very friendly. We stopped here for breakfast on the way to the Royal Oak area and I saw that it had good reviews so I thought it would be worth a shot. It's not very large inside, but we were able to get seated immediately and it was a Friday morning. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful and I ended up getting the healthy omelette and it came with vegetables, egg whites, chicken, and potatoes on the side that were very tasty. I asked for dry rye, but they put butter on my rye toast, which I didn't eat anyways. My friend got a western omelette and he liked his omelette and the potatoes very much. This was my first time at the Clawson location after previously visiting the Canton one, so I was excited to try! I ordered the Mediterranean skillet, lemon pancakes, and a side of biscuits and gravy. Yes, this was a heavy breakfast! The Mediterranean skillet had plenty of feta, which I LOVED but it was dry overall. There was no sauce to really bring everything together. I even got eggs over medium and the egg yolk did not add much creaminess. It was good, just not my favorite thing I've eaten. The lemon pancakes were absolutely unreal. Sooo fluffy and the cream cheese frosting was incredible. I would 100% recommend them. I also tried a side of biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was very thick, which was not my favorite, but the gravy itself was amazing, but it's the white super peppery kind, which I know is not everybody's favorite! Again, just kind of dry, even with the gravy. The service was good, and for a Saturday around 11 AM, the 20 minute wait was totally reasonable. Finally made it to this place, I had been driving through it and was always trying to see what the food will be like here as such. We ordered breakfast quesadillas, blueberries cheesecake French toast and also lox Benedict. All the orders were well made and service was good too. French toast though was delicious but it didn't feel like bread or toast anywhere but more like a piece of dough lump. I do however have to go back here again sometime to try their tiramisu pancakes Considering that there is a waiting here before 10am told us how famous this place can be on a weekend. Went for our first time, and will not be coming back or recommending that anyone else bother. Egg shells all throughout our eggs benedict, not a small piece, nearly half the shell. When we mentioned it to the server she asked to take the plate and went to the kitchen. Came back and said that they'd remake it which we didn't want, then said (without us requesting anything) that because more than 50% had been eaten that they "could not" take anything off the bill, not even partially, that was apparently the owner's policy. Update: I still absolutely love this place and hands down their biscuits are the best. Fluffy and moist; a little spicy sausage gravy for some pizzazz. They biscuit cut is a large portion so I usually go for a one biscuit with gravy and a poached egg on the top. Perfection! Parking situation update, seems they have an agreement to let people park in the Main Street Kitchen lot along the south side of their building. This opens up a lot of parking options since their actual lot is always full and a dead end so it's awkward to maneuver your exit if you don't find a spot. Also post office on a Sunday is also available. Or the city hall lot we've done on holidays or weekends. We've almost always gone as a pair and been able to get seating during the in between times of breakfast and lunch; some say brunch on weekdays or after the lunch rush around 1pm. During the summer the few tables outside have been empty so we snag those. Food is quick and coffee or orange juice are very good. This place is a gem and they do a great job with dine in and take out. read more

Typically RV cakes are super cakey/decadent which is great but these were proper pancakey while maintaining their red velvety-ness which was an interesting and nice change of pace. First things first, don't be dismayed about the lack of parking here. If you have to park on the main street or slightly further it will be worth it. Hours are basically till 3pm with a great menu of breakfast items and lunches too. We opted for breakfast which was a meat lovers skillet for my friend and a homemade biscuit. Both excellent. If you are in the Detroit area, this is a must try. We were visiting our son in Troy and he brought us here. It is an extremely small place. We came twice while visiting. First on a Saturday and the following week on Sunday. It was full, but we were seated pretty quickly. The service was friendly and top notched both times. All the food we tried was excellent. I wish I could give a 0 star review. I don't usually give reviews but I had to with how bad this experience was. We've been to this place several times since opening and every time, our experience has gotten worse and worse. We went yesterday for my Mother's Day and that was the last straw and won't be coming to dine in again. I've never had such a horrible experience going out to restaurant in my life. Although the food is good. We may only stick with carry out from now on if we even decide to come back again. First off, we were first to come in and was immediately seated. Cool. As the restaurant slowly filled, our server didn't greet us basically until the whole place was filled which wasn't quick to begin with. When she finally came by (knowing we already knew what we wanted cuz it took so long to be greeted plus we were repeat customers) she took off so quickly after placing our drink order, we didn't get a chance to order. She gave us such an attitude right off the bat when we just ordered one coffee and 5 waters for a party of 5!! Several minutes later, she finally brings our water and again took off without taking our order. By the time we placed our order, it felt like the entire restaurant (that was a full house at this point) had had their orders in. We didn't get straws with our water (which isn't a big deal but wanted to note it). We were waiting and noticed all the tables that came after us get their food. We (and I'm not exaggerating at all) were the last table to get our food and three of the five meals were wrong! I ordered the country Benedict with grits. She gave me potato's. Again not a big deal but when she took it back, they just scraped the potatoes on to my husband's plate leaving me with barely any gravy because it was all slid onto his!. Again, we were frequent customers so I know they give you a lot of gravy. My daughter ordered raspberry stuffed French toast and surprise! She was given coconut. Thank goodness she wasn't allergic! This entire time we didn't check on us or apologize for the waits or mistakes in our meals. I work in the restaurant industry so I know how hard they work, and am generous with our tip even it wasn't a great experience. It was extremely hard for me to be generous with this server. And I'm not saying this to be mean because I don't know her name but this server is the dark brown hair that's on the bigger side. Again, I'm not describing her to be mean but to have y'all aware to request a different server if you get her! I tried so hard to give her the benefit of a doubt but crap after crap, attitude and neglect? it's like this experience wasn't believable ! This was a really lousy start to my Mother's Day! I really love this place. I go here frequently and always order their biscuits and gravy, huevos rancheros, and recently just tried the cinnamon swirl pancakes. Cannot emphasize enough how delicious all of these items were!!! The portions are also HUGE with very affordable prices. I always go home with enough food for an entire second meal. I think maybe my expectations were set too high. Biscuits and gravy are tricky to serve. You have to keep the gravy warm and the biscuits fresh AND warm. My order of biscuits and gravy were not hot, neither the biscuits nor the gravy. The biscuits weren't the flaky kind they were the cakey kind. Not my favorite, but other reviewers have commented on this so it was not a surprise. Again, it's hard to serve these items when you're serving so many and have them stay fresh and hot. Do yourselves and your patrons a favor; have your gravy held at a higher temperature and have the servers portion it on the biscuits right before they take to the table. If your going to call your restaurant Biscuits and Gravy, the you need to up your game. My omelette was a simple folded griddle omelette that was flat and unseasoned, not a terribly pleasant omelette experience. The coffee was hot and fresh so that's a plus. The service was terrific so that's another plus. The ambience was good, but the value was so-so. So-So seems to apply here. read more

I went on a Friday afternoon. As others have said, it's tiny. But the service and the food are amazing. I liked it so much that I went there the following week as well -- something I rarely do! The first time, I had a country omelette, biscuit and grits. I'd only had grits once before, but I figured that, since potatoes were in the omelette, I didn't need more of them. Best decision!
