I usually go there for Karaoke, which they just started having again on Saturday nights. However, now, you have a $10.00 cover charge...unless you order food. Not many of us want to eat a meal after 9 p.m. I ordered food, but never again. Their food used to be great but now it's horrible. The special chow mein was nothing but noodles and very dry. The Beef and Broccoli had so little beef it was hard to find. They need to step up their food game if they expect people to eat there. read more

We ordered delivery from this spot this weekend, and will do so again. Recommended by a friend, we called in our order for 3 dishes. We ordered the Special Noodles, Szechuan Beef, Dry Garlic Ribs and Today's Special Fried Rice. As a bonus for ordering over $30 worth of food, we got a complimentary order of Deep Fried Wontons. Score... Our order arrived within 40 minutes (we were told 45-60) hot and all correct. The big winners were the noodles and the fried rice. Both were chock full of good stuff, and were perfectly cooked. Both also had a lovely wok te to them, which is the mark of a good kitchen. The Dry Garlic Ribs were very good, though a tad overcooked. The Szechuan Beef was delicious, but struck me as being prepared for the tourists... Traditionally, Szechuan Beef should burn you to the ground. I am pretty sure there were no actual Szechuan chiles in this dish. Still it was very tasty. The Deep Fried Wontons were generous, with lots of dipping sauce, but were also a tad overdone. That said, we ate them and enjoyed it. The portions were very generous, and provided supper for 3 the one night, and then for 2 the night after. Today's is a classic dive bar that has a great atmosphere and local feel to it. Karaoke on Friday is always a great time and the local faces come out. There are about average singers so you won't feel shy about being out staged by the other people out there. One of the best things about this place is their wonton nachos. Just imagine deep fried nachos cooked on a plate with cheese green peppers and onions. Absolutely delicious. Be warned however. If you have them once you will be forever addicted to them. read more

A surprising gem! Being Chinese myself, I was initially a bit skeptical about the authenticity of the Chinese food here because it seemed to be more catered towards a Western audience. However, I ordered some dishes recommended by the owners and was blown away by how good they were. I highly recommend their Today's Fried Rice, Panfried Beef with Flat Rice Noodles, and Wonton Nachos. The food was very delicious and had that authentic "fire of the wok" taste. I was especially impressed by the fried rice; each grain of rice was coated with golden fried egg and cooked to perfection.The owners even gave us a complimentary plate of Wonton Nachos; it was a very creative Mexican-Chinese fusion appetizer and a hit with everyone. It's a Chinese lounge and restaurant for locals. They have Chinese food, 5 tv screens for sports, VLTs, a pool table, juke box. Dated decor. It is large inside but still cozy. Once inside for a while the place feels warm. Big windows. They seem to cater for groups and birthday parties. Food is the typical Chinese fare but it is good. Finally! This is the place I've been looking for. I've been desperately looking for a small town Chinese restaurant like I would find in Wainwright or Vegreville in Edmonton. Now I can get authentic sweet and sour lemon chicken balls with pre packaged plum sauce on the side without having to drive for hours. This restaurant has amazing Chinese food - the green onion cakes, ginger beef and war wonton soup are stellar but their own creation of wonton nachos is really their masterpiece. Deep fried wanton, smothered with melted cheese, sweet chili sauce and sour cream for dipping, it's unique and delicious. Add to that you can do karaoke Tuesday through Sunday and this is one of my favorite after hours hang outs! Fridays are the best nights to go because the music is pumping and so many friendly people are out! read more

If you can deal with the look of the place it is a nice spot to kick back, relax, shoot some pool and maybe sing some karaoke tunes. It is often quite empty so you can sing your heart out. The karaoke company that is there most of the week (inter-octave entertainment) has great hosts and a really varied song list. As far as Today's goes, it is divey, but clean enough. Their Americanized Chinese food menu is about what you would expect and the pizza is surprisingly tasty! Drinks are cheap too. If your expectations aren't too high you will not be disappointed. We have been searching fo a good quality Chinese food place for years. We have found some that are ok. We happened to discover Today's a couple weeks ago, it was fresh and we were so impressed. It's not like any Chinese we have had in a long time it's way better! Prior to discovering amazing food here, the last couple places we ordered from we actually ended up throwing over $80 in food away. We consider ourselves lucky to stumble upon this hidden gem! It's fresh, tasty and I ate too much! The service is also top notch. We have interacted with a gentleman and a young lady on separate visits and both of them were friendly and helpful. Today's is OK for a few drinks and some pool. The place itself it's a small size but not bad. It isn't set up very well though. Low quality tables and chairs, kind of felt like cafeteria furniture. The food isn't bad but not anything special. A friend had his birthday here and it was perfect for that. It's not busy at all so it's almost like you have the place to yourself. I have eaten here lots and the Wonton nachos are awesome. The hot wings and pizza are above average too. The Chinese food is average. The bar does need Renovation very badly and new tables / chairs. I've ordered from this restaurant for the past year or two on a monthly basis, about $80 a month or so. Typical chinese take out, last time i ordered i received food that was old, cold, greasy and obviously forgotten about. Maybe reused from their lunch buffet line? Anyways, tonight when i ordered i specifically requested that they ensure the food is fresh in the 'special directions section' through their online order portal. I promptly received a phone call from an irate asian woman that proceeded to scream in my ear about how their food is always fresh, that i didnt know what i was talking about, that because i like to order my ginger beef with sauce on the side - that I ordered food that would obviously taste bad? After letting her yell at me, cut me off, and speak to me in a generally condescending manner for about 20 minutes i asked to speak to someone that was either a manager or someone that would understand what i was saying to her. I stated multiple times that i understood mistakes happen, that maybe i just had a poor experience last time but i did not need to be spoken to so rudely for simply asking for fresh food. I was handed over to the 'kitchen manager' that was fairly kind and straightforward. He refused to say the name of the previous lady that i was spoken to. Apparently she is their front end manager and the owners are only in on weekdays. Hopefully they are able to read this review and see how their business is being run when they are away. I seldom leave reviews and never bad but i purposefully came to say that i will never be ordering from such an unprofessional and rude establishment again. I cannot recommend giving money to this establishment or paying that woman's salary in any manner. The quality has gone down hill for the past few months, most likely because of this new, disgustingly rude manager. Apparently issues with this lady is a common occurrence. I've been going to today's for a few years now spacifically for karaoke! Love GT entertainments karaoke selection. They do need to update there chairs as lots if them have lost there cushion and are rock hard to sit on! They could also chAnge there menu every now and then so that people don't get tired of ordering the same thing all the time. And the thing I really hate is the pop is not free refills... Come on now I could understand if it was can/bottled pop, but fountain! Crazy read more

Really enjoyed this place the first time we ordered, then the second time they made a mistake, which cost us an additional $30 to our order. When I called to inquire about it, the lady on the phone told me it was my fault for not listening when she read it back to me (which she did not do) and refused to apologize or try to make things right. She full on was yelling at me over the phone. Told me to bring the food back and she will refund my money. It took 20 minutes once I got there so they could argue with me about it before I got my money back. She then showed me that the phone calls to the restaurant are recorded. Just went here on monday night, the food was fantastic, the best chinese food I have had other than china town, the service was very good, there was not many people in the place for dinner, looks like they may have a bigger crowd for lunch due to its industrial location. I ordered take-out on Valentine's day and arrived with my own containers in which to put my food, as I try to avoid using disposable containers. I have done this at many establishments and they are always happy to do this for me. I gave the girl my containers and she said that they could not do it, as the food would melt them. I told her that I have had hot food in them many times before and it would not be a problem, but if they would not oblige me, that I would not order the food. She said they would and I paid for my food. I returned 15 minutes later to find my containers empty and my food in a metal container, inide a plastic bag - they clearly did not understand the point. She told me it was kitchen policy - I have never heard of such a rule and am pretty sure she made it up. I was not asking them to add special ingredients, but simply asking for less waste. She would not give me a refund even though I specifically said that I did not want the food unless it was in my containers. In the end, I got my food home and it was really salty and I only ate half of it. I will never order from this place again. read more

Horrible HORRIBLE customer service. Went there with my parents for a few drinks and dinner. Ordered fish and it looked like it came right out of a frozen box along with the fries as well. Wasn't thoroughly cooked. Didn't expect fireworks for a mainly chinese place but c'mon.. Parents ordered chinese and it was O.K., nothing special. When we asked for something different than the fish as it had not been cooked properly we were still charged for it even though only one bite was taken. The younger waitress was very nice about it and asked us to speak to her manager. As we approached the older woman was instantly rude and outraged with us and started yelling. We stayed calm but not for long as we were shocked and very insulted with her attitude. She yelled at us and walked away saying "YOU'LL PAY FOR THE ENTIRE MEAL". I've never had such rude service before. We paid in full and will never go there again. Not to mention how tacky and cheap the place is in itself. Do NOT go here. read more
