I've been here a few times, have ordered different things each time, and have not ever been impressed. I'm not a picky eater. However, I do believe that if I'm going to pay these prices for food, it had better be more than mediocre, and it isn't. Also, I have NEVER experienced good customer service here. The wait staff appears bored, and they act like it's such a pain to serve you. Also, the owner is extremely rude. She basically walks around glaring at her staff and customers, rolling her eyes all the time. Food is yummy....2 problems- site says good for groups and no reservations....wish that was true! Brought a group of 10-15 and knew ahead of time that NO reservations were available, but told to arrive early to put my tables together. Arrived to see a reservation in the entire back room! I went here on a Friday afternoon, with a friend. Wasn't busy at all, sat ourselves and our waiter was quick and did a good job. I have been here a few times before and have been impressed each time. First your drinks come in a Mason jar, which I am all for. Then the menu has favorites for everyone from deli sandwich's, salads to your typical burgers, to fun and different burgers. I decided on the Hawaiian burger, which had pineapple salsa, spicy capicola and Swiss on a toasted ciabatta bun. OH MY. It was amazing, and it wasn't an overload of spicy or odd flavors. It was the perfect combination of all ingredients to equal an amazing burger. The fries were also quite good. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have sweet potato fries when I asked, however, the plain fries were very good. The atmosphere is a coffee house (which they are also)/bar/restaurant. This does make it a very fun, open, and relaxed atmosphere. I would highly recommend the Toast to anyone and might I suggest trying one of their fun burgers! Next on my list to try is the PB and Bleu burger or the Thai burger. read more

So excited when I met a manager of Toast at their sister/brother/cousin restaurant (Ledbelly) and she informed me my days of eating at Ruby Tuesday were OVAH!!! Apparently this 4 yr old restaurant is about a 10 min drive from my house and I had no idea! So exciting. Great selection on the menu - everything from smoked salmon quesadillas to Thai burgers to peanut butter & bacon. That's some serious range y'all. My first night here I had my go-to... grilled salmon with veggies & rice. I would normally go with mashed potatoes (if I were at Ruby Tuesday of course) but apparently Toast's go-to is rice. Cool with me.) It was actually the Chef's special - honey glazed salmon vs plain old regular salmon and it was recommended to me by 3 of the employees there. They didn't steer me wrong. This is what I like most about Toast. It looks cool. Hard wood bar & booths in the center of the restaurant - large but not obnoxious TV's placed throughout - and assorted wooden table tops and chairs. It just looks cool. But everyone that I encountered there my first night (including one of the owners) didn't act cool. They weren't snobby, "Hey...we work in a really cool looking restaurant". They weren't pretentious. They, true to Lincolnites, (such a made up word I think), were nice & accommodating. They made me feel welcome & wanted. And the regulars that were at the bar (single ladies always eat at the bar) were also nice & welcoming. Starts at the top, eh? Good wine list. (I'm all about the wine) & kitchen stays open until 10. a nice little deli place :) very cool atmosphere and a lot of the furniture comes with a history from all parts of Lincoln. very interesting selection of dishes some ordinary and others with interesting twists. i highly recommend people to go here read more

It was my first time dining at Toast and I was very disappointed in the server. It was just the two of us at 1:50pm on a Sunday and we ordered our drinks and one salad. The drinks came in a timely manner but the two tables beside us ordered hot entrees (2 per table) after we ordered and they received their food before our one cold salad had yet to be served. We waited patiently but then after 25 minutes after we ordered it we had to ask them to put it in a to go box (when it was ready of course, because they still had not brought it to our table). The server immediately brought the salad in the to go box and the bill. Nothing had been taken off the bill and she did not apologize for the wait. The guy at the table beside us even commented as to how long it took seeing as we ordered before them. When she came back to take the credit card I asked her what the hold up was with the salad and she said something about other larger tables. She offered to take the drinks off the bill and we said that would be great, thank you. When she returned she apologized for the late salad but then said "it wasn't that long of a wait". I don't think I will be returning to Toast. UPDATE: 4 days after I posted this review, the owner sent me a nice message offering to pay for the salad and offered a gift card as well. read more

Everything we ordered was universally excellent, but we enjoyed the Carrot Ginger Curry soup so much for dinner that we made a special trip back the next day for lunch to have some more, before leaving town. Wish we lived closer, so we could eat here more often. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant on and off for the more than two years I've lived in the neighborhood--at first I was in love, and now I have become disenchanted. The food is really, really good. I have almost never had a dish, drink or coffee here I didn't like. My favorites are the Primetime sandwich and the Veggie Burger, and my least favorite is the Salmon Quesadilla (too cream-cheesy and messy). For the most part, though, the food is far above average. What really downgrades this place to a two (and what has hindered my patronage) is the service. It starts from the second you enter the beautiful place--you can't really tell if you are supposed to head up to the counter to order, seat yourself at a table and order, or wait to be seated. There are no signs or friendly faces that tell you which way to go, not to mention the protocol changes each time you return. Once you finally are seated (assuming this is one of the times you are to seat yourself), you can usually find yourself waiting an embarrassingly long time for one of the wait staff to notice you, especially if there are lots of "the usuals" in the establishment. The wait staff actually used to be quite friendly and attentive, but they have been replaced by flighty and inconsiderate employees who act like they are doing you a favor to even give you a menu, let alone take your order and bring you food and beverages. Not only that, but I actually had one waiter say to me and my friend that he was "mad at the kitchen" and was saving all of the orders he had taken so they would get it all at once, as well as complain to us that he hadn't gotten his smoke break yet--if I were the owner, I would be mortified to have employees like this. Overall this place has amazing potential with the food and atmosphere to make it five stars--the only thing holding it back is its lack of customer service. Change that, and I'm coming back. read more

i've been here many times. the food is always solid. the service is always excellent. my friends and i asked if one of the tvs could be switched to the ufc fights, as we were the only patrons in the back of the restaurant. we were informed that the owners "didn't approve" of the ufc, and therefore we weren't allowed to watch the event. as a martial artist, i found this very offensive. i definitely won't be back. read more

Heard a lot of good things about this place. My dinner was served on an ice cold plate like it came out of the cooler. The food became cold before I could eat half of it. I asked the server why my plate was so cold and she just said "hmmm that's wierd" before walking off. The food was average, She told me my dinner would be spicy, which I love, and it wasn't spicy at all. All the reviews are good so maybe I just went on the wrong night. My family and I went to Toast in May of 2013. Seemed to be a very happening place around supper time. I had some kind of pork fritter which was OK. It came with some bland pasta side. Wasn't overly impressed with my meal. My wife and dad both had items that looked alot better than mine. My wife had a chicken dish and my dad had the french dip. Both looked great. The kids menu was somewhat limited and the chicken chunks and french fries were OK. They didn't eat the chicken chunks as they were so crispy and hard on the outside, a 2 and 4 year old just couldn't take them on. We ended up getting them some nuggets from McD's after we left. The best attributes of this place were the atmosphere and decor. read more

OMG! I have no words! SH8T from start to finish! Bad service, never got my foods they told me IT FELL ON THE FLOOR and never offered ANYTHING just wait longer, IT NEVER CAME!!! One of the professors had to be back at 2pm so they brought it TO GO and didn't offer to comp at all, that had to be asked about it. My little family just adores Toast! Great coffee/tea (from The Mill, if you are familiar with Lincoln coffee:), great food, especially now with the expanded menu, and great options for snacking (Dairy Store ice cream, fun cupcakes, good appetizers). And Fallbrooke is such a pretty setting. And if you're curious, really good vegetarian options...a very tasty veggie burger is always a priority for me and they have it!! stopped in here on a weekend a couple of weeks ago. The place was not busy but not slow so about average. we wanted to go somewhere to end the night and picked here. the guy behind the counter was very rude and demeaning. We had to cram in at the end of the bar, uncomfortable, later finding out that the bar was taken over completely by employees that just got off. very unproffesional. we waited about 15 minutes after our drinks were completely finished to get the bartenders attention for our ticket because he was too busy mingling with his employees. At one point a table of 5 came over and complained that noone ever came after they ate and they forgot about them. the bartender had to comp the entire table. needless to say we had one drink and ended our night at Schillingbridge with much better customer service. read more

Just got back from my second trip. I didn't love it the first time but decided to try it again. Big mistake! i ordered the antipasto plate and a tomato dill soup. The soup was pretty tasty but the antipasto plate was a big disappointment. Instead of salami, like the menu said, i got chunks of summer sausage that did not even closely resemble salami and was certainly not the typical thinly sliced salami I was expecting. The menu also stated it came with a caprese salad. Once again - not what I was expecting. it was grape tomatoes sliced in half with garlic and seasonings. i mentioned to the waitress (who, incidentally, was very sweet) that she might want to let the chef know that caprese salads also have fresh mozzarella cheese in it . She told me she would tell the owner. Shortly thereafter, the owner came over and when I told her that a caprese salad should have fresh mozzarella in it and that it reminded me more of a bruschetta she became very nasty and defensive and stated it was their interpretation. I was trying to be helpful but instead of saying ANYTHING nice, I was being chastised by the owner. My dining companion and i were totally dumbfounded by her rudeness. I will never go back again. read more
