What an extremely disappointing final visit to this location that had become a true tradition to visit on my rather frequent visits to Miami. Bartender (at bar) poured some water and stated he'd be back in a moment to take order. Fifteen minutes later still nothing. There were two bartenders and (seemingly) a bar manager available. Lots of idle chit-chat and even juggling bar fruit. When finally asked, "Would you like something else" I explained I'd received nothing, and that fault was put back on me. The beverage I received was great. Excellent. My credit card, placed on bar napkins to indicate ready to close out, was ignored for another fifteen minutes. I filled the time enjoying the Final 4 March Madness game. No conversation whatsoever from anyone, including no Thanks. I was seemingly viewed as nothing more than a butt in a seat. I accept that. I've lived in Brickell for 2 years and walk by Kush everyday but have not tried it until today and boy was I missing out on a great neighborhood bar! So, for Brickell it's cheap eats! Additionally, I had to knock off 1 star for the worst Banana Cream pie; I was devastated-LOL! I don't usually order desserts. Except, when it's banana. This is a review for the key lime pie. It's delicious. Def worth a try. I was looking for a place to try key lime pie at 10:45 PM on a week night, and I saw that their menu said their key lime pie is award-winning and made from scratch. They close at 2 AM. I'm glad I got to try the pie. The crust had bits of pecans/walnuts? I tasted coconut flakes in my first bite, but not really later in the slice, so it made me wonder if they used the same knife on a different pie or maybe they keep the pies in the same plate/area. I've only ever had the fried mushrooms there, which have a delicious garlic aioli unlike any you've tried before. Seriously addicting. If I could rate this place higher I would. The food is SO FRESH and tasty and the drinks are incredible but the highlight for us was the wonderful bartender/server named Tony. He is a gem and a rare fine. Just a genuine good person with care and love in his heart and a passion for what he does. We would stay here just for this wonderful guy! I forgot to take a photo, but what a beautiful presentation! It was portobello mushrooms sliced, battered, and then deep fried. They arrived to the table temperature hot and they were such a wonderful appetizers and the dipping sauce complimented the mushrooms perfectly. Highly recommend. Beer: Kaptain Kush is a complex mango pale ale. It has a light mango taste and not overly sweet. It has a slight brown ale after taste, but very refreshing beer. I said a 10 oz because I already drank plenty that evening. She charged me the $9 plus tax and gave me $8 in change for my $20 bill. This year Halloween fell on a weekend, and I was caught unprepared. I owed my friend Michelle a birthday dinner, and we agreed on Tobacco Road as a casual and fun stop for a bite. I managed to SCARE up a last minute 50's dude costume (white tshirt, jeans, sneaks and spiky hair), and off to Brickell I went. (Granted, I had been to Kush's REINCARNATION of Tobacco Road once or twice before, I believe after a Yelp event in the Brickell area and had a similar fun experience.) This place gets major points for nostalgia. I believe Matt Kuscher (owner of the Kush name) managed to preserve a lot of the original posters & furniture, as he has done with that other classic Hialeah restuarant he "Kusherized" and where I celebrated a birthday. Doing all that, he modernized it and added tasty bar cuisine. Michelle enjoyed, and let me taste, the deliciously smoky Kush Frita burger. With their real guava seasoning, it is definitely one of my favorite burgers! I changed it up, going for their BBQ chicken sandwich. Lathered in a sweet sauce, the chicken patty was juicy and well seasoned and wonderfully messy. The mix of sweet potato & regular fries was nicely crispy. A jiggly & not overly sweet key lime pie indulged my sweet tooth and substituted for "birthday cake". For me this place is definitely a hidden gem. Went here yesterday for a quick lunch. It was pretty empty so me and my boyfriend were a little worried that the food wasn't good lol, but we was wrong. Ordered the nachos and added bbq chicken, they were so good. Each layer was covered with toppings. Next we ordered Buffalo wings and we got lemon pepper on top with a side of fries. The wings were a nice size, cooked good and crispy. My only complaint was that the fries were really salty but that can be fixed. I believe all their sauces are homemade (blue cheese, ranch, and honey mustard). Lastly we got the key lime pie and OMG the crust was a nice thick crust. It was soooo good . There is a Yelp check in offer that is advertised on their Yelp page but when I tried to use it the fine print stated it wasn't available until July 1st??? I visited on 4/21 so I think it's a smidge too soon to have that check in offer posted on their Yelp page. Bartenders were attentive. However, once we got the check I was surprised to see we were upcharged $4 for getting a (what I assumed to be a standard) pint over a 12oz.
