This is a terrific nail spa! I generally get a pedicure with non-chip polish. They have an amazing selection of colors. The prices are very reasonable. I ask for Huyen because I really like her technique and she does a really good job for me. Sometimes I want to chat, and sometimes not. She always picks up on my preference and respects it. I can always get an appointment very promptly and I never have to wait. I recommend Today Nail Spa very highly. read more

DO NOT GO HERE ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTER!!! I took my wife to get her nails done at Today Nail Spa in Grayslake. She slipped on the ice in front of their door and fell. The employees inside just looked. I got out of my car and helped her get up and took her inside. I told them that they should put salt outside and the manager, Cindy, just said that they have a service that puts down salt. Cindy didn't ask how my wife was doing or anything. She and the other two employees just kept working on their customer. My wife has been going there over 5 years (every 3 weeks appointments). She is extremely disappointed that Cindy did not acknowledge her falling by asking if she was okay. I told her to leave and never go back there again. She is still very sore. I am highly disappointed, they never have ANY availability. I believe that it's a major staffing issue, not an issue of being busy. They also have a sign in their window saying "walk-ins welcome", that is not the case whatsoever. I always call to make sure that I don't have to drive all the way there then be told that they do not have any appointments available, and they are apparently fully booked every single time i've tried to go? I just got my nails and eyebrows done here. I do NOT recommend this place. This is the worst manicure I have ever gotten in my life. My cuticles were left dry and sore. The color is not uniform and is out of the lines (I understand short nails are hard to paint, especially with a dark color- but he didn't correct the mistakes). That indent on my pointer finger was made by him and he didn't fix it, and at that point I decided it wasn't even worth asking him to since I plan to remove the polish when I get home. This isn't even the polish I chose but I decided to give it a go rather than correct him (I'm awkward in situations like this). My eyebrows were really nicely done, though. read more

Sorry, Today Nail Spa, I think we're breaking up after a great run of a year. I recently made an appointment for a no-chip manicure and a pedicure. When I arrived, they seemed surprised and confused, though I'd only made the appointment a few hours before. They started with the manicure, which seemed like a logistically poor choice. No-chip manicures dry with UV light so it's pretty quick with little chance of smudging. Had they started with the pedicure, it could have dried considerably while I was getting the manicure. Anyway, I got the no-chip manicure (my first) and was immediately pleased. It looked nice, but less than a week later, it was already peeling and pulling away from my nail. Not cool for a manicure that costs twice as much as standard. Also, when he finished, he pulled out his phone and started texting/emailing/whatever and made no move toward the pedicure chair. I loitered awkwardly for a couple of minutes and then finally walked to the front to pay. If you don't want me to spend more money, that's your problem. read more

Terrible with eyebrows. I've had my eyebrows done for many years and they always turn out very nice EXCEPT when I have them done at Today Nail Spa in Grayslake. If you want eyebrows that will be beautiful and get you many compliments- do NOT have them done here. They will remove most of your eyebrows and make them uneven EVERY time no matter what you tell them. I'm not the only one who has realized that. They do what they want, not what the customer wants, and only know that one method. Manicures and pedicures are ok. However, unfortunately the nails bend at the corners in a few days if you do gel. At other nail spas they do not. Dip may be better. I've gone back once or twice a year for the last 9ish years to see if things changed, but they never do. read more

I have been going to Today Nail Spa for atleast 5 years. I would say that 99% of my experiences have been good. Sure, everyone once a while a they hire a nail tech who is not so hot, but I found that if that is the case the tech doesn't last long. Service has been consistent, staff friendly and end results are quality good at a fair price. My services are regular mani/pedis with an infrequent no chip mani. This place was not a good nail salon, my boyfriend and I went here to kill some time before heading to the airport, we wanted pedicures, my pedi was ok however they don't have gel, my boyfriend however had a horrible pedi, they basically just washed his feet, never cleaned out the nails, and then when he mentioned not cleaning the nails they did so but by then it was the end of his pedi. He then complained and they did not offer any apologies or a discount, I would never go back here!!! read more

Great place for manicures, pedicures and waxing. In particular Cindy is great, but Huyen is the best there is - and also a wonderful person. ive been here a few times , love that the nails stay on ,, most places ive gone the acrylic nails fall off before 2 weeks , the only issue is that if I didn't pay attention to the price she would have charged me $10 extra dollars for a regular acrylic full set , it is $ 25 but she said $35 and when I asked why it was more she stated that she " shaped the " when they were still just square and that they were " longer " when they were actually quit short. and also when I asked the nail tech she had a attitude like I was insulting her . If they are going to charge for every little thing they do , then they should advertise that or make sure that they tell customers that they will not clean up your acrylics that they have to unless they charge you extra , if that's the case I can do them myself at home read more

I've been going to this Nail Salon for about 1 year. I love that no appointment is necessary, it's clean, and they are nice. More than that, though, Cindy is very gentle with the drill. The drill always stressed me out before, but I finally found a nail tech who can do the job quickly, without cranking up the nail file high speed, and my nails look great! read more

I love today nail spa I go every two weeks with my mom. Everybody there is so nice to us. And despite what other reviews say it is a VERY clean place. And my nail polish always last but sometimes it will ware away but only if i am doing a lot of hard work with my hands but it rarely ever does. They do a wonderful job on my nails every time I have never been not happy there. Some people complain about having to wait but if you don't want to wait make a appointment and know if you are a walk-in you may have to wait cause they have to deal with the people who have appointments first. But over all if you are looking for a place to get your nails done go there it is the best place I have ever been to and I love it they are so nice. And don't listen to the bad review I looked at them and none of them are ture and I don't know were any of the complaints come from at all it makes me mad to see them cause its not ture at all. I was in the Today Nails and Spa salon today. My friend recommended this place to me because she goes their for 10 years. I am pleasantly surprised and amazed. Here is the past story. In other nail salon, the lady I used to go for years, went back to California to work for her family (they opened nail salon there) and I didn't like any one of 5 other specialists that had, so I left. This my friend recommendation was like a gift. We are people with European roots and we like everything perfect...and it is difficult to find such professionals in any industry. When you will find them you will stick with them forever. I found mine for sure. Amazing work and nails design. I read some reviews and it sounds to me that maybe some people didn't communicate their expectations clearly. I always straight forward towards of what I want and how I want it. I will never come back to this place! I walk in with my mom. We sit down to get a pedi and I told the girl what I wanted and she gives me a nasty look. I said what's wrong? She then proceeded to do my nails the way I didn't want them and started shaping them into a V shape. They are toe nails. Also I asked her twice to warm up the water because it was cold and she didn't. I asked for someone else to do my nails and the owner walks over and just stairs at me with a nasty look. This is a great example of a small local nail shop. Cindy does an amazing job and is very friendly. I have been coming here for six months and it has always been very clean - maybe there were problems several years ago, but it is nice now. I Walked in to this place today and was immediately greeted with "what would I like to get done?" and so I responded with "I don't have to make an appointment?" And they said 'no' so I looked through their service list...while looking through their service list I striked up a conversation with the lady at the front desk since usually I get along very well with the Vietnamese Nail Technicians because I am a Nail Technician too, anyways- I was just being friendly and I then noticed they listed 'gel extensions' as a service so I asked if they do gel extensions with the REAL gel- and the lady tried to "explain" to me that the gel is a powder that they use but it is "real gel" and is better than acrylic but it will cost me double the amount- BUT! Since I am a nail technician I know that there is no such thing as "gel powder"...a lot of these "chop shops" aka Asian nail salons, do a lot of illegal advertising and don't follow strict health department protocols nor do a lot of the employees even have a nail technician license! One of their biggest lies is the "gel powder" and every single nail technician while going through school & training is taught that there is no such thing as "gel powder", it is a GIMMICK that a majority of Asian salons use to trick everyday clients into spending extra money for absolutely no reason. They tell you that the Gel Nail extension is applied with "gel powder" after they glue a plastic nail tip onto your nail and once they are done applying the "gel powder" they coat it with a clear GEL POLISH top coat that gets cured under a UV/LED lighting so that you believe that the 'powder' was really 'gel' that had to be 'cured under a light' so it 'must' be real gel and 'must be worth more than acrylic nails' BUT this is all a disgusting, lie & a scam that sadly is legal...the "gel powder" is actually in reality just REGULAR ACRYLIC POWDER that is poured into a container and labeled as 'gel powder'. Complete lies. People---- REAL gel that is used for extensions on your nails (NOT Gel polish! That is completely different. Gel polish is not the same as Real Gel Extensions or "fake" Gel powder) like acrylic comes in a GEL form that has a viscosity similar to that of honey, tree sap, or super glue- before it is applied onto your nails, and a small tipped/pointed brush (NOT a brush used for applying acrylic powder) is used to BRUSH on the gel in several layers, usually about 4 or 5 layers of clear or light pink tinted GEL that feels and moves like the everyday items I talked about before, such as honey, tree sap, or super glue, yes, it has the same properties as those BEFORE it is applied to your nail, and every single layer must be individually cured under a UV light. So anyways- right after the lady at the front desk bluntly lied right to my face I told her I was a nail technician and immediately she turned around and started speaking quietly and Vietnamese to it the only other worker in the salon and then turned around, looked at me, 'smiled', and then told me (in a very robotic Un-friendly voice) that "if I wanted to get any nail services done then I would have to leave and call them to make an appointment"...so then I asked if I "could get my legs waxed" because they had that listed as a service and the lady told me that "they do not offer any of the waxing services they have listed, except for the eyebrow waxing" (WTF? So then why list 7 different waxing services or not even put up a sign saying that those services are not offered anymore? How hard is it to do that?) so then I told her "well I need to get my eyebrows waxed" and then she told me that "the lady who does the eyebrow waxing is not in today" and that "I would STILL have to leave, call them, and make an appointment". So I left with the phone number and decided to instantly call them while still parked in my car and when I called them I clearly didn't mention that I was just in there, instead I pretended that I found them on google and asked "if I could come walk in and get my nails done" and they said "yes come right ahead". I then proceeded to hang up. This place is a complete lie itself. If you don't want to get scammed out of your money and lied to don't go here. If you want to get your nails and your self image ruined then gladly call them to make an appointment for weeks later at a place that I would never even consider middle class. read more

The past two days I have walked in and asked for a fill. Both times they told me it would be at least an hour wait and asked for me to come back later. Is that how you do business when you advertise "walk ins welcome"? No. Both days I drove out of my way and moved plans around. Hire more people so you can provide better service or you will continue to lose good customers.
