I took it back to have them look at it once more and they told me they thought maybe it was a bad connection. Again, it was not working. I took it to another jeweler and here's what they found. Below is a text from the jeweler I took it to after Howard's. "Here are the pictures of your watch, we took the pictures right after we opened it, someone taped the wrong size  battery in place since they lost the screw on the arm that makes contact and holds the battery, we tested the movement and the coil has also been damaged which is easy to do if your not careful when changing the battery." "So blatantly wrong what they did. The battery size is right on the back of the watch. What a great picture!" Please be careful!!

Kept glaring at us. Seems like he has the scenario down to a science. This must be his daily routine. He said he was in a hurry, he wanted to go to lunch. We felt very uncomfortable. Due to the discomfort, we just took the total that he gave us. Did not count them out in front of us. Looked at the check when we got home. He paid us roughly $3 under silver price per coin. His explanation was that the card didn't have the date it was manufactured on it. (?). He harped on the fact that Boone was born in 1923 (on the card) and that he would be 90 something years old. Well he would if he was still alive but he died in 2004. He was the first of three generations of baseball player and even played with Cleveland during his 13 year career. Bob Boone his son and two grandsons: Brett and Aaron Boone also played in the Majors. I told the guy that Boone career began in the late '40s and ended in the early '60s but the guy actually thought I was trying to pull a fast one. True is this bozo wouldn't know Ray Boone from Daniel Boone. The employee actually insinuated that I reproduced the card, that it was a replica. Why in the world would somebody reproduce a card that according to various online sites is only worth 5 or 10 dollars? The card along with others that are probably thrown away had been in my Mom's house since the fifties. A radio talk station in Cleveland promotes this organization heavily with on the air spots and reply advertising texts if you send a text to the show. 650 Gold started giving cash for gold and now also buy sports memorabilia. A big mistake since their employees are most ignorant of the subject. And after my experience I would be skeptical about taking anything there for appraisal. They have many sparsely decorated, hole-in-the-wall locations in Cuyahoga County that are usually located in strip malls.

I took the cards to 650 Gold in Shaker Heights and the man there explained I had some nice cards from 1955-1965 (he showed me how to tell the card's date). He paid me $350 for the cards. The store was nicely decorated and the employee was very professional and friendly. My friend has sold some gold occasionally at the 650 Gold in Euclid and he has found they pay more money than the competition.
